And instantly knowing in His spirit that they reasoned so within themselves, He said to them, Why do you reason these things in your heart?
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
then he asked them, "Is it right to help or to hurt on the sabbath, to save life or to kill?" They were silent.
And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their heart, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored.
And the Pharisees immediately went out and conferred with the Herodians against Jesus, plotting how they could kill Him. [Note: These Herodians were members of a political party favoring King Herod]
And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
And He told His disciples to have a small boat stand ready for Him because of the many people, so that they would not crowd Him;
And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they that have heard the word,
When they have heard the Word, the anxieties of life and the snares of wealth, and all sorts of other ambitions, come in to choke the Word, so that it proves unfruitful.
Then there were those who were sown on fertile soil. These represent people who heard 'the word,' accepted it and yielded a crop of thirty, sixty and even a hundred times [as much as was planted]."
Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
and all the devils besought him saying, "Send us into the herd of swine, that we may enter into them."
And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
His disciples said to Him, “You see the crowd pressing in around You [from all sides], and You ask, ‘Who touched Me?’”
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
And [when] the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard [him] were amazed, saying, "Where did this man [get] these [things]? And what [is] this wisdom that has been granted to this man, and the miracles such as these performed through his hands?
Is this not the carpenter,
And they went out, preaching the need for a change of heart in men.
And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
So when Jesus landed, He saw a vast multitude; and His heart was moved with pity for them, because they were like sheep which have no shepherd, and He proceeded to teach them many things.
And when he saw them toiling hard in rowing, for the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night he cometh to them, walking upon the lake. And he would have passed by them;
for they all saw Him and were shaken and terrified. But He immediately spoke with them and said,
For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
All these evil things proceed from within [man's heart] and [spiritually] corrupt him."
For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
having heard of him, came and fell at his feet, (The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation) and besought him to cast the devil out of her daughter.
And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
Then again he put his hands on his eyes; and looking hard, he was able to see, and saw all things clearly.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
Jesus looked at the man, and his heart went out to him, and he said: "There is still one thing wanting in you; go and sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall heave wealth in Heaven; then come and follow me."
But the man had a sad look on his face when he heard these words, and went away sorrowful, for he had many possessions.
Jesus looked around and said to His disciples,
And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
"My sons, how hard it is for those who trust in money to enter the kingdom of God. It is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven."
And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
So Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take heart; rise, he is calling you."
And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Their next step was to send to Him some of the Pharisees and of Herod's partisans to entrap Him in conversation.
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
And it will be hard for women who are with child and for her who has a baby at the breast in those days.
And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.
They began to be grieved and deeply distressed and to say to Him one by one, “Surely not I?”
And he took Peter, James, and John along with Him, and He began to feel completely dazed and to realize His anguish of heart,
and He said to them, "My heart is oppressed with anguish to the very point of death: wait here and keep awake."
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
and when he heard it from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.
Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
In order that you may be able to satisfy yourself of the accuracy of the story which you have heard from the lips of others.]
There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
For listen, when I heard your voice greeting me, the baby in my womb "kicked" for joy.
blessed is she that has believed; for what she has heard from the Lord, shall be accomplished."
He hath showed strength with his arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart.
And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

And do not even begin to say to yourselves [as a defense], ‘We have Abraham for our father [and so our heritage assures us of salvation]’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children (descendants) for Abraham [for God can replace the unrepentant, regardless of their heritage, with those who are obedient].
But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,
Added to all this, Herod locked John up in prison.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,
