Adonijah and all the invited guests who were with him
“Unfortunately not,” Jonathan answered him. “Our lord King David has made Solomon king.
And with Solomon, the king has sent Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have had him ride on the king’s mule.
Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon.

“You know the kingship was mine,”
So now I have just one request of you; don’t turn me down.”
She said to him, “Go on.”
He replied, “Please speak to King Solomon since he won’t turn you down. Let him give me Abishag the Shunammite
So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him about Adonijah. The king stood up to greet her, bowed to her, sat down on his throne, and had a throne placed for the king’s mother.
King Solomon answered his mother, “Why are you requesting Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Since he is my elder brother,
It was reported to King Solomon: “Joab has fled to the Lord’s tabernacle and is now beside the altar.” Then Solomon sent

So God said to him, “Because you have requested this and did not ask for long life
Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.
During the night this woman’s son died because she lay on him.
She got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while your servant was asleep. She laid him at her breast, and she put her dead son in my arms.
When I got up in the morning to nurse my son, I discovered he was dead. That morning, when I looked closely at him I realized that he was not the son I gave birth to.”
The woman whose son was alive spoke to the king because she felt great compassion
But the other one said, “He will not be mine or yours. Cut him in two!”
The king responded, “Give the living baby to the first woman, and don’t kill him. She is his mother.”
All Israel heard about the judgment the king had given, and they stood in awe of the king because they saw that God’s wisdom
“You know my father David was not able to build a temple for the name of Yahweh his God. This was because of the warfare all around him until the Lord put his enemies under his feet.
The Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him.
At that time Solomon assembled the elders
King Solomon and the entire congregation of Israel, who had gathered around him and were with him in front of the ark, were sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered, because there were so many.

You spoke directly to him
and You fulfilled Your promise by Your power

Then Rehoboam
They summoned him, and Jeroboam and the whole assembly of Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam:
But he rejected the advice of the elders who had advised him
Then the young men who had grown up with him told him, “This is what you should say to these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you, make it lighter on us!’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s loins!
Then the king answered the people harshly. He rejected the advice the elders had given him
When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people answered him:
We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse.
Israel, return to your tents;
David, now look after your own house!
So Israel went to their tents,
Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram,
When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come back,
When the king heard the word that the man of God had cried out against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar and said, “Arrest him!” But the hand he stretched out against him withered, and he could not pull it back to himself.
Then the king responded to the man of God, “Plead for the favor of the Lord your God and pray for me
Now a certain old prophet was living in Bethel.

He said to him, “I am also a prophet
and the man of God went back with him, ate bread in his house, and drank water.
While they were sitting at the table, the word of the Lord came to the prophet who had brought him back,
When he left,
When the prophet who had brought him back from his way heard about it, he said, “He is the man of God who disobeyed the command of the Lord. The Lord has given him to the lion, and it has mauled and killed him, according to the word of the Lord that He spoke to him.”
So the prophet lifted the corpse of the man of God and laid it on the donkey and brought it back. The old prophet came into the city to mourn and bury him.
Then he laid the corpse in his own grave,
After he had buried him, he said to his sons, “When I die, you must bury me in the grave where the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones,
Take with you 10 loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey,
All Israel will mourn for him and bury him. He alone out of Jeroboam’s house will be put in the family tomb, because out of the house of Jeroboam the Lord God of Israel found something good only in him.
He was buried, and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the Lord He had spoken through His servant Ahijah the prophet.
Judah did what was evil in the Lord’s eyes.
Abijam walked in all the sins his father before him had committed,
But because of David, the Lord his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem to raise up his son after him and to establish Jerusalem.
For David did what was right in the Lord’s eyes, and he did not turn aside from anything He had commanded him all the days of his life,

But Elijah said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him from her arms, brought him up to the upper room
Then he stretched himself out over the boy three times.
So the Lord listened to Elijah’s voice, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived.
Then Elijah took the boy, brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother.
