When the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people of John, "What went ye out for to see into the wilderness? Went ye to see a reed shaken with the wind?
But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously appareled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.
But what went ye forth to see? A prophet? Yea I say to you, and more than a prophet.
And the Lord said, "Whereunto shall I liken the men of this generation: and what thing are they like?
When the Pharisee which bade him to his house, saw that, he spake within himself, saying, "If this man were a prophet, he would surely have known who and what manner woman this is which toucheth him, for she is a sinner."
And his disciples asked him, saying, "What manner similitude is this?"
And he said unto them, "Where is your faith?" They feared and wondered, saying one to another, "What fellow is this? For he commandeth both the winds and water, and they obey him!"
When he saw Jesus, he cried, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, "What have I to do with thee Jesus the son of the God most highest? I beseech thee torment me not."
And Jesus asked him, saying, "What is thy name?" And he said, "Legion," because many devils were entered into him.
When the herdsmen saw what had chanced, they fled, and told it in the city and in the villages.
And they came out to see what was done. And came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus clothed, and in his right mind, and they were afraid.
They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devil, was healed.
"Go home again into thine own house, and show what great things God hath done to thee." And he went his way, and preached throughout all the city what great things Jesus had done unto him.
When the woman saw that she was not hid from him, she came trembling, and fell at his feet, and told him before all the people, for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
And the father and the mother of her were astonished. But he warned them that they should tell no man, what was done.
And the apostles returned, and told him what great things they had done. And he took them and went aside into a solitary place, nigh to a city called Bethsaida.
For what shall it advantage a man, to win the whole world, if he lose himself: or run in damage of himself?
And it chanced, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, "Master, it is good being here for us. Let us make three tabernacles: one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah." And wist not what he said.
But they wist not what that word meant, and it was hid from them that they understood it not. And they feared to ask him of that saying.
Jesus turned about, and rebuked them saying, "Ye know not what manner spirit ye are of.
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, "Master what shall I do, to inherit eternal life?"
He said unto him, "What is written in the law? How readest thou?"
When they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto the rulers, and officers, take no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall speak.
For the holy ghost shall teach you in the same hour, what ye ought to say."
and he thought in himself saying, 'What shall I do? Because I have no room where to bestow my fruits.'
And he spake unto his disciples, "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat: Neither for your body, what ye shall put on.
And ask not what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither climb ye up on high:
This shall ye understand, that if the good man of the house knew what hour the thief would have come, he would surely have watched: and not suffer his house to be broken up.
I am come to send fire on earth: and what is my desire but that it were already kindled?
Hypocrites, ye can skill of the fashion of the earth, and of the sky: but what is the cause, that ye cannot skill of this time?
Yea, and why judge ye not of yourselves, what is right?
Then said he, "What is the kingdom of God like? Or whereto shall I compare it?
Or what king goeth to make battle against another king, and sitteth not down first, and casteth in his mind, whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand,
Salt is good, but if salt have lost her saltiness, what shall be seasoned therewith?
"What man of you having a hundred sheep, if he lose one of them doth not leave ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find him?
Either, what woman having ten groats, if she lose one, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently, till she find it?
and called one of his servants, and asked what those things meant.
The steward said within himself, 'What shall I do? For my master will take away from me the stewardship. I cannot dig, and to beg, I am ashamed.
I know what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.'
Then said he to another, 'What owest thou?' And he said, 'An hundred quarters of wheat.' He said to him, 'Take thy bill, and write fourscore.'
And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge sayeth.
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, "Good Master: what ought I to do, to obtain eternal life?"
When Jesus saw him mourn, he said, "With what difficulty shall they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God:
And when he heard the people pass by, he asked what it meant.
saying, "What wilt thou, that I do unto thee?" And he said, "Lord, that I may receive my sight."
And he made means to see Jesus, what he should be: and he could not for the press, because he was of a low stature.
And it came to pass, when he was come again and had received his kingdom, he commanded these servants, to be called to him, to whom he gave his money, to know what every man had done.
but could not find what to do. For all the people stuck by him. And gave him audience.
