when the multitude therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and there they died.
It is the Spirit that gives Life; mere flesh is of no avail. In the teaching that I have been giving you there is Spirit and there is Life.
But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that should betray him.
Then after these things happened, Jesus traveled in Galilee [only], for He did not want to move around in Judea because the Jews [there] were trying to kill Him.
his relations said to him, retire hence, and go into Judea, that your disciples there may also see the works that you do.

And there was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him: some said, He is a good man; others said, Not so, but he leadeth the multitude astray.
The one who speaks from himself seeks his own glory. But the one who seeks the glory of the one who sent him--this one is true, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
"There was one thing I did," replied Jesus, "at which you are all still wondering.
yet there he is talking publickly without any opposition: are not the rulers convinc'd that he is the Messiah?
Then, when he was teaching in the Temple, Jesus said with a loud voice, You have knowledge of me and you have knowledge of where I come from; and I have not come of myself; but there is One who has sent me; he is true, but you have no knowledge of him.
You shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, there you cannot come.
What manner of saying is this that he said, You shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, there you cannot come?
In the last day, the most solemn day of the feast, Jesus being there, raised his voice, and said, if any man thirst, let him come to me, and drink.
This spake he of the spirit, which they that believed on him should receive. For the holy ghost was not yet there, because that Jesus was not yet glorified.
So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.
At break of day however He returned to the Temple, and there the people came to Him in crowds. He seated Himself;
But they, having heard that, went out one by one beginning from the elder ones until the last; and Jesus was left alone and the woman standing there.
then Jesus raising himself, and seeing none but the woman there, he said to her, woman, where are your accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
Even if I should judge, my decision is fair, because I am not alone, but there are two of us, I and the Father who has sent me.
a slave has no right to be in the house for life: but the son is settled there.
I know that you are Abraham's descendants, and yet you are trying to kill me, because there is no room in you for my teaching.
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.
But I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
"Were I to glorify myself," answered Jesus, "I should have no real glory. There is One who glorifies me--namely my Father, who you say is your God.
Jesus told them, "Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, before there was an Abraham, I AM!"
We must needs be working the works of him that sent me, while it is, day: There cometh a night, when, no one, can work.
Then the neighbors, who had seen the man begging previously, said, "Is not this the man who [used to] sit there and beg?"
Some therefore of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. But others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such signs? And there was division among them.
And there was a division among them. They say to the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, for that he hath opened thine eyes?
The man answered them, "Well, there is something strange about this! You do not know where He comes from! And yet He has made my eyes to see!
Then Jesus said,
Jesus said to them, If you were blind you would have no sin: but now that you say, We see; your sin is there still.
because he is a hireling and there is not a care to him for the sheep.
other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring; they will hear my voice; and so there shall be but one fold, and one pastor.
There was another schism therefore among the Jews, occasion'd by this discourse.
And there was the festival of inauguration among the Jerusalemites, and it was winter..
In answer, Jesus said, Is there not a saying in your law, I said, You are gods?
to the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
so that many people there believed on him.
Now there was a certain man sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and Martha her sister.
“Rabbi,”
Jesus answered, are there not twelve hours in the day? he that travels by day does not stumble, because he has the light of this world to see by.
but if a man travels by night he stumbles, because there is no light for him.
He said this, and after that He added, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to wake him."
Then said Jesus to them plainly, Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sake I was not there, that ye may believe:
and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there (to the intent you may believe) but now, let us go to him.
When Jesus reached there, He found that Lazarus had been buried for four days.
A number of the Jews had come there to condole with Martha and Mary on their brother's death.
the Jews then who were with Mary in the house to comfort her, when they saw that she rose in such haste, and went out, followed her, saying, she is going to the grave to weep there.
Jesus says, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of the dead, says to him, Lord, he stinks already, for he is four days there.
For which reason he did not afterwards appear publickly among the Jews; but retir'd into the country near the desart, to a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
and there remained with his disciples. Now the Jewish Passover was near, and many people went up from the country to Jerusalem for purification before the Passover.
