And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, a woman cried unto him, saying, Save me, my lord, O king.

Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord takes the stewardship away from me; I cannot dig, and I am ashamed to beg.

And it came to pass at the end of the seven years that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines, and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her lands. And the king had talked with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha has done. And as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. So Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

I called my slave, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

They turn the needy out of the way; and all the poor of the earth hide themselves from them. Behold, as wild asses in the desert, they go forth to their work, rising early for a prey; the wilderness yields food for them and for their children.

When the ears that heard me, called me blessed; and when the eyes that saw me, gave witness to me: because I delivered the poor that cried and the fatherless who had no one to help him.

Nun I have been young and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Let his children be continually vagabonds and beg; let them seek their bread out of their desolate places.

And his fellowslave fell down at his feet and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not, but went and cast him into prison until he should pay the debt. So when his fellowslaves saw what was done, they were very grieved and came and declared unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked slave, I forgave thee all that debt because thou didst beseech me;

And so they come to Jericho, and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

And it came to pass that as he came near unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat beside the way begging,

and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

The neighbours, therefore, and those who before had seen him that he was blind said, Is not this he that sat and begged?

And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of those that entered into the temple, who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked for alms.

Is not rather the fast that I have chosen, to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the ties of oppression, to release into freedom those who are broken, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to share thy bread with the hungry and that thou bring the poor that are cast out into thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou not hide thyself from thy brother?

For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always.

For ye have the poor with you always, and whenever ye will, ye may do them good; but me ye have not always.

for the poor ye always have with you, but ye shall not always have me.

For the poor shall never cease out of the land; therefore, I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor and to thy needy, in thy land.

He that gives unto the poor lends unto the LORD, and he will give him his reward.

Whosoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself but shall not be heard.

He that has a merciful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the destitute.

He that gives unto the poor shall never lack, but he that hides his eyes from the poor shall have many a curse.

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and destitute.

and do not oppress the widow nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

Give to him that asks of thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Give to everyone that asks of thee, and of the one that takes away thy goods ask them not to return them.

Jesus said unto him, If thou desire to be perfect, go and sell what thou hast and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.

Then Jesus beholding him loved him and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go, sell all that thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross , and follow me taking up thy stake (if thy desire is to be perfect).

Now when Jesus heard this, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

Sell what ye have and give alms; ; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches neither moth corrupts.

But when thou makest a banquet, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind,

And it came to pass in process of time that the king of Egypt died, and the sons of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God from their bondage.

And wherever he entered, into villages or cities or fields, they laid the sick in the streets and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment, and as many as touched him were saved.

So the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

and all those devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain, and they besought him that he would allow them to enter into them. And he allowed them.

And, behold, a woman of Canaan having come out of the same borders cried unto him, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me; my daughter is sick, possessed by a demon.

the woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation, and she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter.

And they bring unto him one that was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.

And hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

And it came to pass when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy who, seeing Jesus, fell on his face and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

And a leper came to him, beseeching him and kneeling down to him and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

And, behold, a man of the multitude cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son, for he is my only child. And, behold, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out; and it throws him into convulsions with foaming, and with difficulty it departs from him, bruising him. And I besought thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.

When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him and besought him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
