'Peoples' in the Bible
The coastland peoples spread out into their lands. These are Japheth’s sons by their clans, in their nations. Each group had its own language.
I will bless those who bless you,I will curse those who treat you with contempt,and all the peoples on earthwill be blessed through you.
I will bless her; indeed, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she will produce nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”
May peoples serve youand nations bow down to you.Be master over your brothers;may your mother’s sons bow down to you.Those who curse you will be cursed,and those who bless you will be blessed.
May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you so that you become an assembly of peoples.
Your offspring will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out toward the west, the east, the north, and the south. All the peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.
The scepter will not depart from Judahor the staff from between his feetuntil He whose right it is comesand the obedience of the peoples belongs to Him.
When the peoples hear, they will shudder;anguish will seize the inhabitants of Philistia.
Now if you will listen to Me and carefully keep My covenant, you will be My own possession out of all the peoples, although all the earth is Mine,
And I promised you: You will inherit their land, since I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am Yahweh your God who set you apart from the peoples.
Today I will begin to put the fear and dread of you on the peoples everywhere under heaven. They will hear the report about you, tremble, and be in anguish because of you.’
Carefully follow them, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the eyes of the peoples. When they hear about all these statutes, they will say, ‘This great nation is indeed a wise and understanding people.’
The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be reduced to a few survivors among the nations where the Lord your God will drive you.
Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you,
For you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be His own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.
“The Lord was devoted to you and chose you, not because you were more numerous than all peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.
You will be blessed above all peoples; there will be no infertile male or female among you or your livestock.
You must destroy all the peoples the Lord your God is delivering over to you and not look on them with pity. Do not worship their gods, for that will be a snare to you.
the great trials that you saw, the signs and wonders, the strong hand and outstretched arm, by which the Lord your God brought you out. The Lord your God will do the same to all the peoples you fear.
Yet the Lord was devoted to your fathers and loved them. He chose their descendants after them—He chose you out of all the peoples, as it is today.
any of the gods of the peoples around you, near you or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other—
for you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord has chosen you to be His own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.
Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by Yahweh’s name, and they will stand in awe of you.
You will become an object of horror, scorn, and ridicule among all the peoples where the Lord will drive you.
Then the Lord will scatter you among all peoples from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will worship other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.
then He will restore your fortunes, have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.
When the Most High gave the nations their inheritanceand divided the human race,He set the boundaries of the peoplesaccording to the number of the people of Israel.
His firstborn bull has splendor,and horns like those of a wild ox;he gores all the peoples with themto the ends of the earth.Such are the ten thousands of Ephraim,and such are the thousands of Manasseh.
They summon the peoples to a mountain;there they offer acceptable sacrifices.For they draw from the wealth of the seasand the hidden treasures of the sand.
For the Lord our God brought us and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery, and performed these great signs before our eyes. He also protected us all along the way we went and among all the peoples whose lands we traveled through.
The Lord drove out before us all the peoples, including the Amorites who lived in the land. We too will worship the Lord, because He is our God.”
and abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of Egypt. They went after other gods from the surrounding peoples and bowed down to them. They infuriated the Lord,
Whenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites, Amalekites, and the Qedemites came and attacked them.
and so that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahweh is God. There is no other!
I will cut off Israel from the land I gave them, and I will reject the temple I have sanctified for My name. Israel will become an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples.
As for all the peoples who remained of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not Israelites—
Give thanks to Yahweh; call on His name;proclaim His deeds among the peoples.
Declare His glory among the nations,His wonderful works among all peoples.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,but the Lord made the heavens.
Ascribe to the Lord, families of the peoples,ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
may You hear in heaven in Your dwelling place,and do all the foreigner asks You.Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name,to fear You as Your people Israel doand know that this temple I have builtis called by Your name.
then I will uproot Israel from the soil that I gave them, and this temple that I have sanctified for My name I will banish from My presence; I will make it an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples.
As for all the peoples who remained of the Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not from Israel—
Didn’t you banish the priests of Yahweh, the descendants of Aaron and the Levites, and make your own priests like the peoples of other lands do? Whoever comes to ordain himself with a young bull and seven rams may become a priest of what are not gods.
“‘Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Have any of the national gods of the lands been able to deliver their land from my power?
They spoke against the God of Jerusalem like they had spoken against the gods of the peoples of the earth, which were made by human hands.
They set up the altar on its foundation and offered burnt offerings for the morning and evening on it to the Lord even though they feared the surrounding peoples.