So they looked for Jesus there, and said to one another, as they stood in the Temple Courts: "What do you think? Do you think he will come to the Festival?"
there a supper was provided for him; Martha was in waiting: but Lazarus was one of the guests that sat at table with him.
And He spoke this, not because there was a care to him for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the purse, and was carrying those things cast in.
a great multitude of Jews knowing that Jesus was there, went thither, not for his sake only, but likewise to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
Now there was talk among the chief priests of putting Lazarus to death;
The day after, a great number of people who were there for the feast, when they had the news that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
Then the Pharisees told one another, "You see, there is nothing you can do. Look, the world has gone after him!"
Now there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast:
there were certain Greeks, who address'd themselves to Philip, who was of Bethsaida in Galilee, saying, sir, we would fain see Jesus.
verily, verily I say unto you, when a corn of wheat is thrown into the ground, there it lies a single grain unless it dies: but if it die, it becomes very fruitful.
if any man would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my servant be: whoever serves me, him will my father reward.
father, glorify thy name." then there came this voice from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again."
The crowd standing there heard it and said it was thunder. Others said that an angel had spoken to Him.
Now, is there, a judging, of this world, - Now, the ruler of this world, shall be cast out;
[So], believe in the Light [i.e., Jesus is speaking of Himself] while you [still] have the Light [with you], so that you can become enlightened people." After Jesus said these things, He left there and hid Himself from them.
nevertheless there were many even among the chief rulers, who believed on him; but they did not own it publickly for fear the Pharisees should excommunicate them.
There was at the table reclining in Jesus bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
Peter [then] said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow you [there] even now? I am willing to die for you."
In my Father's house there are many dwelling places; but if not, I would have told you, because I am going away to prepare a place for you.
and when I am gone, and have prepar'd a place for you, I will come again, to take you with me, that where I am there ye may be also.
Thomas said to Jesus, "Lord, we do not know where you are going; how could we [possibly] know the way [to get there]?"
there cannot be greater love than that of a man, who lays down his life for his friends.
Excommunicants from the synagogue, will they make you; Nay! there cometh an hour, that, every one who killeth you, shall think to be rendering, divine service, unto God!
'These things in similitudes I have spoken to you, but there cometh an hour when no more in similitudes will I speak to you, but freely of the Father, will tell you.
Jesus answered them, 'Now do ye believe? lo, there doth come an hour,
Lo! there cometh an hour, and hath come, that ye should be scattered, each, unto his own home; and, me, alone, should leave; - And yet I am not, alone, but, the Father, is, with me!
So now, Father, glorify me up there in your presence just as you did before the world existed.
I have made your self known to them and I will do so still, so that the love which you have had for me may be in their hearts, and I may be there also."
After
and Judas also, who delivered him up, had known the place, because many times did Jesus assemble there with his disciples.
So Judas took a company of soldiers and some temple police from the chief priests and the Pharisees
Their answer was, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus said, I am he. And Judas, who was false to him, was there at their side.
Simon Peter followed along with another disciple. [Note: Some think this refers to the apostle John himself, but there is no strong evidence in favor of that conclusion]. Now that disciple was [well-] known to the head priest, so was able to enter his courtyard with Jesus
now the servants and officers that were there, had made a coal-fire, for it was cold, to warm themselves: and Peter stood warming himself among them.
Upon his expressing himself thus, one of the officers there present, struck Jesus on the face, saying, answerest thou the high priest so?
Jesus replied,
as Simon Peter then stood there warming himself: they said to him, art not thou also one of his disciples? which he denied, and said, I am not.
But there is a custom for you that I should release to you one man at the Passover. Do ye wish therefore I would release to you the king of the Jews?
So Jesus came out, wearing the wreath of thorns and the crimson cloak. And Pilate said to them, "See, there is the man."
And from there on Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If you let this man go, you are not Caesar's friend: whosoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.
(It was the day when they made ready for the Passover; and it was about the sixth hour.) And he said to the Jews, There is your King!
There they crucified Him and two others with Him, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle.
And Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. And there was written, JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
They said therefore among themselves, Let us not divide it, but cast lots for it, whose it will be, so that the scripture might be fulfilled, which says, They parted my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. There
