Then Jesus said in answer, Are there not twelve hours in the day? A man may go about in the day without falling, because he sees the light of this world.
But if a man goes about in the night, he may have a fall because the light is not in him.
Jesus, however, was speaking about his death, but they thought He was speaking about natural sleep.
now Bethany being distant from Jerusalem but about fifteen furlongs,
Many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother.
& 31] Now as Bethany is not far from Jerusalem, only about two miles away,
"Father, I thank thee that thou hast listened to me. And I knew that thou art ever listening to me, but for the sake of the crowd who are standing about, I said it, in order that they may believe that thou hast sent me."
and he that was dead came forth, his body wrapt in a winding sheet: and his face bound about with a napkin. loose him, said Jesus, and let him go.
So it came about that many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary and saw what Jesus did, came to believe in him,
The chief priests and Pharisees therefore called the sanhedrim together, and said, What are we about? for this man is doing many miracles.
but one of them named Caiaphas, being the high priest at that time, said to them, ye don't know what you are about.
"You know nothing about it. You do not realize that it is to your interest that one man should die for the people, instead of the whole nation being destroyed."
This, however, from himself, he spake not, but, being, High-priest, for that year, he prophesied, that Jesus was about to die for the nation;
So Jesus no longer went about publicly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near to the waste land, to a town named Ephraim, where he was for some time with the disciples.
So they were looking for Jesus as they stood in the temple [area], and saying among themselves, “What do you think? Will He not come to the feast at all?”
Then Mary took about a pint of expensive, aromatic perfume; [it was] genuine nard [Note: This was a sweet-smelling herb] and poured [some of] it on Jesus' feet and wiped them with her hair. The [whole] house was filled with the fragrant scent of the perfume.
Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot
He didn’t say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief.
His disciples did not understand these things at first. However, when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about Him
Now the people who were with him when his voice came to Lazarus in the place of the dead, and gave him life again, had been talking about it.
But the crowd that went out to meet Jesus [i.e., as He entered Jerusalem] did so because they had heard about Him performing this [miraculous] sign [i.e., of raising Lazarus].
He said this to signify what kind of death He was about to die.
Jesus said to them, "Only a little while longer you will have the light. Keep on living by it while you have the light, so that darkness may not overtake you, for whoever walks about in the dark does not know where he is going.
Isaiah said these things because
Jesus, who knew that the Father had given Him complete authority, [also] knew that He had come from God and was [about] to return to God.
rose from supper, laid aside his garment, and took a towel to wrap about him.
Then he poured water into the basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, wiping them with the towel that was about his waist.
Jesus answered him, you don't at present comprehend what I am about: but hereafter you shall.
For he knew who was about to betray him; for this reason he said, Ye are not all clean.
And when He had washed their feet, and taken his clothes about Him, He sat down again, and said to them, Do ye know the intent of what I have been doing to you?
From this time forward, I give you knowledge of things before they come about, so that when they come about you may have belief that I am he.
The disciples started looking at one another—uncertain which one He was speaking about.
Simon Peter motioned to him to find out who it was He was talking about.
And after Judas took the piece of bread, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "What you are about to do, do quickly."
Judas, not the Iscariot, saith unto him - Lord! what hath happened, that, unto us, thou art about to manifest thyself, and, not unto the world?
You did not take me for yourselves, but I took you for myself; and I gave you the work of going about and producing fruit which will be for ever; so that whatever request you make to the Father in my name he may give it to you.
This comes about so that the writing in their law may be made true, Their hate for me was without cause.
And you will give testimony about me [also], because you men have been with me from the beginning [of my ministry]."
But I have said these [things] to you so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you about them.
However, when the Holy Spirit of truth comes, He will lead you [apostles] into all the truth. For He will not speak on His own authority, but will speak [only] what He hears [from the Father]. And He will tell you about the things that are to come.
They said, “What is this He is saying,
now Jesus perceiving that they had a mind to ask him, said to them, are you sollicitous about what I said, "within a little while ye shall not see me: but within a little while ye shall see me again?"
Truly, truly, I tell you, you will cry and mourn [i.e., over my suffering and death], but the world will be glad [about it]. You will be sad, but your sadness will turn to joy [i.e., when learning of my resurrection].
When a woman is about to give birth she has sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she has given birth to the child, the pain is put out of her mind by the joy that a man has come into the world.
And in that day ye shall not question me about any thing. Verily, verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.
