And if thy brother trespass against thee, go and expostulate with him alone; if he hearken to thee, thou hast gained thy brother: but if he regard thee not, take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he disregard them, tell it to the church: but if he disregard the church too, let him be unto thee as an heathen and a publican.

And after some days Paul said to Barnabas, Let us return and visit our brethren in every city, where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are. And there was a sharp dispute, so that they separated from each other; and Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus: but Paul chose Silas and departed, being recommended to the grace of God.

When thou art going with thine adversary to the magistrate, endeavour while thou art in the way to be discharged, least he force thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer carry thee to prison.

These things remind them of, charging them before the Lord not to contend about words, which is profitable for nothing, and tends to the subversion of the hearers.

Dare any of you, having a matter of complaint against another, try it before the unjust, and not before the saints?

Or is it I only and Barnabas, that have not power to forbear working?

Receive him that is weak in the faith, but not to disputes about doubtful matters:

Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is useful to me in the ministry.

For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by some of Chloe's family, that there are contentions among you. I mean, that each of you saith, as if of different parties, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye would all say alike, and that there may be no schisms among you, but that ye be perfectly united in the same mind and in the same judgement.

Because ye are still carnal: for while there is among you envy and strife and divisions, are ye not carnal, and do ye not walk as men? For when one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos, are ye not carnal?

Let us then pursue peace, and mutual edification.

Now I exhort you, brethren, to mark those who cause divisions and offences, contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned:

And may the God of patience and consolation grant you the like mutual affection to each other, according to the example of Christ Jesus:

For I am afraid least when I come, I should not find you such as I could wish, and I should be found to you such as ye would not: least there should be contentions, emulations, animosities, strifes, thwartings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: and least,

but foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they produce quarrels; for the servant of the Lord ought not to wrangle,

Now some that came down from Judea, taught the brethren, saying, Except ye be circumcised according to the law of Moses, ye cannot be saved. A dissension therefore arising, and Paul and Barnabas having no small dispute with them, it was resolved that Paul and Barnabas, and some others, should go up to the apostles and elders at Jerusalem about this question.

Finally, my brethren, farewel: be reformed, be exhorted, be of one mind, live in peace: and the God of love and peace will be with you.

But Jesus, who well knew their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself becomes desolate; and no city, or family, divided against itself can stand:

endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace: for there is but one body and one Spirit,

But we believe that we shall be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, in like manner as they. if any bowels of compassion, compleat ye my joy, be like-minded, maintaining the same love, with your souls united, in attending to the one thing needful. Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind each esteeming others better than themselves.

Finally, my beloved, be unanimous, be sympathizing, love as brethren, be compassionate, be courteous:

I speak it to your shame. What! is there not one wise man among you, that is able to judge between his bretheren? But one brother goeth to law with another, and this before infidels.

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and strifes and contentions about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain: reject therefore such an heretical man, after the first and second admonition; knowing that such a one is perverted, and sinneth as being self-condemned.

As I exhorted thee to stay at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain persons not to teach other doctrine, nor attend to fables and endless genealogies, which occasion debates, rather than pious edification in the faith:

for where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

for many bare false witness against Him, and the evidences did not agree.
