You said, "It is futile to serve God,' and, "What did we get out of it when we carried out his requirements and went about like mourners in the presence of the LORD of the Heavenly Armies?'
Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other. The LORD listened and took note, and a scroll of remembrance was written in his presence about those who fear the LORD and honor His name.
"They'll be mine," says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, "in the day when I prepare my treasured possession. I'll spare them, just as a man spares his own son who serves him.
"The coming day is certainly going to burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and all who practice evil will be stubble the coming day will set them on fire," says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, "so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.
and trample down the wicked. Indeed, they will become ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I do this," says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies.
"Pay attention! I'm sending Elijah the prophet to you before the great and dreadful Day of the LORD comes,
After he had thought about it, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," he said, "don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
Now all this happened to fulfill what was declared by the Lord through the prophet when he said,
which means, "God with us." When Joseph got up from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary as his wife.
After they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt," he said. "Stay there until I tell you, because Herod intends to search for the child and kill him."
He stayed there until Herod's death in order to fulfill what was declared by the Lord through the prophet when he said, "Out of Egypt I called my Son."
But after Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt.
He was the one the prophet Isaiah was referring to when he said, "He is a voice calling out in the wilderness: "Prepare the way for the Lord! Make his paths straight!'"
Jesus responded to him, "It is also written, "You must not tempt the Lord your God.'"
Then Jesus told him, "Go away, Satan! Because it is written, "You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'"
"Again, you have heard that it was told those who lived long ago, "You must not swear an oath falsely,' but, "You must fulfill your oaths to the Lord.'
"Not everyone who keeps saying to me, "Lord, Lord,' will get into the kingdom from heaven, but only the person who keeps doing the will of my Father in heaven.
Many will say to me on that day, "Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name, drove out demons in your name, and performed many miracles in your name, didn't we?'
Then another of his disciples told him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
They went to him and woke him up. "Lord!" they cried, "Save us! We're going to die!"
When he had gone into the house, the blind men came to him. Jesus asked them, "Do you believe I can do this?" They told him, "Yes, Lord!"
So ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest."
At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from wise and intelligent people and have revealed them to infants.
for the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
Peter answered him, "Lord, if it's you, order me to come to you on the water."
But when he noticed the strong wind, he was frightened. As he began to sink, he shouted, "Lord, save me!"
Suddenly, a Canaanite woman from that territory came near and began to shout, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed!"
Then she came and fell down before him, saying, "Lord, help me!"
She said, "Yes, Lord. But even the puppies eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' tables."
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, "God be merciful to you, Lord! This must never happen to you!"
Then Peter told Jesus, "Lord, it's good that we're here! If you want, I'll set up three shelters one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
Then Peter came up and asked him, "Lord, how many times may my brother sin against me and I have to forgive him? Seven times?"
But Jesus called the disciples and said, "You know that the rulers of the unbelievers lord it over them and their superiors act like tyrants over them.
When two blind men who were sitting by the roadside heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, "Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David!"
When the crowd told them harshly to be silent, they shouted even louder, "Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David!"
They told him, "Lord, we want to be able to see!"
If anyone says anything to you, tell him, "The Lord needs them,' and that person will send them at once."
Both the crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed him kept shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!"
Jesus told him, ""You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
He asked them, "Then how can David by the Spirit call him "Lord' when he says,
"The Lord told my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet."'?
If David calls him "Lord', how can he be his son?"
I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, "How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!'"
"So keep on watching, because you don't know on what day your Lord is coming.
Later, the other bridesmaids arrived and said, "Lord, lord, open up for us!'
"Then the righteous will say to him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you something to eat, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
"Then they will reply, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or as a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and didn't help you?'
Feeling deeply distressed, each one began to ask him, "Surely I am not the one, Lord?"
and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."
Suddenly, there was a powerful earthquake, because an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven, approached the stone, rolled it away, and was sitting on top of it.
He is a voice calling out in the wilderness: "Prepare the way for the Lord! Make his paths straight!'"
Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
But Jesus wouldn't let him. Instead, he told him, "Go home to your family, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been to you."
But she answered him, "Yes, Lord. Yet even the puppies under the table eat some of the children's crumbs."
Jesus called his disciples and told them, "You know that those who are recognized as rulers among the unbelievers lord it over them, and their superiors act like tyrants over them.
If anyone asks you, "Why are you doing this?,' say, "The Lord needs it,' and he will send it back here at once."
Those who went ahead and those who followed him were shouting, "Hosanna! How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Jesus answered, "The most important is, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord,
and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.'
David himself said by the Holy Spirit, "The Lord told my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet."'
David himself calls him "Lord,' so how can he be his son?" And the large crowd kept listening to him with delight.
If the Lord had not shortened those days, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect whom he has chosen, he has shortened those days.
So the Lord Jesus, after talking with his disciples, was taken up to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
Then his disciples went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the signs that accompanied it.
Both of them were righteous before God, having lived blamelessly according to all of the commandments and regulations of the Lord.
he was chosen by lot to go into the sanctuary of the Lord and burn incense, according to the custom of the priests.
An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the incense altar.
He will bring many of Israel's descendants back to the Lord their God.
He is the one who will go before the Lord with the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, and to prepare the people to be ready for the Lord."
"This is what the Lord did for me when he looked favorably on me and took away my public disgrace."
The angel came to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you!"
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David.
Why should this happen to me, to have the mother of my Lord visit me?
How blessed is this woman for believing that what was spoken to her by the Lord would be fulfilled!"
Then Mary said, "My soul praises the greatness of the Lord!
Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her.
Everyone who heard about it kept thinking what had happened and asked, "What will this child become?" because it was obvious that the hand of the Lord was with him.
"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel! He has taken care of his people and has set them free.
And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, because you will go ahead of the Lord to prepare his way
An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
Today your Savior, the Lord Messiah, was born in the City of David.
When the angels had left them and gone back to heaven, the shepherds told one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see what has taken place that the Lord has told us about."
When the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn son is to be designated as holy to the Lord."
They also offered a sacrifice according to what is specified in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."
After doing everything required by the Law of the Lord, Joseph and Mary returned to their hometown of Nazareth in Galilee.
as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah, "He is a voice calling out in the wilderness: "Prepare the way for the Lord! Make his paths straight!
But Jesus answered him, "It is written, "You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'"
Jesus answered him, "It has been said, "You must not tempt the Lord your God.'"
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; he has anointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set oppressed people free,

One day, as Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the Law happened to be sitting nearby. The people had come from every village in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was present to heal them.
Then he told them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
"Why do you keep calling me "Lord, Lord,' but don't do what I tell you?
When the Lord saw her, he felt compassion for her. He told her, "You can stop crying."
and sent them to the Lord to ask, "Are you the Coming One, or should we wait for someone else?"
When his disciples James and John observed this rejection, they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?"
He told another man, "Follow me." But he said, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
Still another man said, "I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to those at home."
