'Earth' in the Bible

Then the nations will fear the name of Yahweh,and all the kings of the earth Your glory,

He looked down from His holy heights—the Lord gazed out from heaven to earth—

Long ago You established the earth,and the heavens are the work of Your hands.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,so great is His faithful lovetoward those who fear Him.

He established the earth on its foundations;it will never be shaken.

You set a boundary they cannot cross;they will never cover the earth again.

He waters the mountains from His palace;the earth is satisfied by the fruit of Your labor.

He causes grass to grow for the livestockand provides crops for man to cultivate,producing food from the earth,

How countless are Your works, Lord!In wisdom You have made them all;the earth is full of Your creatures.

When You send Your breath,they are created,and You renew the face of the earth.

He looks at the earth, and it trembles;He touches the mountains,and they pour out smoke.

May sinners vanish from the earthand wicked people be no more.My soul, praise Yahweh!Hallelujah!

He is the Lord our God;His judgments govern the whole earth.

The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan;it covered the assembly of Abiram.

God, be exalted above the heavens,and let Your glory be over the whole earth.

Let their sins always remain before the Lord,and let Him erase all memory of them from the earth.

who stoops down to lookon the heavens and the earth?

Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord,at the presence of the God of Jacob,

May you be blessed by the Lord,the Maker of heaven and earth.

The heavens are the Lord’s,but the earth He has given to the human race.

I am a stranger on earth;do not hide Your commands from me.

Lord, the earth is filled with Your faithful love;teach me Your statutes.

They almost ended my life on earth,but I did not abandon Your precepts.

Your faithfulness is for all generations;You established the earth, and it stands firm.

All the kings on earth will give You thanks, Lord,when they hear what You have promised.

My bones were not hidden from Youwhen I was made in secret,when I was formed in the depths of the earth.

who covers the sky with clouds,prepares rain for the earth,and causes grass to grow on the hills.

He sends His command throughout the earth;His word runs swiftly.

Praise the Lord from the earth,all sea monsters and ocean depths,

kings of the earth and all peoples,princes and all judges of the earth,

Let them praise the name of Yahweh,for His name alone is exalted.His majesty covers heaven and earth.

The Lord founded the earth by wisdomand established the heavens by understanding.

I was formed before ancient times,from the beginning, before the earth began.

before He made the land, the fields,or the first soil on earth.

when He set a limit for the seaso that the waters would not violate His command,when He laid out the foundations of the earth.

The righteous will never be shaken,but the wicked will not remain on the earth.

If the righteous will be repaid on earth,how much more the wicked and sinful. >

Wisdom is the focus of the perceptive,but a fool’s eyes roam to the ends of the earth.

As the heaven is high and the earth is deep,so the hearts of kings cannot be investigated.

Who has gone up to heaven and come down?Who has gathered the wind in His hands?Who has bound up the waters in a cloak?Who has established all the ends of the earth?What is His name,and what is the name of His Son—if you know?

Sheol; a childless womb;earth, which is never satisfied with water;and fire, which never says, “Enough!”

The earth trembles under three things;it cannot bear up under four:

Four things on earth are small,yet they are extremely wise:

A generation goes and a generation comes,but the earth remains forever.

Who knows if the spirit of people rises upward and the spirit of animals goes downward to the earth?

Do not be hasty to speak, and do not be impulsive to make a speech before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.

There is certainly no righteous man on the earthwho does good and never sins.

People will go into caves in the rocksand holes in the ground,away from the terror of the Lordand from His majestic splendor,when He rises to terrify the earth.

He raises a signal flag for the distant nationsand whistles for them from the ends of the earth.Look—how quickly and swiftly they come!

And one called to another:Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts;His glory fills the whole earth.

They will look toward the earth and see only distress, darkness, and the gloom of affliction, and they will be driven into thick darkness.

