resist him steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are to be accomplished in the company of your brethren that are in the world.
and hast suffered, and doth suffer and for my name's sake hast laboured and hast not fainted.
and have your honest conversation among the Gentiles, so that, in that which they murmur about you as of evildoers, having witnessed your good works, they may glorify God in the day of visitation.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who speak evil about you, and persecute you;
Not defending yourselves, dearly beloved; but rather give place unto the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore, if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
For this is the will of God, that in well doing ye may silence the ignorance of vain men,
having a good conscience, so in that which they murmur against you as of evildoers, those that blaspheme your good conversation in the Christ may be confused.
And not only this, but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope; and the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.
For his anger endures but a moment; in his will is life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in the heavens; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Blessed are ye when men shall hate you and when they shall separate you from their company and shall reproach you and cast out your name as evil for the sake of the Son of man. Rejoice ye in that day and leap for joy; for, behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers treated the prophets in the same manner.
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
And the multitude rose up together against them, and the magistrates rent off their clothes and commanded to beat them. And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely, who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison and made their feet fast in the stocks.read more.
But at midnight as Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God, and the prisoners heard them,
who now rejoice in my sufferings for you and fulfill in my flesh that which is lacking of the tribulations of the Christ for his body's sake, which is the congregation ,
In which ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are afflicted in diverse temptations,
Beloved, think it not strange when you are tried by fire (which is done to prove you) as though some strange thing happened unto you,
Chet It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed because his mercies never diminish. Chet They are new every morning; great is thy faith.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me, even though they were too strong for me. They were ready for me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my staff. He brought me forth also into a wide place; he delivered me because he delighted in me.
The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those that trust in him. But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of his place, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
For I know with certainty that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory which shall be manifested in us.

Therefore I will wait for the LORD; I will wait for the God of my saving health; my God will hear me. Do not rejoice against me, O my enemy; for if I have fallen, I shall arise; if I sit in darkness, the LORD is my light.
And shall not God avenge his own elect who cry day and night unto him though he bears long regarding them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?
But the end of all things is at hand; be ye, therefore, temperate and watch unto prayer.
For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall transform our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is also able to subdue all things unto himself.
seeing it is a just thing with God to recompense tribulation to those that trouble you and to give you, who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power, with flaming fire, to take vengeance on those that do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,

For which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer; behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.
And one of the elders responded and asked me, Who are these who are arrayed in long white robes? and where did they come from? And I said unto him, lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are those who came out of great tribulation and have washed their long robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple, and he that is seated on the throne shall dwell among them.read more.

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may count all my bones: they look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them and cast lots upon my vesture.
I gave my back to the smiters and my cheeks to those that plucked off the hair: I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he did not open his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall count his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the rebellion of my people he was smitten. And he made his grave with the wicked, and his death with the rich; even though he had never done evil, neither was any deceit in his mouth.read more.
With all this the LORD chose to bruise him; subjecting him to grief. When he shall have offered his soul for atonement, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall be prospered in his hand. Then he released Barabbas unto them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him and put on him a scarlet robe.read more.
And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head and a reed in his right hand; and they bowed the knee before him and mocked him, saying, Receive joy, King of the Jews! And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified. And the soldiers led him away into the hall called Praetorium, and they call together the whole band. And they clothed him with purple and platted a crown of thorns and put it about his headread more.
and began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! And they smote him on the head with a reed and spit upon him and bowing their knees worshipped him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him and put his own clothes on him and led him out to crucify him.
For what glory is it if, when ye are buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is due to grace from God. Because for this were ye called: for the Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps who did no sin neither was guile found in his mouth,read more.
who, when he was cursed, did not return the curse; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously;
But also if ye suffer anything for righteousness' sake, blessed are ye; therefore, be not afraid of their terror neither be troubled, but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to respond to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and reverence, having a good conscience, so in that which they murmur against you as of evildoers, those that blaspheme your good conversation in the Christ may be confused.read more.
For it is better (if the will of God so desires) that ye suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of the afflictions of the Christ, so that also in the revelation of his glory, ye may rejoice in triumph. If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; for the glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you; certainly on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.
