'Of the World' in the Bible

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

but God chose the foolish things of the world, that He might put to shame the wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that He might put to shame the things that are strong;

and the base things of the world, and things despised, did God choose, and the things that are not, that He might bring to nought the things that are;

And we received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit Who is of God; that we may know the things freely given us by God.

being defamed, we entreat; we were made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, until now.

not at all meaning, with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or idolaters; since ye ought, in that event, to go out of the world;

but he that is married is anxious for the things of the world, how he may please his wife,

and has become divided. And the unmarried woman and the virgin is anxious for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but she that is married is anxious for the things of the world, that she may please her husband.
