Hold them guilty, God. Let them fall by their own counsels; Thrust them out in the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against you.

The wicked man is so arrogant he always thinks, "God won't hold me accountable; he doesn't care."

Why does the wicked man reject God? He says to himself, "You will not hold me accountable."

Break the arm of the wicked and evil man! Hold him accountable for his wicked deeds, which he thought you would not discover.

Yahweh [is] the portion [which is] my share and my cup. You hold my lot.

He reached down from heaven
and took hold of me;

Thou hast given me the defense of thy salvation; thy right hand also shall hold me up, and thy loving correction shall make me great. {TYNDALE: And thou hast saved me with thy shield, and keptest me ever in meekness.}

Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts! Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O Lord!

Thou hast taken hold of the watches of mine eyes, I have been moved, and I speak not.

Yet he is compassionate. He forgives sin and does not destroy. He often holds back his anger, and does not stir up his fury.
