‘For a fire is kindled by My anger,
And it burns to the depths of Sheol (the place of the dead, the nether world),
It devours the earth with its yield,
And sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
“The Lord puts to death and makes alive;
He brings down to Sheol (the grave) and raises up [from the grave].
The bands of Sheol surrounded me; The cords of death encountered me;
And thou shalt do according to thy wisdom, and not let his hoar head go down to Sheol in peace.
And now hold him not guiltless; for thou art a wise man, and thou shalt know what thou oughtest to do to him; but bring his hoar head down to Sheol with blood.

Heights of the heavens! -- what dost thou? Deeper than Sheol! -- what knowest thou?
O that in Sheol Thou wouldest conceal me, Hide me till the turning of Thine anger, Set for me a limit, and remember me.
If I wait -- Sheol is my house, In darkness I have spread out my couch.
To the parts of Sheol ye go down, If together on the dust we may rest.

Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead);
Death will be their shepherd;
And the upright shall rule over them in the morning,
And their form and beauty shall
So that they have no dwelling [on earth].
But God will redeem my life from the power of Sheol,
For He will receive me. Selah.
Let death come deceitfully upon them;
Let them go down alive to Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead),
For evil [of every kind] is in their dwelling and in their hearts, in their midst.
For great is Your lovingkindness and graciousness toward me;
And You have rescued my life from the depths of Sheol [from death].
For my soul is full of troubles,
And my life draws near the grave (Sheol, the place of the dead).
What man can live and not see death?
Can he rescue his soul from the [powerful] hand of Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead)? Selah.
Compassed me have cords of death, And straits of Sheol have found me, Distress and sorrow I find.
If I ascend the heavens -- there Thou art, And spread out a couch in Sheol, lo, Thee!

You take olive oil as tribute to your king, along with many perfumes. You send your messengers to a distant place; you go all the way to Sheol.

From the hand of Sheol I do ransom them, From death I redeem them, Where is thy plague, O death? Where thy destruction, O Sheol? Repentance is hid from Mine eyes.
Though they dig into Sheol, thence shall my hand take them; and though they climb up to the heavens, thence will I bring them down;
and he said: I cried by reason of my distress unto Jehovah, and he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I: thou heardest my voice.
And moreover, the wine is treacherous: he is a proud man, and keepeth not at rest, he enlargeth his desire as Sheol, and he is like death and cannot be satisfied; and he assembleth unto him all nations, and gathereth unto him all peoples.
