The overseers insisted, “Finish your assigned work each day, just as you did when straw was provided.”
And the taskmasters of the sons of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten. And they demanded, Why have you not completed your task in making brick, both yesterday and today, as you did before?
And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.
And Moses returned to Yahweh and said, "Lord, why have you brought trouble to this people? Why ever did you send me?
And from the time I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he did evil to this people: and delivering, thou didst not deliver thy people.
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob (Israel) as God Almighty [El Shaddai], but by My
And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.
And Moses spoke thus to the {Israelites}, but they did not listen to Moses, because of {discouragement} and because of hard work.
Then Moses said right in front of the LORD, "Look, the Israelis didn't listen to me, so how will Pharaoh? I'm not a persuasive speaker."
Thus then did Yahweh speak unto Moses and unto Aaron, yea he gave them a charge unto the sons of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, for the bringing forth of the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
And Moses and Aaron did [it]; as Yahweh commanded them, so they did.
And Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh, and they did so, as Yahweh had commanded. And Aaron threw his staff before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a snake.
And Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did likewise with their secret arts.
And Pharaoh's heart was hard, and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh had said.
And Moses and Aaron did so, as Yahweh had commanded, and he raised the staff and struck the water that was in the Nile before the eyes of Pharaoh and before the eyes of his servants, and all of the water that was in the Nile was changed to blood.
And the magicians of Egypt did likewise with their secret arts, and Pharaoh's heart was hard, and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.
And Pharaoh turned and went to his house, and {he did not take also this to heart}.
And the magicians did likewise with their secret arts, and they brought up frogs over the land of Egypt.
And Yahweh did according to the word of Moses, and the frogs died from the houses, from the courtyards, and from the fields.
And Pharaoh saw that there was relief, and he made his heart {insensitive}, and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.
And he did so, and Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff, and he struck the dust of the land, and it became gnats on the humans and on the animals; all of the dust of the land became gnats in all the land of Egypt.
And the magicians did so with their secret arts to bring out the gnats, but they were not able, and the gnats were on the humans and on the animals.
And the magicians said to Pharaoh, "It is the finger of God." But the heart of Pharaoh was hard, and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.
And Yahweh did so, and a {severe} [swarm of] flies came to the house of Pharaoh and the house of his servants and in all the land of Egypt; the land was ruined because of the flies.
Then did Pharaoh cry out - unto Moses and to Aaron, - and said-Go your way, sacrifice to your God, in the land.
But Moses said, “It is not right [or even possible] to do that, for we will sacrifice to the Lord our God what is repulsive and unacceptable to the Egyptians [that is, animals that the Egyptians consider sacred]. If we sacrifice what is repulsive and unacceptable to the Egyptians, will they not riot and stone us?
And Yahweh did according to the word of Moses and removed the flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; not one was left.
And Pharaoh made his heart {insensitive} also this time, and he did not release the people.
And Yahweh did this thing the next day; all the livestock of Egypt died, but from the livestock of the {Israelites} not one died.
And Pharaoh sent [to check], and {it turned out} not even one from the livestock of Israel had died, but Pharaoh's heart was {insensitive}, and he did not release the people.
And Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken to Moses.
But whoever did not pay attention to the message from the LORD left his servants and his livestock outside in the fields.
And the hail smote in all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast, - and every herb of the field, did the hail smite, and every tree of the field, did it shiver.
The only place it didn’t hail was in the land of Goshen where the Israelites were.
And Moses went from Pharaoh out of the city, and he spread his hands to Yahweh, and the thunder and the hail stopped, and rain did not pour [on the] earth.
Pharaoh's heart was stubborn, and he did not let the Israelis go, just as the LORD had said through Moses.
and that thou mayest recount in the ears of thy son and thy sons' son, what I did in derision of the Egyptians, and my signs which I displayed among them, - so shall ye know that I, am Yahweh.
Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.
For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
And Jehovah turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts and threw them into the Red Sea. There did not remain one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.
And Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not release the {Israelites}.
They did not see one another, nor did any rise from his place, for three days. But all the sons of Israel had light in their dwellings.
The LORD made Pharaoh's heart stubborn, and he did not want to let them go.
Moses and Aaron did all these wonders in front of Pharaoh, but the LORD made Pharaoh's heart stubborn, and he would not let the Israelis go out from his land.
Then shall ye say - A passover sacrifice, it is to Yahweh, who passed-over the houses of the sons of Israel, in Egypt, when he plagued the Egyptians but our houses, he delivered. Then did the people bend their heads and bow themselves down.
The Israelis did this. Moses and Aaron did just what the LORD had commanded.
And the {Israelites} did according to the word of Moses, and they asked from [the] Egyptians [for] objects of silver and objects of gold and [for] clothing.