In that day ye will ask in my name, and I do not say to you, that I will pray the Father about you,
I pray about them. I do not pray about the world, but about whom thou have given me, because they are for thee.
And I pray not about these only, but also about those who believe in me through their word,
(Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, also knew about the place, because Jesus often gathered there with his disciples.)
Then Jesus, knowing everything that was about to happen to Him,
Because it was cold, the slaves and attendants had made a charcoal fire and were standing about it warming themselves; so Peter too was standing among them warming himself.
In the mean time, the high priest having question'd Jesus about his disciples, and his doctrine.
Why are you questioning me? put questions to my hearers about what I have said to them: they have knowledge of what I said.
that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled which he said, signifying by what death he was about to die.
Jesus answered him, 'From thyself dost thou say this? or did others say it to thee about me?'
So, Pilate said to Him, "Are you a king, then?" Jesus answered, "You are [correct in] calling me a 'king.' This was the [very] purpose for which I was born and came into the world, that I should testify about the truth. Every person who wants [to know and obey] the truth listens to me."
"Truth!" said Pilate, "what is truth!" With these words he went outside to the Jews again and told them, "I cannot find anything wrong about him.
and the soldiers having made a crown of thorns, they put it on his head, and threw a purple robe about him.
and threw a purple robe about Him, and said, "Hail king of the Jews," and struck Him with their hands.
Again Pilate went out and said to them, "Look, I am bringing him out to you. Understand, I cannot find anything wrong about him."
Now when the high priests and their attendants saw him, they yelled, "Crucify him, crucify him!" Pilate said, "Take him and crucify him yourselves! I find nothing wrong about him."
It was the preparation day for the Passover, and it was about six in the morning.
There stood a vessel full of vinegar by. And they filled a sponge with vinegar, and wound it about with hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
And the person who saw this happen is giving a true testimony about it. He knows it is true [and is giving it] so that you will believe [it, also].
These things came about so that the Writings might be true, No bone of his body will be broken.
Nicodemus
Then they took the body of Jesus, folding linen about it with the spices, as is the way of the Jews when they put the dead to rest.
Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin that was about his head,
as for the napkin that had been put about his head, it was not in the same place as the linen clothes, but lay folded up by it self.
having thus said, she turned about, and saw Jesus standing, but knew not that it was Jesus.
Jesus said to her, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not ascended to the Father yet [Note: Apparently Jesus was discouraging Mary from embracing Him in worship as was done in Matt. 28:9, and thereby causing a delay of when the rest of the disciples would learn of His resurrection], but go to my brothers and tell them [I said] 'I am [about] to ascend to my Father and to your Father, and to my God and your God.'"
After these things Jesus let himself be seen again by the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and it came about in this way.
That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his coat about him (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea.
But since they were not far from land (about 100 yards
Verily, verily I say unto thee, When thou wast younger, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst about where thou wouldest: but when thou art old, thou shalt stretch out thine hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee where thou wouldest not.
And Peter having turned about doth see the disciple whom Jesus was loving following, (who also reclined in the supper on his breast, and said, 'Sir, who is he who is delivering thee up?')
When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord—what about him?”
So this saying went about among the brothers that this disciple would not undergo death: Jesus, however, did not say that he would not undergo death, but, If it is my desire for him to be here till I come back, what is that to you?
This is the disciple who is testifying about these [things], and who has written down these [things]. And we know that his testimony is true.
I wrote the first narrative, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach
After He had suffered, He also presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during 40 days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
And [while he] was with [them], he commanded them, "Do not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for what was promised by the Father, which you heard about from me.
They therefore, having come together, asked him, saying, Lord, art thou at this time about to restore the kingdom to Israel?
Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the place called "Mount of Olives," which was about three-fourths of a mile from Jerusalem.

“Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David spoke in advance about Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.
"For it was written [about Judas] in the book of Psalms [69:25]: 'Let the place where he lives become deserted, with no one living there' and [Psa. 109:8] 'Let someone else fill his ministry.'
"So one of the men who has been associated with us all the time that the Lord Jesus moved about among us,
When this was noised about, the multitude came together and were astonished, because that every man heard them speak his own tongue.
Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya about Cyrene, foreigners from Rome, Jews, and proselytes,
Cretans and Arabians. How can it be that we hear [these apostles] speaking about the mighty accomplishments of God in the language of our national origin?
