When she had news of the things which Jesus did, went among the people coming after him, and put her hand on his robe.
And straight away the fountain of her blood was stopped, and she had a feeling in her body that her disease had gone and she was well.
And on his looking round to see her who had done this thing,
The woman, shaking with fear, conscious of what had been done to her, came and, falling on her face before him, gave him a true account of everything.
And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be free from your disease.
So they come to the Warden's house. Here He gazes on a scene of uproar, with people weeping aloud and wailing.
And they were laughing at him. But he, having sent them all out, took the father of the child and her mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was.
And taking her by the hand, he said to her, Talitha cumi, which is, My child, I say to you, Get up.
And straight the maiden arose, and went on her feet. For she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished at it out of measure.
And he gave them special orders that they were not to say anything of this; and he said that some food was to be given to her.
Is not this the woodworker, the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were bitter against him.
For Herod himself had sent [and] arrested John and bound him in prison because of Herodias, the wife of Philip his brother, because he had married her.
But Herodias kept it in her mind against him, and wished to kill him, and could not:
however, a favourable opportunity happen'd for her, upon Herod's making an entertainment the birth-night, for all the great officers of the court, and army, and persons of the first distinction in Galilee.
And when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and did a dance, Herod and those who were at table with him were pleased with her; and the king said to the girl, Make a request for anything and I will give it you.
And he took an oath, saying to her, Whatever is your desire I will give it to you, even half of my kingdom.
And she went out and said to her mother, What is my request to be? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
Immediately she hurried back to the king and made her request: "I want the head of John the Baptist on a platter immediately."
And the king was very sad; but because of his oaths, and those who were with him at table, he would not say 'No' to her.
And came back with the head on a plate, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.
He said to them, "You men, leave here and go to a deserted place and rest for awhile." For there were so many people coming and going [i.e., to listen to preaching, receive healing, etc.], that they had no opportunity even to eat.
send them away that they may go to the farms and villages near here and buy themselves something to eat."
But He answered them, "You [men] give them something to eat." And they replied, "Should we go and buy a supply of bread to give them to eat?" [Note: The amount mentioned here indicates that it was two hundred days of a farm laborer's pay, or about $14,000 in 1994].
And they sat down: here a row, and there a row, by hundreds and by fifties.
But they had no sooner left her than the people, recognizing Jesus,
and ran about that whole country and began to carry here and there on their pallets those who were sick, to
Then He rose and left that place and went into the neighbourhood of Tyre and Sidon. Here He entered a house and wished no one to know it, but He could not escape observation.
For a woman, whose little daughter had a foul spirit in her, heard of him immediately, and came and threw herself at his feet--
Now the woman was a Greek, a Syro-phoenician by birth: and she made a request to him that he would send the evil spirit out of her daughter.
And he said to her, Let the children first have their food: for it is not right to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs.
And he said to her, For this saying go your way; the evil spirit has gone out of your daughter.
And she went away to her house, and saw the child on the bed, and the evil spirit gone out.
Here they brought to Him a deaf man that stammered, on whom they begged Him to lay His hands.
"I have compassion on the crowd, because they have already been here with me three days, and they have nothing to eat.
And his disciples said in answer, How will it be possible to get enough bread for these men here in a waste place?
Then he told them, "I tell all of you with certainty, some people standing here will not experience death until they see the kingdom of God arrive with power."
Here the Pharisees came out, and began to argue with Jesus, asking him for some sign from the heavens, to test him.
And he said to them, Truly I say to you, There are some here who will have no taste of death till they see the kingdom of God come with power.
Here in their presence he was transfigured; and his clothes also became glistering with a radiant whiteness, such as no bleaching on earth could give.
And Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tents; one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
He answered them and said, "O you unbelieving people, how long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me!"
Then Jesus and His disciples came to Capernaum [Note: This city on the northwest shore of Lake Galilee had become sort of a headquarters for Jesus when He was in this region]. When He [and His disciples] entered a house He asked them, "What were you discussing on the way here?"
And they said to him, Moses let us give her a statement in writing, and be free from her.
And he said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.
And if she herself puts away her husband and takes another, she is false to her husband.
who will not receive a hundred times as much here in this world homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields, along with persecution as well as eternal life in the age to come.
So Jesus stopped and said, "Tell him to come here." Then they told the blind man, saying, "Cheer up! Get up! He is calling for you."
and says to them, Go into the village which is over against you, and immediately on entering into it ye will find a colt tied, upon which no child of man has ever sat: loose it and lead it here.
