Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD has comforted his people and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

The prince of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.

Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes and came into the house of the LORD and worshipped. Then he came to his own house; and when he asked, they set bread before him, and he ate. Then his slaves said unto him, What is this that thou hast done? Thou didst fast and weep for the child while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. And he replied, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will have mercy on me, that the child may live? But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the entire world, to try those that dwell upon the earth.

I will go into thy house with burnt offerings; I will pay thee my vows, which my lips have uttered and my mouth has spoken when I was in trouble. I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.

choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season,

And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept and mourned certain days and fasted and prayed before the God of the heavens

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle; in the secret of his tent shall he hide me; he shall set me high upon a rock. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Those that sow with tears shall reap with joy. He that goes forth and weeps, bearing the precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

And know in thine heart, that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD thy God chastens thee.

I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

For the LORD chastens whom he loves and delights in, even as a father to his son.

But being judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

for whom the Lord loves, he chastens and scourges everyone whom he receives as a son. If ye endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father does not chasten?

For his anger endures but a moment; in his will is life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

He will not always chide, neither will he keep his anger for ever.

For a small moment I have forsaken thee; but with great mercies I will gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with eternal mercy I will have compassion on thee, said the LORD thy Redeemer.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, and the world shall rejoice; but even though ye shall be sorrowful, your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

In which ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are afflicted in diverse temptations,

For our tribulation, which is momentary and light, prepares an exceeding and eternal weight of glory unto us;

For I know with certainty that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory which shall be manifested in us.
