'Disciples' in the Bible
They came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.
Now as they approached Jerusalem, near Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples
He said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard it.
When evening came, Jesus and his disciples went out of the city.
He called his disciples and said to them, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the offering box than all the others.
Now as Jesus was going out of the temple courts, one of his disciples said to him, "Teacher, look at these tremendous stones and buildings!"
Now on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed, Jesus' disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
He sent two of his disciples and told them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him.
Wherever he enters, tell the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"'
So the disciples left, went into the city, and found things just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
Then they went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray."
But go, tell his disciples, even Peter, that he is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you."
But the Pharisees and their experts in the law complained to his disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"
Then they said to him, "John's disciples frequently fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours continue to eat and drink."
Jesus was going through the grain fields on a Sabbath, and his disciples picked some heads of wheat, rubbed them in their hands, and ate them.
When morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:
Then he came down with them and stood on a level place. And a large number of his disciples had gathered along with a vast multitude from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon. They came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases,
Then he looked up at his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God belongs to you.
Soon afterward Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him.
John's disciples informed him about all these things. So John called two of his disciples
One day Jesus got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, "Let's go across to the other side of the lake." So they set out,
(Now about five thousand men were there.) Then he said to his disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each."
Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven he gave thanks and broke them. He gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.
Once when Jesus was praying by himself, and his disciples were nearby, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?"
I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not do so."
ThenBut while the entire crowd was amazed at everything Jesus was doing, he said to his disciples,
Now an argument started among the disciples as to which of them might be the greatest.
Now when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven and consume them?"
Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see!
Now Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he stopped, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."
Meanwhile, when many thousands of the crowd had gathered so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.
Jesus also said to the disciples, "There was a rich man who was informed of accusations that his manager was wasting his assets.
Jesus said to his disciples, "Stumbling blocks are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come!
Then he said to the disciples, "The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
Then the disciples said to him, "Where, Lord?" He replied to them, "Where the dead body is, there the vultures will gather."
Now people were even bringing their babies to him for him to touch. But when the disciples saw it, they began to scold those who brought them.
Now when he approached Bethphage and Bethany, at the place called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of the disciples,
As he approached the road leading down from the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen:
But some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples."
As all the people were listening, Jesus said to his disciples,
and tell the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"'
Then Jesus went out and made his way, as he customarily did, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.
When he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, exhausted from grief.
Again the next day John was standing there with two of his disciples.
When John's two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said and followed Jesus.
and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs, in Cana of Galilee. In this way he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.
His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will devour me."
So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and the saying that Jesus had spoken.
After this, Jesus and his disciples came into Judean territory, and there he spent time with them and was baptizing.
Now a dispute came about between some of John's disciples and a certain Jew concerning ceremonial washing.
Now when Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that he was winning and baptizing more disciples than John
(although Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples were),
(For his disciples had gone off into the town to buy supplies.)
Now at that very moment his disciples came back. They were shocked because he was speaking with a woman. However, no one said, "What do you want?" or "Why are you speaking with her?"
Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, "Rabbi, eat something."
So the disciples began to say to one another, "No one brought him anything to eat, did they?"
So Jesus went on up the mountainside and sat down there with his disciples.
One of Jesus' disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him,
When they were all satisfied, Jesus said to his disciples, "Gather up the broken pieces that are left over, so that nothing is wasted."
Now when evening came, his disciples went down to the lake,
The next day the crowd that remained on the other side of the lake realized that only one small boat had been there, and that Jesus had not boarded it with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone.
So when the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, said, "This is a difficult saying! Who can understand it?"
When Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining about this, he said to them, "Does this cause you to be offended?
After this many of his disciples quit following him and did not accompany him any longer.
So Jesus' brothers advised him, "Leave here and go to Judea so your disciples may see your miracles that you are performing.
Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him, "If you continue to follow my teaching, you are really my disciples
His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who committed the sin that caused him to be born blind, this man or his parents?"
He answered, "I told you already and you didn't listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You people don't want to become his disciples too, do you?"
They heaped insults on him, saying, "You are his disciple! We are disciples of Moses!
Then after this, he said to his disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."
The disciples replied, "Rabbi, the Jewish leaders were just now trying to stone you to death! Are you going there again?"
Then the disciples replied, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."
Thus Jesus no longer went around publicly among the Judeans, but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, and stayed there with his disciples.
But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was going to betray him) said,
(His disciples did not understand these things when they first happened, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him and that these things had happened to him.)
He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to dry them with the towel he had wrapped around himself.
Jesus replied, "The one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not every one of you."
The disciples began to look at one another, worried and perplexed to know which of them he was talking about.
One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved, was at the table to the right of Jesus in a place of honor.
Everyone will know by this that you are my disciples -- if you have love for one another."
My Father is honored by this, that you bear much fruit and show that you are my disciples.
Then some of his disciples said to one another, "What is the meaning of what he is saying, 'In a little while you will not see me; again after a little while, you will see me,' and, 'because I am going to the Father'?"
His disciples said, "Look, now you are speaking plainly and not in obscure figures of speech!
When he had said these things, Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley. There was an orchard there, and he and his disciples went into it.
(Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, knew the place too, because Jesus had met there many times with his disciples.)
The girl who was the doorkeeper said to Peter, "You're not one of this man's disciples too, are you?" He replied, "I am not."
While this was happening, the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching.
Meanwhile Simon Peter was standing in the courtyard warming himself. They said to him, "You aren't one of his disciples too, are you?" Peter denied it: "I am not!"
Mary Magdalene came and informed the disciples, "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them what Jesus had said to her.
On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the disciples had gathered together and locked the doors of the place because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
The other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he replied, "Unless I see the wounds from the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the wounds from the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe it!"
