'Put to Shame' in the Bible

Guard me and deliver me;do not let me be put to shame,for I take refuge in You.

Let them be put to shame and terrified forever;let them perish in disgrace.

Show me a sign of Your goodness;my enemies will see and be put to shamebecause You, Lord, have helped and comforted me.

All who serve carved images,those who boast in idols, will be put to shame.All the gods must worship Him.

Though they curse, You will bless.When they rise up, they will be put to shame,but Your servant will rejoice.

Let the arrogant be put to shamefor slandering me with lies;I will meditate on Your precepts.

May my heart be blameless regarding Your statutesso that I will not be put to shame.

Happy is the man who has filled his quiver with them.Such men will never be put to shamewhen they speak with their enemies at the city gate.

The moon will be put to shameand the sun disgraced,because the Lord of Hosts will reign as kingon Mount Zion in Jerusalem,and He will display His gloryin the presence of His elders.

Lord, Your hand is lifted up to take action,but they do not see it.They will see Your zeal for Your people,and they will be put to shame.The fire for Your adversaries will consume them!

All who make idols are nothing,and what they treasure does not profit.Their witnesses do not see or know anything,so they will be put to shame.

Look, all its worshipers will be put to shame,and the craftsmen are humans.They all will assemble and stand;they all will be startled and put to shame.

All of them are put to shame, even humiliated;the makers of idols go in humiliation together.

Israel will be saved by the Lordwith an everlasting salvation;you will not be put to shame or humiliatedfor all eternity.

It will be said to Me: Righteousness and strengthis only in the Lord.”All who are enraged against Himwill come to Him and be put to shame.

Kings will be your foster fathers,and their queens your nursing mothers.They will bow down to youwith their faces to the ground,and lick the dust at your feet.Then you will know that I am Yahweh;those who put their hope in Mewill not be put to shame.

The Lord God will help Me;therefore I have not been humiliated;therefore I have set My face like flint,and I know I will not be put to shame.

“Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame;don’t be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced.For you will forget the shame of your youth,and you will no longer rememberthe disgrace of your widowhood.

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:My servants will eat,but you will be hungry;My servants will drink,but you will be thirsty;My servants will rejoice,but you will be put to shame.

You who tremble at His word,hear the word of the Lord:“Your brothers who hate and exclude youbecause of Me have said,‘Let the Lord be glorifiedso that we can see your joy!’But they will be put to shame.”

Like the shame of a thief when he is caught,so the house of Israel has been put to shame.They, their kings, their officials,their priests, and their prophets

How unstable you are,constantly changing your ways!You will be put to shame by Egyptjust as you were put to shame by Assyria.

The wise will be put to shame;they will be dismayed and snared.They have rejected the word of the Lord,so what wisdom do they really have?

Everyone is stupid and ignorant.Every goldsmith is put to shameby his carved image,for his cast images are a lie;there is no breath in them.

They have sown wheat but harvested thorns.They have exhausted themselves but have no profit.Be put to shame by your harvestsbecause of the Lord’s burning anger.

Lord, the hope of Israel,all who abandon Youwill be put to shame.All who turn away from Mewill be written in the dirt,for they have abandonedthe Lord, the fountain of living water.

Let my persecutors be put to shame,but don’t let me be put to shame.Let them be terrified, but don’t let me be terrified.Bring on them the day of disaster;shatter them with total destruction.

Daughter Egypt will be put to shame,handed over to a northern people.

About Moab, this is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says:Woe to Nebo, because it is about to be destroyed;Kiriathaim will be put to shame; it will be taken captive.The fortress will be put to shame and dismayed!

Moab will be put to shame because of Chemosh,just as the house of Israel was put to shamebecause of Bethel that they trusted in.

Moab is put to shame, indeed dismayed.Wail and cry out!Declare by the Arnonthat Moab is destroyed.

About Damascus:Hamath and Arpad are put to shame,for they have heard a bad report and are agitated;in the sea there is anxiety that cannot be calmed.

Announce to the nations;proclaim and raise up a signal flag;proclaim, and hide nothing.Say: Babylon is captured;Bel is put to shame;Marduk is devastated;her idols are put to shame;her false gods, devastated.

your mother will be utterly humiliated;she who bore you will be put to shame.Look! She will lag behind all the nations—a dry land, a wilderness, an Arabah.

On that day you will not be put to shamebecause of everything you have donein rebelling against Me.For then I will removeyour proud, arrogant people from among you,and you will never again be haughtyon My holy mountain.

As it is written:Look! I am putting a stone in Zion to stumble overand a rock to trip over,yet the one who believes on Himwill not be put to shame.

Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame,

For it is contained in Scripture:Look! I lay a stone in Zion,a chosen and honored cornerstone,and the one who believes in Himwill never be put to shame!

However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear, so that when you are accused, those who denounce your Christian life will be put to shame.
