'Righteous' in the Bible
These are the family records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God.
Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you alone are righteous before Me in this generation.
Abraham stepped forward and said, “Will You really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?
What if there are 50 righteous people in the city? Will You really sweep it away instead of sparing the place for the sake of the 50 righteous people who are in it?
You could not possibly do such a thing: to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. You could not possibly do that! Won’t the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”
The Lord said, “If I find 50 righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
suppose the 50 righteous lack five. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?”He replied, “I will not destroy it if I find 45 there.”
Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron. “I have sinned this time,” he said to them. “Yahweh is the Righteous One, and I and my people are the guilty ones.
You must not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and corrupts the words of the righteous.
And what great nation has righteous statutes and ordinances like this entire law I set before you today?
“Appoint judges and officials for your tribes in all your towns the Lord your God is giving you. They are to judge the people with righteous judgment.
Do not deny justice or show partiality to anyone. Do not accept a bribe, for it blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
The Rock—His work is perfect;all His ways are entirely just.A faithful God, without prejudice,He is righteous and true.
Let them tell the righteous acts of the Lord,the righteous deeds of His warriors in Israel,with the voices of the singers at the watering places.Then the Lord’s people went down to the gates.
Now present yourselves, so I may confront you before the Lord about all the righteous acts He has done for you and your ancestors.

So the leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “Yahweh is righteous.”
Lord God of Israel, You are righteous, for we survive as a remnant today. Here we are before You with our guilt, though no one can stand in Your presence because of this.
You found his heart faithful in Your sight,and made a covenant with himto give the land of the Canaanites,Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites,Jebusites, and Girgashites—to give it to his descendants.You have kept Your promise,for You are righteous.

“Can a person be more righteous than God,or a man more pure than his Maker?”

If you are righteous, what do you give Him,or what does He receive from your hand?
He does not remove His gaze from the righteous,but He seats them forever with enthroned kings,and they are exalted.
Therefore the wicked will not survive the judgment,and sinners will not be in the community of the righteous.
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.
For You, Lord, bless the righteous one;You surround him with favor like a shield.
Let the evil of the wicked come to an end,but establish the righteous.The One who examines the thoughts and emotionsis a righteous God.
God is a righteous judgeand a God who shows His wrath every day.
For You have upheld my just cause;You are seated on Your throne as a righteous judge.
When the foundations are destroyed,what can the righteous do?”
The Lord examines the righteous and the wicked.He hates the lover of violence.
For the Lord is righteous; He loves righteous deeds.The upright will see His face.
Then they will be filled with terror,for God is with those who are righteous.
The fear of the Lord is pure,enduring forever;the ordinances of the Lord are reliableand altogether righteous.
Let lying lips be quieted;they speak arrogantly against the righteouswith pride and contempt.
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,you righteous ones;shout for joy,all you upright in heart.
Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous ones;praise from the upright is beautiful.
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,and His ears are open to their cry for help.
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,and delivers them from all their troubles.
Many adversities come to the one who is righteous,but the Lord delivers him from them all.
Evil brings death to the wicked,and those who hate the righteous will be punished.
The wicked person schemes against the righteousand gnashes his teeth at him.
The little that the righteous man has is betterthan the abundance of many wicked people.
For the arms of the wicked will be broken,but the Lord supports the righteous.
The wicked man borrows and does not repay,but the righteous one is gracious and giving.
I have been young and now I am old,yet I have not seen the righteous abandonedor his children begging for bread.
The righteous will inherit the landand dwell in it permanently.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom;his tongue speaks what is just.
The wicked one lies in wait for the righteousand seeks to kill him;
The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord,their refuge in a time of distress.
Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices,whole burnt offerings;then bulls will be offered on Your altar.
The righteous will look on with aweand will ridicule him:
Cast your burden on the Lord,and He will sustain you;He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
The righteous one will rejoicewhen he sees the retribution;he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
Then people will say,“Yes, there is a reward for the righteous!There is a God who judges on earth!”
The righteous one rejoices in the Lordand takes refuge in Him;all those who are upright in heartwill offer praise.
But the righteous are glad;they rejoice before God and celebrate with joy.
Let them be erased from the book of lifeand not be recorded with the righteous.
May the righteous flourish in his daysand prosperity abounduntil the moon is no more.
“I will cut off all the horns of the wicked,but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”
The righteous thrive like a palm treeand grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon.
for justice will again be righteous,and all the upright in heart will follow it.
They band together against the life of the righteousand condemn the innocent to death.
Light dawns for the righteous,gladness for the upright in heart.
Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous ones,and praise His holy name.
Light shines in the darkness for the upright.He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
He will never be shaken.The righteous man will be remembered forever.
The Lord is gracious and righteous;our God is compassionate.
There are shouts of joy and victoryin the tents of the righteous:“The Lord’s right hand performs valiantly!
I will praise You with a sincere heartwhen I learn Your righteous judgments.
I rise at midnight to thank Youfor Your righteous judgments.
I have solemnly swornto keep Your righteous judgments.
My eyes grow weary looking for Your salvationand for Your righteous promise.
צ TsadeYou are righteous, Lord,and Your judgments are just.
The decrees You issue are righteousand altogether trustworthy.
Your decrees are righteous forever.Give me understanding, and I will live.
The entirety of Your word is truth,and all Your righteous judgments endure forever.
I praise You seven times a dayfor Your righteous judgments.
My tongue sings about Your promise,for all Your commands are righteous.
The scepter of the wicked will not remainover the land allotted to the righteous,so that the righteous will not apply their hands to injustice.
The Lord is righteous;He has cut the ropes of the wicked.
Surely the righteous will praise Your name;the upright will live in Your presence.
Let the righteous one strike me—it is an act of faithful love;let him rebuke me—it is oil for my head;let me not refuse it.Even now my prayer is againstthe evil acts of the wicked.
Free me from prisonso that I can praise Your name.The righteous will gather around mebecause You deal generously with me.
