Matthew 26:54-56

How then will the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen this way? That very hour Jesus said to the people, Have you come out to take me with swords and sticks as if I were a thief? You did not take me when I taught in the Temple daily. This has taken place so that the writings of the prophets will come true. Then all his disciples left him.

Matthew 26:24

1 Corinthians 15:3-5

1 Peter 1:10-12

Concerning this salvation the prophets inquired and searched diligently! God revealed to the prophets that the things they spoke were not for their own benefit but for yours. The Holy Spirit was sent from heaven to make known to you what the prophets spoke. Matthew 1:22-23

All this happened so that what God spoke through the prophet came true: The virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel, which means: God (God-like one) is with us. (John 1:18)

Matthew 12:17-21

This fulfilled what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet. Look! My servant whom I have chosen. I am well pleased with him. I will put my Spirit upon him and he will declare judgment to the nations. He will not quarrel, nor cry aloud. None will hear his voice in the streets.read more.

Isaiah 42:1-4

He will not lose hope or courage. He will establish justice on the earth. Distant lands eagerly wait for his law.

Matthew 21:4-5

The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it. After all, they repented at the preaching of Jonah. Yet someone greater than Jonah is here.

Luke 11:29-32

When the crowd gathered to him, he said: This generation is evil. It seeks a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah. Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites; the Son of man will be a sign to this generation. The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation. The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation. They will condemn it for they repented at the preaching of Jonah and someone greater than Jonah is here now.

Matthew 16:4

An evil and false generation is searching after a sign. However, no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah. Then he left them.

This is a symbol that points to the present time. It means that the offerings and animal sacrifices presented to God cannot make the worshiper's heart perfect, since they have to do only with food, drink, and various purification ceremonies. These are all outward rules, which apply only until the time comes to change them for something better. Christ came as the high priest of the good things that are now here. He also went into a much better tent that is not made by humans and does not belong to this creation. He went once and forever into the Most Holy Place having eternal salvation. It is not with the blood of goats and young bulls, but with his blood. The blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes from the burning of a young cow, sprinkled on the unclean made them outwardly clean. The blood of Christ did even more. Through the eternal Spirit he offered himself without blemish to God and cleansed your conscience from dead works. Now we can serve (worship) the living God.

1 Peter 1:18-19

Know that you were redeemed from your futile way of life inherited from your fathers. [The redemption] was not with corruptible things like silver or gold, but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, even the blood of Christ.

He who saw testified and his testimony is true. He knows and he speaks truth that you also may believe.

1 Corinthians 15:14-15

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved, do not believe every spirit. Test the spirits to see whether they are from God. This is because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here is how you know the Spirit of God, every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ came in the flesh is from God. Every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist that you heard was coming and now it is already in the world.