And spake unto him, saying, "Tell us by what authority thou doest these things? Either, who is he that gave thee this authority?"
And Jesus said unto them, "Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things."
Then said the Lord of the vineyard, 'What shall I do? I will send my dear son, him peradventure they will reverence, when they see him.'
And they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. Now what shall the Lord of the vineyard do unto them?
And he beheld them and said, "What meaneth this then that is written, 'The stone that the builders refused, the same is made the head cornerstone?'
And they asked him, saying, "Master, when shall these things be? And what signs will there be, when such things shall come to pass?"
Let it stick therefore fast in your hearts, not once to study before, what ye shall answer for yourselves:
When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, "Lord, shall we smite with a sword?"
And Peter said, "Man, I know not what thou sayest." And immediately while he yet spake, the cock crew.
Then said they, "What need we any further witness? We ourselves have heard of his own mouth."
He said unto them the third time, "What evil hath he done? I find no cause of death in him. I will therefore chasten him, and let him go loose."
and let loose unto them, him that for insurrection, and murder, was cast into prison, whom they desired: and delivered Jesus to do with him what they would.
For if they do this to a green tree: what shall be done to the dry?"
Then said Jesus, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
When the Centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God saying, "Of a surety this man was perfect."
And he said unto them, "What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another as ye walk, and are sad?"
To whom he said, "What things?" And they said unto him, "Of Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet, mighty in deed and word, before God and all the people.
And they told what things was done in the way, and how they knew him in breaking of bread.
And this is the record of John: When the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, "What art thou?"
And they asked him, "What then? Art thou Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." Art thou that prophet? And he answered, "No."
Then said they unto him, "What art thou, that we may give an answer to them that sent us? What sayest thou of thy self?"
And Jesus turned about, and saw them follow, and said unto them, "What seek ye?" They said unto him, "Rabbi," which is to say, by interpretation, "Master: where dwellest thou?"
Jesus said unto her, "Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come."
Then answered the Jews and said unto him, "What token showest thou unto us, seeing that thou dost these things?"
and needed not that any man should testify of him. For he knew what was in man.
And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth: but no man receiveth his testimony.
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship. For salvation cometh of the Jews.
And even at that point, came his disciples, and marveled that he talked with the woman. Yet no man said unto him, "What meanest thou," or "Why talkest thou with her?"
Then asked they him, "What man is that which said unto thee, 'Take up thy bed and walk?'"
This he said to prove him. For he himself knew what he would do.
"There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two fishes: but what is that among so many?"
Then said they unto him, "What shall we do that we might work the works of God?"
They said unto him, "What sign showest thou, then, that we may see and believe thee? What dost thou work?
What and if ye shall see the son of man ascend up where he was before?
What manner of saying is this that he said, 'Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: And where I am, thither can ye not come?'"
"Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him and know what he hath done?"
Moses in the law commanded us that such should be stoned: What sayest thou therefore?"
Then spake they unto the blind again, "What sayest thou of him, because he hath opened thine eyes?" And he said, "He is a prophet."
But by what means he now seeth, that can we not tell: or who hath opened his eyes, can we not tell. He is old enough, ask him, let him answer for himself, of things that pertain to himself."
Then said they to him again, "What did he to thee? How opened he thine eyes?"
For we be sure that God heareth not sinners: But if any man be a worshipper of God, and do what his will is, him heareth he.
This similitude spake Jesus unto them. But they understood not, what things they were, which he spake unto them.
But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what Jesus had done.
Then gathered the high priests and the Pharisees a council and said, "What do we? This man doeth many miracles.
Then sought they for Jesus, and spake between themselves, as they stood in the temple, "What think ye, seeing he cometh not to the feast?"
"Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say, 'Father deliver me from this hour?' But therefore came I unto this hour.
This said Jesus signifying what death he should die.
For I have not spoken of myself: but the father which sent me, he gave me a commandment what I should say, and what I should speak.
Jesus answered and said unto him, "What I do, thou knowest not now, but thou shalt know hereafter."
After he had washed their feet, and received his clothes, and was set down again, he said unto them, "Know ye what I have done to you?
That wist no man at the table, for what intent he spake unto him.