Indeed, the Israelite men have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed has become mixed with the surrounding peoples. The leaders and officials have taken the lead in this unfaithfulness!”
You gave through Your servants the prophets, saying: “The land you are entering to possess is an impure land. The surrounding peoples have filled it from end to end with their uncleanness by their impurity and detestable practices.
should we break Your commands again and intermarry with the peoples who commit these detestable practices? Wouldn’t You become so angry with us that You would destroy us, leaving no survivors?
Then Shecaniah son of Jehiel, an Elamite, responded to Ezra: “We have been unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women from the surrounding peoples, but there is still hope for Israel in spite of this.
Therefore, make a confession to Yahweh the God of your fathers and do His will. Separate yourselves from the surrounding peoples and your foreign wives.”
Please remember what You commanded Your servant Moses: “If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples.
You gave them kingdoms and peoplesand assigned them to be a boundary.They took possessionof the land of Sihon king of Heshbonand of the land of Og king of Bashan.
So their descendants went in and possessed the land:You subdued the Canaanites who inhabited the land before themand handed their kings and the surrounding peoples over to them,to do as they pleased with them.
You were patient with them for many years,and Your Spirit warned them through Your prophets,but they would not listen.Therefore, You handed them over to the surrounding peoples.
The rest of the people—the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, and temple servants, along with their wives, sons, and daughters, everyone who is able to understand and who has separated themselves from the surrounding peoples to obey the law of God—
We will not give our daughters in marriage to the surrounding peoples and will not take their daughters as wives for our sons.
When the surrounding peoples bring merchandise or any kind of grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or a holy day. We will also leave the land uncultivated in the seventh year and will cancel every debt.
Half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod or the language of one of the other peoples but could not speak Hebrew.
Memucan said in the presence of the king and his officials, “Queen Vashti has wronged not only the king, but all the officials and the peoples who are in every one of King Ahasuerus’s provinces.
Then Haman informed King Ahasuerus, “There is one ethnic group, scattered throughout the peoples in every province of your kingdom, yet living in isolation. Their laws are different from everyone else’s and they do not obey the king’s laws. It is not in the king’s best interest to tolerate them.
A copy of the text, issued as law throughout every province, was distributed to all the peoples so that they might get ready for that day.
Let the assembly of peoples gather around You;take Your seat on high over it.
The Lord judges the peoples;vindicate me, Lord,according to my righteousness and my integrity.
He judges the world with righteousness;He executes judgment on the nations with fairness.
Sing to the Lord, who dwells in Zion;proclaim His deeds among the nations.
God—He gives me vengeanceand subdues peoples under me.
The Lord frustrates the counsel of the nations;He thwarts the plans of the peoples.
to plant them,You drove out the nations with Your hand;to settle them,You crushed the peoples.
You make us a joke among the nations,a laughingstock among the peoples.
Your arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies;the peoples fall under you.
I will cause your name to be remembered for all generations;therefore the peoples will praise you forever and ever.

The nobles of the peoples have assembledwith the people of the God of Abraham.For the leaders of the earth belong to God;He is greatly exalted.

I will praise You, Lord, among the peoples;I will sing praises to You among the nations.
Praise our God, you peoples;let the sound of His praise be heard.
Let the peoples praise You, God;let all the peoples praise You.
Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy,for You judge the peoples with fairnessand lead the nations on earth.Selah

Rebuke the beast in the reeds,the herd of bulls with the calves of the peoples.Trample underfoot those with bars of silver.Scatter the peoples who take pleasure in war.
You are the God who works wonders;You revealed Your strength among the peoples.
When He registers the peoples,the Lord will record,“This one was born there.”Selah
Remember, Lord, the ridicule against Your servants—in my heart I carry abuse from all the peoples—
Declare His glory among the nations,His wonderful works among all peoples.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,but the Lord made the heavens.
Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples,ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Say among the nations: “The Lord reigns.The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken.He judges the peoples fairly.”
before the Lord, for He is coming—for He is coming to judge the earth.He will judge the world with righteousnessand the peoples with His faithfulness.
The heavens proclaim His righteousness;all the peoples see His glory.
before the Lord,for He is coming to judge the earth.He will judge the world righteouslyand the peoples fairly.
The Lord reigns! Let the peoples tremble.He is enthroned above the cherubim.Let the earth quake.
when peoples and kingdoms are assembledto serve the Lord.
