You who seek God [requiring Him as your greatest need], let your heart revive and live.

My God, deliver me from the hand of the unjust one, from the hand of him transgressing, and the violent one.


May he judge Your people with righteousness,
And Your afflicted with justice.

May he be a judge of the poor among the people, may he give salvation to the children of those who are in need; by him let the violent be crushed.

Let him come down, Like rain on fields to be mown, Like myriad drops on land to be reaped.

So let him have dominion, From sea to sea, And from the River unto the ends of the earth;

As the dream of him that waketh, O my Lord! when rousing thyself up, their shadowy being, wilt thou despise.


But as for me, it is good for me to draw near to God;
I have made the Lord God my refuge and placed my trust in Him,
That I may tell of all Your works.

Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

You have given power to the right hand of his haters; you have made glad all those who are against him.

Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.

Hast caused him to cease from his brightness, And his throne to the earth hast cast down.
