The birth of Jesus Christ took place as follows:--His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but, before the marriage took place, she found herself to be with child by the power of the Holy Spirit.
And, sending them to Bethlehem, he said: "Go and make careful inquiries about the child, and, as soon as you have found him, bring me word, that I, too, may go and do homage to him."
When Herod found that he had been trifled with by the Astrologers, he was very angry. He sent and put to death all the boys in Bethlehem and the whole of that neighborhood, who were two years old or under, guided by the date which he had ascertained from the Astrologers.

And, noticing a solitary fig tree by the road-side, he went up to it, but found nothing on it but leaves. So he said to it: "Never again shall fruit be gathered off you." And suddenly the fruit tree withered up.
So go to the cross-roads, and invite everyone you find to the banquet.'
The servants went out into the roads and collected all the people whom they found, whether bad or good; and the bridal-hall was filled with guests.
Happy will that servant be whom his master, when he comes home, shall find doing this.
Then he came to his disciples, and found them asleep. "What!" he said to Peter, "could none of you watch with me for one hour?
But they did not find any, although many came forward with false evidence. Later on, however, two men came forward and said:
When they came to Jesus, they found the possessed man sitting there, clothed and in his right mind--the very man who had had the 'Legion' in him--and they were awe-struck.
Because Herod stood in fear of John, knowing him to be an upright and holy man, and protected him. He had listened to John, but still remained much perplexed, and yet he found pleasure in listening to him.

Some of the people were bringing little children to Jesus, for him to touch them; but the disciples found fault with those who had brought them.
"Go to the village facing you," he said; "and, as soon as you get there, you will find a foal tethered, which no one has ever ridden; untie it, and bring it.
And, noticing a fig-tree at a distance in leaf, he went to it to see if by any chance he could find something on it; but, on coming up to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.
"I tell you that if any one should say to this hill 'Be lifted up and hurled into the sea!', without ever a doubt in his mind, but in the faith that what he says will be done, he would find that it would be.
And therefore I say to you 'Have faith that whatever you ask for in prayer is already granted you, and you will find that it will be.'
"Let her alone," said Jesus, as they began to find fault with her, "why are you troubling her? This is a beautiful deed that she has done for me.
So the disciples set out and went into the city, and found everything just as Jesus had told them; and they prepared the Passover.
Then he came and found the three Apostles asleep. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Could not you watch for one hour?
And coming back again he found them asleep, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to say to him.
Meanwhile the Chief Priest and the whole of the High Council were trying to get such evidence against Jesus as would warrant his being put to death, but they could not find any;
When the angel spoke again: "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
And they made signs to the child's father, to find out what he wished the child to be called.
And this shall be the sign for you. You will find the infant swathed, and lying in a manger."
And then, as they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching everywhere for him.
It was not till the third day that they found him in the Temple Courts, sitting among the Teachers, now listening to them, now asking them questions.
The book given him was that of the Prophet Isaiah; and Jesus opened the book and found the place where it says--
The Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees watched Jesus closely, to see if he would work cures on the Sabbath, so that they might find a charge to bring against him.
When they found Jesus, they earnestly implored him to do so. "He is a man who deserves that you should show him this favor," they said,
When these men found Jesus, they said: "John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask--'Are you 'The Coming One,' or are we to look for somebody else?'"
The people went out to see what had happened, and, when they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at Jesus' feet; and they were awe-struck.
The day was drawing to a close, when the twelve came up to him, and said: "Send the crowd away, so that they may make their way to the villages and farms round about, and find themselves lodgings and provisions, for we are in a lonely spot here."
And, as the voice ceased, Jesus was found alone. The Apostles kept silence, and told no one about any of the things that they had seen.
And so I say to you--Ask, and your prayer shall be granted: search, and you shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you.
Happy are those servants whom, on his return, the Master will find watching. I tell you that he will make himself ready, and bid them take their places at table, and will come and wait upon them.
Happy will that servant be whom his master, when he comes home, shall find doing this.
And Jesus told them this parable-- "A man, who had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, came to look for fruit on it, but could not find any.
But the Pharisees and the Teachers of the Law found fault. "This man always welcomes outcasts, and takes meals with them!" they complained.
And, when he has found it, he puts in on his shoulders rejoicing;
And, on reaching home, he calls his friends and his neighbors together, and says 'Come and rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.'
And, when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, and says 'Come and rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I lost.'
For here is my son who was dead, and is alive again, was lost, and is found.' So they began making merry.
We could but make merry and rejoice, for here is your brother who was dead, and is alive; who was lost, and is found.'"
He will, I tell you, have justice done them, and that soon! Yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"

But Pilate, turning to the Chief Priests and the people, said: "I do not see anything to find fault with in this man."
And said to them: "You brought this man before me charged with misleading the people; and yet, for my part, though I examined him before you, I did not find this man to blame for any of the things of which you accuse him;
"Why, what harm has this man done?" Pilate said to them for the third time. "I have found nothing in him for which he could be condemned to death. So I will have him scourged, and then release him."
And, on going into it, they could not find the body [of the Lord Jesus].
So some of our number went to the tomb and found everything just as the women had said; but they did not see Jesus."
Then they immediately got up and returned to Jerusalem, where they found the Eleven and their companions all together,
He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him: "We have found the Messiah!" (a word which means 'Christ,' or 'Consecrated'.)
The following day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. He found Philip, and said to him: "Follow me."
He found Nathanael and said to him: "We have found him of whom Moses wrote in the Law, and of whom the Prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, Joseph's son!"
In the Temple Courts he found people who were selling bullocks, sheep, and pigeons, and the money-changers at their counters.
At this moment his disciples came up, and were surprised to find him talking with a woman; but none of them asked 'What do you want?' or 'Why are you talking with her?'
Afterwards Jesus found the man in the Temple Courts, and said to him: "You are cured now; do not sin again, for fear that something worse may befall you."
You search the Scriptures, because you think that you find in them Immortal Life;
And, when they found him on the other side of the Sea, they said: "When did you get here, Rabbi?"
If any one has the will to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching is from God, or whether I speak on my own authority.
You will look for me, and you will not find me; and you will not be able to come where I shall be."
