Look to (consider without distractions) Jesus, the Leader (Predecessor) and Finisher (Perfecter) of our faith. He despised the shame. He endured the stake for the joy that was set before him. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For this you were called because Christ also suffered for you. He left you an example (a copy for imitation) (a model) that you should follow in his steps.

Many live as enemies of the stake of Christ. I often wept as I told you about them.
Anyone who does not pick up his stake and follow me is not worthy of me.
He told them all: If any man would come after me let him deny himself. Let him take up his stake (of self-denial) daily, and follow me.
Those who do not carry their own stake and come after me may not be my disciples.
Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the good news: not with wisdom of words, lest the stake of Christ be emptied of its effect. For the preaching of the stake is foolishness to those who perish. It is the power of God to us who are saved.
But I, brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then has the stumbling block of the stake been done away?
