'Law' in the Bible

Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the sanctity of the Sabbath and are guiltless?

"Teacher, which commandment [is] greatest in the law?"

And when the days of their purification were completed according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present [him] to the Lord

and to offer a sacrifice according to what was stated in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."

Has not Moses given you the law, and none of you carries out the law? Why do you seek to kill me?"

If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses would not be broken, are you angry with me because I made a whole man well on the Sabbath?

But this crowd who does not know the law is accursed!"

"Our law does not condemn a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, [does it]?"

But a certain man stood up in the Sanhedrin, a Pharisee {named} Gamaliel, a teacher of the law respected by all the people, [and] gave orders to put the men outside for a short time.

And they put forward false witnesses who said, "This man does not stop speaking words against the holy place and the law!

So after the reading from the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent [word] to them, saying, "Men [and] brothers, if there is any message of exhortation by you for the people, say [it]."

"Therefore let it be known to you, men [and] brothers, that through this one forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and from all [the things] from which you were not able to be justified by the law of Moses,

But some of those who had believed from the party of the Pharisees stood up, saying, "It is necessary to circumcise them and to command [them] to observe the law of Moses!"

saying, "This man is persuading people to worship God contrary to the law!"

But if it is questions concerning a word and names and {your own law}, see to [it] yourselves! I do not wish to be a judge of these [things]."

And [when] they heard [this], they began to glorify God. And they said to him, "You see, brother, how many ten thousands there are among the Jews who have believed, and they are all zealous adherents of the law.

Take these [men] [and] purify yourself along with them and {pay their expenses} so that they can shave [their] heads, and everyone will know that [the things] which they had been informed about you are nothing, but you yourself also agree with observing the law.

shouting, "Israelite men, help! This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against the people and the law and this place! And furthermore he also brought Greeks into the temple, and has defiled this holy place!"

"I am a Jewish man born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, educated according to the exactness of the law received from our fathers, being zealous for God, just as all [of] you are today.

And a certain Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who live [there],

And [when they] had set a day with him, many more came to him at his lodging place, to whom he was explaining from early in the morning until evening, testifying about the kingdom of God and attempting to convince them about Jesus from both the law of Moses and the prophets.

For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

For it is not the hearers of the law [who are] righteous in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be declared righteous.

For whenever the Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature the things of the law, these, [although they] do not have the law, are a law to themselves,

who show the work of the law written on their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts [one] after another accusing or even defending them

and know his will and approve the things that are superior, [because you] are instructed by the law,

For circumcision is of value if you do the law, but if you should be a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

Therefore, if the uncircumcised person follows the requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be credited for circumcision?

And the uncircumcised person by nature who carries out the law will judge you who, [though provided] with {the precise written code} and circumcision [are] a transgressor of the law.

Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those under the law, in order that every mouth may be closed and the whole world may become accountable to God.

Therefore, do we nullify the law through faith? May it never be! But we uphold the law.

For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants, [that] he would be heir of the world, [was] not through the law, but through the righteousness by faith.

For if those of the law [are] heirs, faith is rendered void and the promise is nullified.

For the law produces wrath, but where [there] is no law, neither [is there] transgression.

For until the law, sin was in the world, but sin is not charged to one's account [when there] is no law.

Or do you not know, brothers (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law is master of a person for as long a time [as] he lives?

Therefore as a result, if she belongs to another man [while] her husband is living, she will be called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress [if she] belongs to another man.

But now we have been released from the law, [because we] have died [to that] by which we were bound, so that we may serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter [of the law].

But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all [kinds of] covetousness. For apart from the law, sin [is] dead.

But if what I do not want [to do], this I do, I agree with the law that [it is] good.

Thanks [be] to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself with my mind am enslaved to the law of God, but with my flesh [I am enslaved] to the law of sin.

who are Israelites, [to] whom [belong] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the [temple] service, and the promises,

For Moses writes about the righteousness [that is] from the law: "The person who does [this] will live by it."

I am not saying these [things] according to a human perspective. Or does the law not also say these [things]?
