Turn back toward us, O Lord! How long must this suffering last? Have pity on your servants!

Then they say, "The Lord does not see this; the God of Jacob does not take notice of it."

Take notice of this, you ignorant people! You fools, when will you ever understand?

Zion heard this and was glad,

So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.

There, ships, sail along, This sea-monster, thou hast formed to sport therein;

All this happened
so that they might keep His statutes
and obey His instructions.

They worshipped their idols, and this became a trap for them.

Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.

Of the torrent in the way, will he drink; - For this cause, will he lift up his head.

The wicked person sees this and flies into a rage; his teeth gnash and wear away. The desire of the wicked will amount to nothing.

But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.
