But Jesus answering said, Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye drink the cup which I am to drink? They say to him, We can. He saith to them, Ye will indeed drink my cup; but to sit on my right hand and on my left is not mine to give, but it will be given to those for whom it hath been prepared by my Father.

Then Jesus cometh with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, Sit here, while I go yonder and pray. And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to he sorrowful and full of anguish. Then he saith to them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me. read more.
And he came a little nearer, and fell on his face, praying and saying, Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me! nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt. And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, Is it so that ye could not watch with me one hour? Watch, and pray that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Again he went away a second time, and prayed, saying, My Father, if this [cup] cannot pass away from me, but I must drink it, thy will be done! And coming again he found them sleeping; for their eyes were heavy. And leaving them, he went away again, and prayed the third time, saying again the same words. Then he cometh to the disciples, and saith to them, Sleep on, and take your rest! Lo! the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is delivered up into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; lo! he is at hand that delivereth me up. And while he was yet speaking, lo! Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. And his betrayer had given them a sign, saying, Whomever I shall kiss, he is the man; seize him. And immediately going up to Jesus, he said, Hail, Rabbi! and kissed him. And Jesus said to him, Friend, for what hast thou come! Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and seized him.

And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee! take away this cup from me. But not what I will, but what thou wilt. Watch, and pray that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. And his betrayer had given them a signal, saying, Whomever I shall kiss, he is the man; seize him, and lead him away securely. And on coming he immediately went up to him, and said, Rabbi! and kissed him. And they laid hands on him and seized him.

And going out, he went, as he was wont, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him. And when he was at the place, he said to them, Pray that ye may not enter into temptation. And he withdrew from them about a stones throw; and kneeling down he prayed, read more.

And rising up from prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow, and said to them, Why sleep ye? Rise, and pray that ye may not enter into temptation. While he was yet speaking, lo! a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, was at the head of them; and he drew near to Jesus to kiss him. But Jesus said to him, Judas, dost thou betray the Son of man with a kiss? And they who were about him, seeing what would follow, said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples across the brook Kedron, where was a garden, into which he entered with his disciples. And Judas also, his betrayer, knew the place; because Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples.
