This word is used in Scripture occasionally in the Elizabethan and primary sense of 'well-being' (e.g. 1Sa 2:32; Es 10:3 etc.), but generally in the more usual sense of affluent possessions (e.g. Ge 34:29; De 8:17-18; Ac 19:25 etc.).
1. Palestine is described in De 8:7-8 as rich not only in cereal but also in mineral wealth; but this may be a description more poetic than literal. It is, however, frequently spoken of as 'flowing with milk and honey' (Ex 3:8, etc. etc.)

Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.
They captured their wives and all their little ones. They took all the wealth that was in their houses.
I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians. I will bring my people out of Egypt into a country where there is good land, rich with milk and honey. I will give them the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.

When you succeed do not brag: 'I am rich. I earned it all myself.' Remember that Jehovah your God gives you the strength to make a living. That is how he keeps the promise he made to your fathers.
You will see the enemy in my house even though God does good for Israel. There will not be an old man in your house forever.
There was a man in Maon whose business was in Carmel. He was a very rich man. He had three thousand sheep and one thousand goats. He sheared his sheep in Carmel.

How horrible it will be for those who get up early in the morning to look for a drink and who sit up late at night until they are drunk from wine.

All those who believed stayed together. They held all things in common. They sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all men, as every man had need.

While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your power? Why did you conceive this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.
They gathered together along with similar related workmen, and said: Sirs, You know we receive a good income from this business.
Bodily exercise is profitable for a little. However, godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of the life that is to come.
Those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts. These draw men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some by longing for it have been led away from the faith. They have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Command those who are rich in this present system not to be high-minded (arrogant), not to have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. They should do good works and be rich in good works, that they are ready to distribute, willing to communicate. read more. They store up for them a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life that is life indeed.
My brothers, keep the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. Do not favor one person over the other. A man wearing a gold ring and fine clothes and a poor man in shabby clothes comes into your synagogue. read more. You pay special attention to the one wearing the fine clothes, and say: Sit here in a good place. Then you say to the poor man: Stand there, or Sit under my footstool. Do not make distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts. Listen, my dearly beloved brothers! Did God choose poor people in the world to be rich in faith and to receive the kingdom he promised to those who love him? You have dishonored the poor man. Do the rich oppress you, and personally drag you into court? Do they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called? When you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture: You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well.
Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. read more. Your gold and your silver are rusted. Their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You stored up your treasure in the last days. Behold, the wages of the laborers who harvested your fields, which are held back by you, cry out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of Jehovah of Hosts. You lived in luxury on the earth, and take your pleasure; you nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.
You say, I am rich and have become wealthy and have need of nothing." You do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