Then did the sons of Israel break up from Rameses, towards Succoth, - about six hundred thousand foot of men grown, besides little ones.
All the Israelis did this. They did exactly as the LORD commanded Moses and Aaron.
And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
And Moses said unto the people - Ye are to remember this day, on which ye came forth out of Egypt out of the house of slaves, that with strength of hand, did Yahweh bring you forth from hence, - there shall not, therefore be eaten anything leavened.
And you are to tell your child on that day, "This is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.'
And it shall be to thee for a sign upon thy hand and for a memorial between thine eyes, in order that the law of Yahweh may be in thy mouth, - for with a strong hand, did Yahweh bring thee forth out of Egypt.
And it shall be when thy son shall ask thee in time to come, saying, What is this? Then shalt thou say unto him: With strength of hand, did Yahweh bring us forth out of Egypt out of the house of slaves.
And it came to pass when Pharaoh had shown himself too hardened to let us go, then did Yahweh slay every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of men even unto the firstborn of beasts. For this cause, am, I, sacrificing to Yahweh whatsoever is born first, of the males, and every firstborn of my sons, must I redeem.
And it shall be for a sign upon thy hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes, - that, with strength of hand, did Yahweh bring us forth out of Egypt.
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them along the road through the land of the Philistines, even though it was nearer, because God had said, "If the people face war, they may change their minds and return to Egypt."
The column of cloud by day and the column of fire [by] night did not depart from before the people.

For the horses of Pharaoh, with his chariots and his horsemen, entered into the sea, Then did Yahweh bring back upon them the waters of the sea, - But the sons of Israel, had gone their way on the dry ground through the midst of the sea.
Then Moses led Israel from the Reed Sea and they went to the desert of Shur. They traveled into the desert for three days and did not find water.
Then did all the assembly of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the desert;
And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
And the {Israelites} saw, and they said {to each other}, "What [is] this?" because they did not know what it [was]. And Moses said to them, "That [is] the bread that Yahweh has given to you as food.
And the {Israelites} did so, and they gathered, some more and some less.
When they measured it with a vessel the capacity of which was one omer, the one who gathered much did not have an excess, while the one who gathered little did not lack. They gathered exactly what each needed to eat.
But they did not listen to Moses. Some people left [some] of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them.
And they put it aside until the morning, as Moses had commanded, and it did not make a stench, and not a maggot was in it.
And on the seventh day [some] of the people went out to gather, and they did not find [any].
As Yahweh gave command unto Moses, so did Aaron set it down before the testimony, as a thing to be preserved,
And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.
Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
And the people thirsted for water, and the people grumbled against Moses and said, "Why {ever} did you bring us up from Egypt to kill me and my sons and my cattle with thirst?"
Look, I [will be] standing before you there on the rock in Horeb, and you will strike the rock, and water will come out from it, and the people will drink." And Moses did so before the eyes of the elders of Israel.
And Joshua did as Moses had said to him to fight with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up [to] the top of the hill.
And Jethro, priest of Midian, the father-in-law of Moses, will hear all which God did to Moses and to Israel his people, for Jehovah brought forth Israel out of Egypt:
And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other after their welfare, and went into the tent.
And Moses will recount to his father-in-law all which Jehovah did to Pharaoh, and to Egypt on account of Israel, all the distress which found them in the way; and Jehovah will deliver them.
Then did Jethro rejoice, for all the good which Yahweh had done to Israel, - whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.
Now I know that Yahweh is greater than all gods, because He did wonders when the Egyptians acted arrogantly against Israel.”
And Moses' father-in-law saw all that he did with the people, and said, What is this thing which thou art doing with the people? why dost thou sit alone, and all the people are standing by thee from morning to evening?
And Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and he did all that he had said.
'You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and [how] I bore you on eagles' wings and I brought you to me.
For, in six days, did Yahweh make the heavens and the earth, and the sea - and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day, - for this cause, Yahweh blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.
If evil in the eyes of her lord, he did not betroth her and he ransomed her: to a strange people he shall not have power to sell her, in his acting deceitfully by her.
But if he did not lie in wait {and it was an accident}, I will appoint for you a place to which he may flee.
But if the ox has gored previously, and its owner has been warned about it but didn't restrain it, and it kills a man or woman, the ox is to be stoned and its owner also is to be put to death.
But if it was known that the ox had gored previously, and its owner didn't restrain it, he shall certainly repay ox for ox, and the dead ox will become his."
And toward the leaders of the {Israelites} he did not stretch out his hand, and they beheld God, and they ate, and they drank.
between me and the sons of Israel, a sign it is unto times age-abiding, - for in six days, did Yahweh make the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day, he rested, and was refreshed.
Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.
