The posts went out, being hurried by the king's command, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city Shushan was perplexed.

And Esther's servant women and her eunuchs came and told her. And the queen was exceedingly grieved, and she sent clothing to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him. But he did not receive it.

And the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that whoever, whether man or woman, shall come to the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his, execution, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden scepter so that he may live. But I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.

For if you are completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance shall arise to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house shall be destroyed. And who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for a time like this?

And Haman went forth that day joyful and with a glad heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he did not stand up nor move for him, he was full of fury against Mordecai.

But Haman held himself in. And when he came home, he sent and called for his friends and Zeresh his wife.

And Haman said, Yes, Esther the queen let no man but me come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared. And also tomorrow I am invited to her banquet, with the king.

And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hurried to his house mourning, and having his head covered.

And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, If Mordecai is of the seed of the Jews, before whom you have begun to fall, you shall not prevail against him but shall surely fall before him.

For we are sold, my people and I, to be destroyed, to be killed, and to perish. But if we had been sold for men-slaves and women-slaves, I would have held my tongue, although the enemy could not make up for the king's damage.

For the Jews in Shushan gathered themselves on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and killed three hundred men at Shushan. But they did not lay their hands on the spoil.

But the rest of the Jews in the king's provinces gathered themselves and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and killed seventy-five thousand of their foes. But they did not lay their hands on the spoil.

But the Jews at Shushan gathered on the thirteenth of it and on the fourteenth of it. And on the fifteenth of the same, they rested and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked plot which he had plotted against the Jews should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the wooden gallows.

To him who is afflicted, pity is due from his friend, but he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

Right words are powerful, but what does your arguing argue?

When I lie down, I say, When shall I rise? But the night is long, and I am full of tossing to and fro until the dawning of the day.

And why do You not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? For now I shall sleep in the dust, and You shall seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

for we are but of yesterday and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.

He shall lean on his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast to it, but it shall not endure.

Truly I know it is so, but how can man be just with God?

Behold! He goes by me, and I do not see Him; He passes on also, but I do not perceive Him.

But Job answered and said,

Lo, these are the edges of His ways; but what a whisper of a word we hear of Him! And the thunder of His power who can understand?

he may prepare, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.

But you have fulfilled the judgment of the wicked; judgment and justice take hold;

If your cry for help is set in order, then it will not be in distress, but with all the forces of strength.

And now men cannot look upon the light; it is in the clouds; but the wind passes and clears them.

and I said, You shall come to here, but no further; and here your proud waves shall stop.

Once I have spoken; but I will not answer; yea, twice, but I will go no further.

The sword overtakes him, but will not hold firm. The spear, the dart, and the javelin also.

I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye has seen You.

But his delight is only in the Law of Jehovah; and in His Law he meditates day and night.

The wicked are not so, but are like chaff which the wind drives away.

For Jehovah knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled in but a little time. Blessed are all who put their trust in Him.

But You, O Jehovah, are a shield for me; my glory, the One who lifts up my head.

But know that Jehovah has set apart the godly for Himself. Jehovah hears when I call to Him.

But I, in the abundance of Your grace, I will come into Your house; I will worship in Your fear toward Your holy temple.

But let all who put their trust in You rejoice; let them always shout for joy, because You defend them. And let those who love Your name be joyful in You.

My soul also is exceedingly troubled; but You, O Jehovah, how long?

O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just. For the righteous God tries the minds and hearts.

But Jehovah shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment.

Put them in fear, O Jehovah, let the nations know they are but men. Selah.

Jehovah tries the righteous; but His soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence,

But I have trusted in Your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.

in whose eyes the reprobate is despised, but he honors those who fear Jehovah; he has sworn to his hurt, and does not change it;

They went before me in the day of my calamity; but Jehovah was my stay.

For You will save the afflicted people, but will bring down high looks.
