Now the men who were holding Jesus under guard began to mock him and beat him.
Finding that He was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod,
When Herod saw Jesus he was delighted, for he had wanted for a long time to see him, because he had heard about him and he hoped to see some wonder done by him.
For he was under a necessity of releasing one to them at the feast.
But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost thou too not fear God, thou that art under the same judgment?

One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and say to him, "We have found the Anointed One!" (which is translated "Messiah").
Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said,
[Then] on the next day He [i.e., Jesus, but some think it refers to Peter or Andrew] decided to travel into Galilee, [and there] He found Philip. Jesus said to Philip, "Become my follower."
Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
Nathaniel said to him: How knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him: Before Philip called you, while you were under the fig-tree, I saw you.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
Jesus answered and said to him: Do you believe, be cause I said to you, I saw you under the fig-tree? You shall see greater things than these. And he said to him: Verily, verily I say to you, From this time you shall see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
Jesus performed this, the first of His wonder-works, at Cana in Galilee. By it He showed His glorious power, and so His disciples believed in Him.
Then the Jews said, "This temple has been under construction forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?"
Now while He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people, because they saw the wonder-works which He was performing, trusted in Him as the Christ.
He came to Jesus one night and said to Him, "Teacher, we know that you have come from God, for no one can perform the wonder-works that you are doing, unless God is with him."
Jesus said to him, "Truly, truly, I tell you, a person cannot see the kingdom of God [i.e., enter it. See verse 5], unless he is born from above [Note: The words "from above" are also used in verse 31, but in this place they could also mean "again," or "anew" and refer to the source of a person's second birth].
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is already under condemnation, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.
The Father loves the Son and has placed all things under his authority.
He who believes in the Son has the Life of the Ages; he who disobeys the Son will not enter into Life, but God's anger remains upon him.
I sent you [disciples] to harvest [a crop] that you did not work on; other people have done the work and you have reaped the results of their work." [Note: This is probably an allusion to the preliminary work of preaching done by John, the Immerser, with results occurring under the preaching of the apostles].
This is the second wonder-work that Jesus performed after He had come back from Judea to Galilee.
and under these a large number of sick people were lying blind, lame, or paralyzed waiting for the movement of the water.
For an angel descended at a certain season in the pool and troubled the water. Whoever therefore first went in after the troubling of the water became well, whatever disease he laboured under.

when therefore the multitude saw that Jesus is not there, nor his disciples, they also themselves did enter into the boats, and came to Capernaum seeking Jesus;
Jesus answered them, "I most solemnly say to you, you are looking for me, not because of the wonder-works you saw, but because you ate the loaves and had plenty.
So they asked Him, "What wonder-work then are you going to perform for us to see and so believe in you? What work are you going to do?
The crowd answered, "You are certainly under the power of a demon! Who is trying to kill you?"
But many of the crowd believed in Him, and said, "When the Christ comes, He will not perform greater wonder-works than He did, will He?"
The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things [under their breath] about Him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent
Then He said again to them,
They answered him, We are Abraham's seed, and have never been under bondage to any one; how sayest thou, Ye shall become free?
The Jews answered Him, “Are we not right when we say You are a

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
and they were all amazed, and did wonder, saying one unto another, 'Lo, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
"Fellow Israelites, listen to what I say. Jesus of Nazareth, as you yourselves well know, a man accredited to you by God through mighty deeds and wonders and wonder-works which God performed through Him right here among you,
Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death, as it was not possible that he should be held under it.
A sense of reverence seized everyone, and many wonders and wonder-works were done by the apostles.
