When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
sir, replied the woman, give me this water, that I may never be adry, nor come hither to draw more.
And many more believed because of his own word;
and said to the woman -- 'No more because of thy speaking do we believe; for we ourselves have heard and known that this is truly the Saviour of the world -- the Christ.'
So He came once more to Cana in Galilee, where He had made the water into wine. Now there was a certain officer of the King's court whose son was ill at Capernaum.
Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him everything that He Himself does; and He will show Him [even] greater deeds [i.e., more extensive in scope] than these [i.e., than merely healing a crippled man], so that you people will be amazed.
So they picked them up and filled twelve baskets with the pieces that were left from the five barley loaves, which were more than the eaters wanted.
Jesus replied to them,
I am the living bread which has come from heaven: if any man takes this bread for food he will have life for ever: and more than this, the bread which I will give is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world.
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
We have believed and confidently trusted, and [even more] we have come to know [by personal observation and experience] that You are the Holy One of God [the Christ, the Son of the living God].”
And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said,
Are you greater [i.e., more important] than our forefather Abraham and the prophets, who [all] died? Who do you think you are?"
So the Pharisees put more questions to him about how his eyes had been made open. And he said to them, He put earth on my eyes, and I had a wash and am able to see.
So they asked the blind man once more, "What have you to say about him, for opening your eyes?" The man replied, "I say he is a prophet."
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
What my Father has given me is more precious than all besides; and no one is able to wrest anything from my Father's hand.
If I am doing it, even though you do not believe me, believe what that work shows; so that you may understand, and understand more and more clearly, that the Father is in union with me, and I with the Father."
This made them once more try to arrest Him, but He withdrew out of their power.
So when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.
You do not realize that it is more to your advantage to have one man die for the people than for the whole nation to perish."
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
