If we confess our sins, He is to be depended on, since He is just, to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from every wrong.

Dear children, it is [now] the last hour [i.e., the final period of God's dealing with people on earth], and since you have heard that an antichrist [i.e., a person who is against Christ] is coming, even now [you should be aware that] many antichrists have [already] come. This is [one way] we know that this is the last hour.

As to you, the unction you received from him remains ever in you, and you need no teaching from any one. But since his unction teaches you concerning all things and is true, and is no lie, abide continually in him, as it has taught you to do.

since you know that God is the source of virtue, you know that every one who has virtue, derives it from him.

He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth since the beginning. But for this cause appeared the son of God, even to destroy the works of the devil.

since we know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren: he, that loveth not his brother, remaineth in death.

Dear friends, since God loved us thus, we, surely, ought to love one another.

Love is complete with us when we have absolute confidence about the day of judgment, since in this world we are living as He lives.

Fear is a stranger to love; for perfect loves excludes all fear: since pain is the object of fear, he that is affected with fear, cannot be sincere in his love.

let us love him; since he first loved us.

and in this we know that we love the children of God, since we love God and keep his commandments.

And if we know [for a fact, as indeed we do] that He hears and listens to us in whatever we ask, we [also] know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted to us] the requests which we have asked from Him.
