'Land' in the Bible
The Lord is King forever and ever;The nations will perish from His land.
As for the saints (godly people) who are in the land,They are the majestic and the noble and the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.
His soul will dwell in prosperity and goodness,And his descendants will inherit the land.
I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the LordIn the land of the living.
For they do not speak peace,But they devise deceitful words [half-truths and lies] against those who are quiet in the land.
Trust [rely on and have confidence] in the Lord and do good;Dwell in the land and feed [securely] on His faithfulness.
The righteous will inherit the landAnd live in it forever.
Wait for and expect the Lord and keep His way,And He will exalt you to inherit the land;[In the end] when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
The Lord will protect him and keep him alive;And he will be called blessed in the land;You do not hand him over to the desire of his enemies.
O my God, my soul is in despair within me [the burden more than I can bear];Therefore I will [fervently] remember You from the land of the JordanAnd the peaks of [Mount] Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
For our fathers did not possess the land [of Canaan] by their own sword,Nor did their own arm save them,But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence,Because You favored and delighted in them.
In place of your fathers will be your sons;You shall make princes in all the land.
But God will break you down forever;He will take you away and tear you away from your tent,And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah.
No, in your heart you devise wrongdoing;On earth you deal out the violence of your hands.
You have made the land quake, You have split it open;Heal its rifts, for it shakes and totters.
God has spoken in His holiness [in His promises]:“I will rejoice, I will divide [the land of] Shechem and measure out the Valley of Succoth [west to east].
O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You;My soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You,In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
He turned the sea into dry land;They crossed through the river on foot;There we rejoiced in Him.
God makes a home for the lonely;He leads the prisoners into prosperity,Only the stubborn and rebellious dwell in a parched land.
When the Almighty scattered [the Canaanite] kings in the land of Canaan,It was snowing on Zalmon.
There will be an abundance of grain in the soil on the top of the mountains;Its fruit will wave like [the cedars of] Lebanon,And those of the city will flourish like grass of the earth.
They said in their heart, “Let us completely subdue them.”They have burned all the meeting places of God in the land.
You have defined and established all the borders of the earth [the divisions of land and sea and of the nations];You have made summer and winter.
Consider the covenant [You made with Abraham],For the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.
He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathersIn the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan [where Pharaoh resided].
Yet they still continued to sin against HimBy rebelling against the Most High in the desert.
He killed all the firstborn in Egypt,The first and best of their strength in the tents [of the land of the sons] of Ham.
He also drove out the nations before the sons of IsraelAnd allotted their land as an inheritance, measured out and partitioned;And He had the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents [the tents of those who had been dispossessed].
O God, the nations have invaded [the land of Your people] Your inheritance;They have defiled Your sacred temple;They have laid Jerusalem in ruins.
You cleared away the ground before it,And it took deep root and filled the land.
He established it for a testimony in JosephWhen He went throughout the land of Egypt.I heard the language [of One whom] I did not know, saying,
“I am the Lord your God,Who brought you up from the land of Egypt.Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.
O Lord, You have [at last] shown favor to Your land [of Canaan];You have restored [from Babylon] the captives of Jacob (Israel).
Surely His salvation is near to those who [reverently] fear Him [and obey Him with submissive wonder],That glory [the manifest presence of God] may dwell in our land.
Indeed, the Lord will give what is good,And our land will yield its produce.
If the Lord had not been my help,I would soon have dwelt in [the land of] silence.
The sea is His, for He made it [by His command];And His hands formed the dry land.
“Therefore I swore [an oath] in My wrath,‘They absolutely shall not enter My rest [the land of promise].’”
My eyes will be on the faithful (honorable) of the land, that they may dwell with me;He who walks blamelessly is the one who will minister to and serve me.
Morning after morning I will destroy all the wicked in the land,That I may cut off from the city of the Lord all those who do evil.
Saying, “To you I will give the land of CanaanAs the measured portion of your inheritance.”
And He called for a famine upon the land [of Egypt];He cut off every source of bread.
They exhibited His wondrous signs among them,Great miracles in the land of Ham (Egypt).
He sent [thick, oppressive] darkness and made the land dark;And Moses and Aaron did not rebel against His words.
Their land swarmed with frogs,Even in the chambers of their kings.
He gave them hail for rain,With flaming fire in their land.
And ate up all the vegetation in their land,And devoured the fruit of their ground.
He also struck down all the firstborn in their land,The first fruits and chief substance of all their strength.
Wonders in the land of Ham,Awesome things at the Red Sea.
Then they despised the pleasant land [of Canaan];They did not believe in His word nor rely on it,
And shed innocent blood,Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters,Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;And the land was polluted with their blood.
A productive land into a [barren] salt waste,Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
I will walk [in submissive wonder] before the LordIn the land of the living.
For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land of the righteous,So that the righteous will not reach out their hands to do wrong.
And He gave their land as a heritage,A heritage to Israel His people.
And gave their land as a heritage,For His lovingkindness endures forever;
How can we sing the Lord’s songIn a strange and foreign land?
All the kings of the land will give thanks and praise You, O Lord,When they have heard of the promises of Your mouth [which were fulfilled].
I cried out to You, O Lord;I said, “You are my refuge,My portion in the land of the living.
I reach out my hands to You;My throat thirsts for You, as a parched land [thirsts for water]. Selah.
Teach me to do Your will [so that I may please You],For You are my God;Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
