It is the object of this article to give a brief account of St. John's teaching as contained in his Gospel and Epistles. Without prejudging in any way the authorship of the Apocalypse, it will be more convenient that the doctrine of that book should be considered separately. Enough if it be said here that, despite the obvious and very striking difference in the form and style of the book, the underlying similarities between it and those to be now considered are no less remarkable. Careful students, not blinded by the symbolism and other peculiarities of the Revelation, who have concentrated attention upon its main ideas and principles, have come to the conclusion that if it did not proceed from the same pen that wrote the Gospel and Epistles, it belongs to the same school of Christian thought. By the word of Yahweh, the heavens were made, and, by the spirit of his mouth, all their host:
Who sendeth his utterance to the earth, How swiftly, runneth his word!
So, shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth, It shall not return unto me void, - But shall accomplish that which I please, And shall prosper in that whereunto I have sent it.
On the morrow, he beholdeth Jesus, coming unto him, and saith - See! the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world.
And, just as, Moses, lifted up the serpent in the desert, so, must, the Son of Man, be lifted up, -

To this end, was the Son of God made manifest, in order that he might undo the works of the adversary. Herein, hath love with us, been made perfect, - in order that, boldness, we might have in the day of judging, - in that, just as, He, is, we also, are, in this world.

Whosoever believeth that, Jesus, is the Christ, of God, hath been born: and, whosoever loveth him that begat, loveth him that hath been begotten of him.
Because, whatsoever hath been born of God, overcometh the world; and, this, is the victory that hath overcome the world - our faith.
We know that, whosoever hath been born of God, is not committing sin, - Nay, he that hath been born of God, He keepeth him, and, the wicked one, doth not touch him.

and arrayed with a mantle sprinkled with blood, and his name hath been called - The Word of God.