And if anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say 'The Lord has need of it, and will send it here again at once.'"
"But those men--the vine-dressers--said to one another, "'Here is the heir: come, let us kill him, and then the property will one day be ours.'
"Teacher, Moses wrote to us [Deut. 25:5] that if a man's brother dies, leaving his widow behind without having had any children, his brother should marry his widow and father children by her. These children would then be considered his [dead] brother's.
now there were seven brothers: the first married a wife and died, leaving her without any children.
And the second took her, and at his death there were no offspring; and the third the same:
And all the seven had no seed. Last of all the woman herself came to her death.
In the future life, when they come back from the dead, whose wife will she be? for the seven had her for a wife.
for they all married her. Jesus answered them, don't you see you are in a mistake, by being unacquainted with the scriptures, as well as with the power of God?
David here calls him Lord. Then how can he be his son?" Now the mass of the people listened with delight to him.
Because they all put in something out of what they had no need for; but she out of her need put in all she had, even all her living.
And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples said unto him, "Master, see what stones, and what buildings are here?"
And Jesus said to him, Do you see these great buildings? there is not one stone here resting on another which will not be overturned.
And when you hear of wars [going on] and rumors of [other] wars [pending], do not worry, for such things must necessarily happen. But the end has not yet come. [Note: By "end" here Jesus probably alludes to the downfall of Jerusalem in AD 70, with its attending destruction of the Temple buildings].
For nation will rise in arms against nation and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes here and there, there will be famines. This is only the beginning of the sufferings.
And it will be hard for women who are with child and for her who has a baby at the breast in those days.
And then if any man says to you, See, here is Christ; or, See, there; have no faith in it:
But in those days, after that time of trouble, the sun will be made dark and the moon will not give her light,
Now, from the fig-tree, learn ye, the parable: - When, already, her young branch, becometh tender, and, the leaves, are sprouting, ye observe that, near, is, the summer:
We might have got more than three hundred pence for it, and given the money to the poor. And they said things against her among themselves.
But Jesus said, Let her be; why are you troubling her? she has done a kind act to me.
What was in her power she hath done; she has seized the opportunity to anoint my body beforehand for burial.
And truly I say to you, Wherever the good news goes out through all the earth, what this woman has done will be talked of in memory of her.
While they were reclining at the table, Jesus said,
And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he said to his disciples, Be seated here while I say a prayer.
And he said to them, My soul is very sad, even to death: be here a little time, and keep watch.
Then he came for the third time and said to them, "Still asleep? still resting? No more of that! The hour has come, here is the Son of man betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Get up, let us be going. Look! here comes my betrayer!"
And a certain young man [Note: Some think this is a reference to Mark himself], who had a linen outer garment thrown over his scantily clad body, was following Jesus until they [i.e., the soldiers and officers] took hold of him. [Note: The wording here does not indicate total nakedness, but rather the wearing of underclothing only]
Here they offered Him wine mixed with myrrh; but He refused it.
And he said to them, Do not be troubled: you are looking for Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been put to death on the cross; he has come back from the dead; he is not here: see, the place where they put him!

And Zacharias said to the agent, How will I know this? For I am aged, and my wife is advanced in her days.
And in her sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,
to a maiden betrothed to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. Her name was Mary.
And the angel came in to her and said, Peace be with you, to whom special grace has been given; the Lord is with you.
But she, seeing the angel, was troubled at his word, and reasoned in her mind what this salutation might be.
And the angel said to her, Have no fear, Mary, for you have God's approval.
And the angel in answer said to her, The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will come to rest on you, and so that which will come to birth will be named holy, Son of God.
Even now Elisabeth, who is of your family, is to be a mother, though she is old: and this is the sixth month with her who was without children.
So Mary said, "Behold, the Lord's female slave! May it happen to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.
Soon after this Mary set out, and made her way quickly into the hill-country, to a town in Judah;
And went into the house of Zacharias and took Elisabeth in her arms.
And when the voice of Mary came to the ears of Elisabeth, the baby made a sudden move inside her; then Elisabeth was full of the Holy Spirit,
and lifted up her voice with loud exclamation, and said - Blessed, art thou among women, and, blessed, is the fruit of thy womb;
Happy will she be who had faith that the things which the Lord has said to her will be done.
for He has smiled upon His slave in her lowly station, for from this day all ages will count me happy!
And Mary was with her for about three months and then went back to her house.