My hand has reached out, as if into a nest,to seize the wealth of the nations.Like one gathering abandoned eggs,I gathered the whole earth.No wing fluttered;no beak opened or chirped.

He will lift up a banner for the nationsand gather the dispersed of Israel;He will collect the scattered of Judahfrom the four corners of the earth.

Sing to Yahweh, for He has done glorious things.Let this be known throughout the earth.

Look, the day of the Lord is coming—cruel, with rage and burning anger—to make the earth a desolationand to destroy the sinners on it.

Therefore I will make the heavens tremble,and the earth will shake from its foundationsat the wrath of the Lord of Hosts,on the day of His burning anger.

All the earth is calm and at rest;people shout with a ringing cry.

Sheol below is eager to greet your coming.He stirs up the spirits of the departed for you—all the rulers of the earth.He makes all the kings of the nationsrise from their thrones.

Those who see you will stare at you;they will look closely at you:“Is this the man who caused the earth to tremble,who shook the kingdoms,

Prepare a place of slaughter for his sons,because of the iniquity of their fathers.They will never rise up to possess a landor fill the surface of the earth with cities.

This is the plan preparedfor the whole earth,and this is the hand stretched outagainst all the nations.

All you inhabitants of the worldand you who live on the earth,when a banner is raised on the mountains, look!When a trumpet sounds, listen!

Who planned this against Tyre,the bestower of crowns,whose traders are princes,whose merchants are the honored ones of the earth?

The Lord of Hosts planned it,to desecrate all its glorious beauty,to disgrace all the honored ones of the earth.

And at the end of the 70 years, the Lord will restore Tyre and she will go back into business, prostituting herself with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth.

Look, the Lord is stripping the earth bareand making it desolate.He will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants:

The earth will be stripped completely bareand will be totally plundered,for the Lord has spoken this message.

The earth mourns and withers;the world wastes away and withers;the exalted people of the earth waste away.

The earth is polluted by its inhabitants,for they have transgressed teachings,overstepped decrees,and broken the everlasting covenant.

Therefore a curse has consumed the earth,and its inhabitants have become guilty;the earth’s inhabitants have been burned,and only a few survive.

For this is how it will be on earthamong the nations:like a harvested olive tree,like a gleaning after a grape harvest.

From the ends of the earth we hear songs:The Splendor of the Righteous One.But I said, “I waste away! I waste away!Woe is me.”The treacherous act treacherously;the treacherous deal very treacherously.

Panic, pit, and trap await youwho dwell on the earth.

Whoever flees at the sound of panicwill fall into a pit,and whoever escapes from the pitwill be caught in a trap.For the windows are opened from heaven,and the foundations of the earth are shaken.

The earth is completely devastated;the earth is split open;the earth is violently shaken.

The earth staggers like a drunkardand sways like a hut.Earth’s rebellion weighs it down,and it falls, never to rise again.

On that day the Lord will punishthe host of heaven aboveand kings of the earth below.

He will destroy death forever.The Lord God will wipe away the tearsfrom every faceand remove His people’s disgracefrom the whole earth,for the Lord has spoken.

We became pregnant, we writhed in pain;we gave birth to wind.We have won no victories on earth,and the earth’s inhabitants have not fallen.

Your dead will live; their bodies will rise.Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust!For you will be covered with the morning dew,and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.

For look, the Lord is coming from His placeto punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity.The earth will reveal the blood shed on itand will no longer conceal her slain.

I will camp in a circle around you;I will besiege you with earth ramps,and I will set up my siege towers against you.

You nations, come here and listen;you peoples, pay attention!Let the earth hear, and all that fills it,the world and all that comes from it.

Lord of Hosts, God of Israel, who is enthroned above the cherubim, You are God—You alone—of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.

Now, Lord our God, save us from his power so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord—You alone.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his handor marked off the heavens with the span of his hand?Who has gathered the dust of the earth in a measureor weighed the mountains in a balanceand the hills in the scales?
