Dear friends, if God has loved us so, we ought to love one another.

Therefore, treat one another like brothers, in God's honor, just as Christ has treated you.

I tell you, even if he will not get up and give him some because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rouse himself and give him all he needs.

Anything you ask for as followers of mine I will grant, so that the Father may be honored through the Son. I will grant anything you ask me for as my followers.

If you remain united to me and my words remain in your hearts, ask for whatever you please and you shall have it.

Hitherto you have not asked for anything as my followers, but now ask, and you will receive, so that your happiness may be complete.

You must be kind to one another, you must be tender-hearted, and forgive one another just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

"You have heard that they were told, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you not to resist injury, but if anyone strikes you on your right cheek, turn the other to him too; and if anyone wants to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat too.read more.
And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go two miles with him. If anyone begs from you, give to him, and when anyone wants to borrow from you, do not turn away.

To the man that strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from the man who takes away your coat, do not keep back your shirt either. Give to everyone that asks of you, and if anyone takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.

Do not take your revenge, dear friends, but leave room for God's anger, for the Scripture says, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will pay them back, says the Lord." No! If your enemy is hungry, feed him! If he is thirsty, give him something to drink! For if you do, you will heap burning coals upon his head! Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

And no one could make him any answer, and from that day no one ventured to ask him any more questions.

So they could not fasten on what he said before the people, and they were amazed at his answer, and said nothing more.

And he made him no reply to even a single accusation, so that the governor was greatly surprised.
