For whom Jehovah loves He reproves, just like a father corrects the son he loves dearly. (Hebrews 12:6)

I know, O Jehovah, that your judgments are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

Our light affliction is for the moment. It works more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory for us. We do not look at the things that are seen, but at the things that are not seen. For the things that are seen are temporal (for a season). But the things that are not seen are eternal.

The man who endures under trial is blessed. For when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life that God promised to those who love him.

God deals with you like children. Endure discipline (instruction) (training). Who is the child whom a father does not discipline?

Blessed is the person whom God corrects. Do not despise discipline from the Almighty.

Teach us to number each of our days so that we may present to you a heart of wisdom.

Now no discipline for the present seems to be joyous. In fact it seems grievous! Nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained.

This is what Jehovah your Defender (Redeemer), the Holy One of Israel, says: I am Jehovah your God. I teach you what is best for you. I lead you where you should go.

You have forgotten the exhortation that reasons with you as to sons: My son, do not despise (regard lightly) discipline from Jehovah and do not lose heart when he corrects you. (Proverbs 3:11, 12)

My son, do not despise Jehovah's discipline or be weary of his correction.

He made you hear his voice out of heaven. That way he could instruct (teach) (correct) (discipline) you. He showed you his great fire on the earth. You heard his words from the middle of the fire.

This is what Jehovah said with his powerful hand on me. He warned me not to follow the ways of these people:

For the grace (divine influence) of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present age (world) (period of time).

It is reported that there is sexual immorality among you. This type of fornication is not even found among the people of the nations (who do not know God). There is a man who has his father's wife. And you are proud! You should have been filled with sadness that he did this deed. And you should have ejected (expelled) (excommunicated) (disfellowshiped) him from your congregation. I am not there with you in person. But I am with you in spirit. I have already judged the man who did this.read more.
When you assemble in the name and with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, I will be with you in spirit. Deliver this one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your boasting is not good. Do you know that a little leaven ferments the whole batch of dough? Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new batch of dough. For even Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us.

If anyone does not obey our word in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.

If you still will not listen to me, I will discipline you seven times for your sins.

Reprove the sinner in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.

Sufficient to such a one is this punishment that was inflicted by the many.

I have been plagued all day long, and chastened every morning.

Brothers, if someone is caught in any kind of wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should set him right. But you must do it in a gentle way. And keep an eye on yourselves, so that you will not be tempted, too.

You are great in counsel and mighty in deed. Your eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men. You give to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.

If he does not listen to you, take one or two more people with you. Two or three witnesses may prove every case.

The rebels are eager to kill. I will correct them all.

Do not offer an accusation against an elder, except at the mouth of two or three witnesses.

Although I trained (disciplined) and strengthened their arms (might) (power), yet they devise evil against me. They do not turn upward [to God]. They are like a loose bow. Their princes will fall by the sword because of the insolence of their tongue. This will be their derision in the land of Egypt.

But when we are judged, Jehovah disciplines us, that we should not be destroyed (condemned) with the world. (Proverbs 3:11)

If you are without discipline, you are illegitimate children, and not sons.

Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh that corrected us, and we gave them respect. Shall we not much more be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?

They disciplined us for a few days for their own pleasure. He disciplines for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Blessed is the person whom God corrects. Do not despise discipline from the Almighty. God inflicts wounds and he bandages. He strikes but his hands make you well.

Jehovah, how happy are those you instruct, the ones to whom you teach your law!

Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word.
