[Immediately] their eyes were opened [i.e., they were given insight] so they could recognize Him. And [just then] He disappeared from their view [Note: The Greek says, "became invisible," suggesting that He vanished miraculously].

Just as they were speaking He stood among them [and said to them, "Peace to you!"]

He said, "I [am] 'the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord," ' just as Isaiah the prophet said."

These things happened in Bethany on the east side of the Jordan River where John was immersing people. [Note: This was a different Bethany from the one just outside of Jerusalem].

Jesus said to him, "Do you believe [in me just] because I told you, 'I saw you under that fig tree'? You will see [even] greater things than these [happen]."

And when the headwaiter tasted the water which had turned into wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew) he called the bridegroom,

Now a fountain of Jacob's was there; Jesus therefore, being wearied with the way he had come, sat just as he was at the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.

But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers.

Just then His disciples came, and they were surprised to find Him talking with a woman. However, no one said, “What are You asking about?” or, “Why are You talking to her?”

and they told the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; for [now] we have heard Him for ourselves and know [with confident assurance] that this One is truly the Savior of [all] the world.”

The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I do not have anyone to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but [just] when I am about to enter [it] someone else goes down [into the water] before me."

so that all will give honor (reverence, homage) to the Son just as they give honor to the Father. [In fact] the one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who has sent Him.

for it was just before the passover, which is a feast of the Jews.

Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'

This, is the bread, which, out of heaven, came down: - Not just as your fathers did eat - and died! He that feedeth upon this bread, shall live unto times age-abiding.

And there was much whispering about Him among the crowds. Some were saying, "He is a good man," [but] others said, "No [he is not], he is [just] deceiving the crowd."

The person who speaks on his own authority is [just] trying to gain honor for himself. But the One who tries to gain honor from God, who sent Him, is [committed to] truth, and there is nothing false in His heart.

Jesus answered, "I have done just one deed, and you are all astonished at it.

Just look! He is talking in public, and yet they do not say a word to Him! It cannot be that the authorities have really learned that He is the Christ, can it?

but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. [Note: This was located on a slope just east of Jerusalem].

They said therefore to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.

Other people said, "[Yes], that is him," while [still] others said, "No, [it is not]; he [just] looks like him." The man said, "I am the one, [all right]."

He answered them - I told you just now, and ye did not hear: Why, again, do ye wish to hear? Are, ye also, wishing to become, his disciples?

just because he is a hired man, who has no interest in the sheep.

The disciples said to him, "Rabbi, the Jews were seeking just now to stone you, and are you going there again?"

So, when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went [out to the edge of town. See verse 30] to meet Him, but Mary [just] sat at home [i.e., probably grief-stricken].

And not just [die] for the [Jewish] nation, but also that He would assemble together into one body the children of God who were scattered [throughout the world].

And Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; just as it is written [in Scripture],

I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone [just one grain, never more]. But if it dies, it produces much grain and yields a harvest.

And I know that his commandment is eternal life. So [the things] that I say, just as the Father said to me, thus I say."

Simon Peter told him, "Lord, not just my feet, but my hands and my head as well!"

I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the one who receives and welcomes whomever I send receives Me; and the one who receives Me receives Him who sent Me [in that same way].”

The disciple just leant back on the breast of Jesus and said, "Lord, who is it?"

When, therefore, he had gone out, Jesus saith - Just now, was, the Son of Man, glorified, and, God, was glorified in him;

Children, yet a little [time] I am with you. You will seek me and just as I said to the Jews, "Where I am going you cannot come," now I say also to you.

Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "I am going where you cannot follow me just now, but you will later follow me."

After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also.

But so that the world may know that I love the Father, and just as the Father has commanded me, thus I am doing. Get up, let us go from here!

Remain in Me, and I [will remain] in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself without remaining in the vine, neither can you [bear fruit, producing evidence of your faith] unless you remain in Me.

So some of His disciples said to one another, "What does He mean by telling us, 'In just a little while you will not see me, and yet in just a little while after you will see me again,' and 'Because I am going away to the Father'?"

Jesus knew that they wanted to ask Him a question, and so He said to them, "Are you inquiring of one another about this saying of mine, 'In just a little while you will not see me, and yet in just a little while after you will see me again'?

“O just and righteous Father, although the world has not known You and has never acknowledged You [and the revelation of Your mercy], yet I have always known You; and these [believers] know [without any doubt] that You sent Me;

He said this that the statement He had just made might be fulfilled, "I have not lost one of those whom you have given me."

So they said to one another, "Do not let us tear it. Let us draw lots for it." This happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says, "They shared my garments among them, and drew lots for my clothing." That was just what the soldiers did.

So they received the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen-bandages with the spices, - just as it is, a custom, with the Jews to prepare for burial.

Because of the preparation of the Jews therefore, they laid Jesus there; for the sepulchre was just by.

But Mary stood just outside the tomb, weeping. And as she wept she looked down into the tomb,

Just a week later the disciples were in the room again and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were bolted, Jesus came in and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you!"

Just as dawn was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore. The disciples didn't realize it was Jesus.

up until the day He returned to heaven. [Just before that time] He had given [certain] instructions to His [specially] selected apostles through [the direction of] the Holy Spirit.

For [Jesus had said, Matt. 3:11], "John immersed you [men] in water but [this time] you will be immersed in the Holy Spirit, and [it will happen] in just a few more days."

As he went up, their eyes were fixed on heaven; but just then two men stood beside them dressed in white,
