'Heard' in the Bible
When King Herod heard this he was alarmed, and all Jerusalem with him.
"A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud wailing, Rachel weeping for her children, and she did not want to be comforted, because they were gone."
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. After being warned in a dream, he went to the regions of Galilee.
Now when Jesus heard that John had been imprisoned, he went into Galilee.
"You have heard that it was said to an older generation, 'Do not murder,' and 'whoever murders will be subjected to judgment.'
"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'
"Again, you have heard that it was said to an older generation, 'Do not break an oath, but fulfill your vows to the Lord.'
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor' and 'hate your enemy.'
When you pray, do not babble repetitiously like the Gentiles, because they think that by their many words they will be heard.
When Jesus heard this he was amazed and said to those who followed him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found such faith in anyone in Israel!
When Jesus heard this he said, "Those who are healthy don't need a physician, but those who are sick do.
Now when John heard in prison about the deeds Christ had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question:
But when the Pharisees heard this they said, "He does not cast out demons except by the power of Beelzebul, the ruler of demons!"
At that time Herod the tetrarch heard reports about Jesus,
Now when Jesus heard this he went away from there privately in a boat to an isolated place. But when the crowd heard about it, they followed him on foot from the towns.
Then the disciples came to him and said, "Do you know that when the Pharisees heard this saying they were offended?"
When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground.
But when the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he was very rich.
The disciples were greatly astonished when they heard this and said, "Then who can be saved?"
Now when the other ten heard this, they were angry with the two brothers.
Two blind men were sitting by the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, "Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David!"
But when the chief priests and the experts in the law saw the wonderful things he did and heard the children crying out in the temple courts, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became indignant
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.
Now when they heard this they were stunned, and they left him and went away.
When the crowds heard this, they were amazed at his teaching.
Now when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they assembled together.
Then the high priest tore his clothes and declared, "He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Now you have heard the blasphemy!
When some of the bystanders heard it, they said, "This man is calling for Elijah."
If this matter is heard before the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble."
When Jesus heard this he said to them, "Those who are healthy don't need a physician, but those who are sick do. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan River, and around Tyre and Sidon a great multitude came to him when they heard about the things he had done.
When his family heard this they went out to restrain him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."

But when Herod heard this, he said, "John, whom I beheaded, has been raised!"
because Herod stood in awe of John and protected him, since he knew that John was a righteous and holy man. When Herod heard him, he was thoroughly baffled, and yet he liked to listen to John.
When John's disciples heard this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.
Instead, a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit immediately heard about him and came and fell at his feet.
Now when the other ten heard this, they became angry with James and John.
When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
He said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard it.
The chief priests and the experts in the law heard it and they considered how they could assassinate him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed by his teaching.
Now one of the experts in the law came and heard them debating. When he saw that Jesus answered them well, he asked him, "Which commandment is the most important of all?"
When they heard this, they were delighted and promised to give him money. So Judas began looking for an opportunity to betray him.
"We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands and in three days build another not made with hands.'"
You have heard the blasphemy! What is your verdict?" They all condemned him as deserving death.
When some of the bystanders heard it they said, "Listen, he is calling for Elijah!"
And when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.
But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son; you will name him John.
When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her.
All who heard these things kept them in their hearts, saying, "What then will this child be?" For the Lord's hand was indeed with him.
So the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen; everything was just as they had been told.
And all who heard Jesus were astonished at his understanding and his answers.
Then he began to tell them, "Today this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read."
Jesus said to them, "No doubt you will quote to me the proverb, 'Physician, heal yourself!' and say, 'What we have heard that you did in Capernaum, do here in your hometown too.'"
When they heard this, all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage.
When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his slave.
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him. He turned and said to the crowd that followed him, "I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith!"
So he answered them, "Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news proclaimed to them.
(Now all the people who heard this, even the tax collectors, acknowledged God's justice, because they had been baptized with John's baptism.
Those along the path are the ones who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
But when Jesus heard this, he told him, "Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed."
Now Herod the tetrarch heard about everything that was happening, and he was thoroughly perplexed, because some people were saying that John had been raised from the dead,
So then whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops.
When one of those at the meal with Jesus heard this, he said to him, "Blessed is everyone who will feast in the kingdom of God!"
"Now his older son was in the field. As he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.
The Pharisees (who loved money) heard all this and ridiculed him.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was extremely wealthy.
When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what was going on.
He will come and destroy those tenants and give the vineyard to others." When the people heard this, they said, "May this never happen!"
Then they said, "Why do we need further testimony? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!"
Now when Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.
When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see him perform some miraculous sign.
When John's two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said and followed Jesus.
He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.
Now when Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that he was winning and baptizing more disciples than John
They said to the woman, "No longer do we believe because of your words, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this one really is the Savior of the world."
When he heard that Jesus had come back from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and begged him to come down and heal his son, who was about to die.
And the Father who sent me has himself testified about me. You people have never heard his voice nor seen his form at any time,
Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, said, "This is a difficult saying! Who can understand it?"
The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about Jesus, so the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
When they heard these words, some of the crowd began to say, "This really is the Prophet!"
Now when they heard this, they began to drift away one at a time, starting with the older ones, until Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.
I have many things to say and to judge about you, but the Father who sent me is truthful, and the things I have heard from him I speak to the world."
I am telling you the things I have seen while with the Father; as for you, practice the things you have heard from the Father!"
But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do this!
Never before has anyone heard of someone causing a man born blind to see.
Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, so he found the man and said to him, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"
Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and asked him, "We are not blind too, are we?"
When Jesus heard this, he said, "This sickness will not lead to death, but to God's glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it."
So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he remained in the place where he was for two more days.
So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary was sitting in the house.
So when Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him.
