'Us' in the Bible
Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is, being interpreted, 'God with us.'
But Jesus answering said to him, Suffer it now; for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffers him.
and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors,
and lead us not into temptation, but save us from evil.
And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? hast thou come here before the time to torment us?
and the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.
And as Jesus passed on thence, two blind men followed him, crying and saying, Have mercy on us, Son of David.
Then, having dismissed the crowds, he went into the house; and his disciples came to him, saying, Expound to us the parable of the darnel of the field.
And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then has this man all these things?
And Peter answering said to him, Expound to us this parable.
But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came to him and asked him, saying, Dismiss her, for she cries after us.
And Peter answering said to Jesus, Lord, it is good we should be here. If thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles: for thee one, and for Moses one, and one for Elias.
Then Peter answering said to him, Behold, we have left all things and have followed thee; what then shall happen to us?
They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He says to them, Go also ye into the vineyard and whatsoever may be just ye shall receive.
saying, These last have worked one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the heat.
And lo, two blind men, sitting by the wayside, having heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David.
But the crowd rebuked them, that they might be silent. But they cried out the more, saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David.
The baptism of John, whence was it? of heaven or of men? And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say to us, Why then have ye not believed him?
But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance.
tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
And as he was sitting upon the mount of Olives the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be, and what is the sign of thy coming and the completion of the age?
And the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our torches are going out.
But the prudent answered saying, We cannot, lest it might not suffice for us and for you. Go rather to those that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Afterwards come also the rest of the virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us;
Arise, let us go; behold, he that delivers me up has drawn nigh.
But Jesus was silent. And the high priest answering said to him, I adjure thee by the living God that thou tell us if thou art the Christ the Son of God.
saying, Prophesy to us, Christ, Who is it who struck thee?
saying, I have sinned in having delivered up guiltless blood. But they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
And all the people answering said, His blood be on us and on our children.
But the rest said, Let be; let us see if Elias comes to save him.
saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, Jesus, Nazarene? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God.
And he says to them, Let us go elsewhere into the neighbouring country towns, that I may preach there also, for for this purpose am I come forth.
And on that day, when evening was come, he says to them, Let us go over to the other side:
and they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine that we may enter into them.
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended in him.
And Peter answering says to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good that we should be here; and let us make three tabernacles, for thee one, and for Moses one, and for Elias one.
and often it has cast him both into fire and into waters that it might destroy him: but if thou couldst do anything, be moved with pity on us, and help us.
And John answered him saying, Teacher, we saw some one casting out demons in thy name, who does not follow us, and we forbad him, because he does not follow us.
And there come to him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying to him, Teacher, we would that whatsoever we may ask thee, thou wouldst do it for us.
And they said to him, Give to us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy glory.
But those husbandmen said to one another, This is the heir: come, let us kill him and the inheritance will be ours.
Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if any one's brother die, and leave a wife behind, and leave no children, that his brother shall take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.
Tell us, when shall these things be, and what is the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?
and he will shew you a large upper room furnished ready. There make ready for us.
Arise, let us go; behold, he that delivers me up has drawn nigh.
And one, running and filling a sponge with vinegar, fixed it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone, let us see if Elias comes to take him down.
And they said to one another, Who shall roll us away the stone out of the door of the sepulchre?
Forasmuch as many have undertaken to draw up a relation concerning the matters fully believed among us,
as those who from the beginning were eye-witnesses of and attendants on the Word have delivered them to us,
and raised up a horn of deliverance for us in the house of David his servant;
deliverance from our enemies and out of the hand of all who hate us;
to give us, that, saved out of the hand of our enemies, we should serve him without fear
on account of the bowels of mercy of our God; wherein the dayspring from on high has visited us,
And it came to pass, as the angels departed from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, Let us make our way then now as far as Bethlehem, and let us see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.
And when they saw him they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Child, why hast thou dealt thus with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee distressed.
saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, Jesus, Nazarene? hast thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
for he loves our nation, and himself has built the synagogue for us.
And fear seized on all, and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet has been raised up amongst us; and God has visited his people.
But the men having come to him said, John the baptist has sent us to thee, saying, Art thou he that is coming, or are we to wait for another?
And it came to pass on one of the days, that he entered into a ship, himself and his disciples; and he said to them, Let us pass over to the other side of the lake; and they set off from shore.
And it came to pass as they departed from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.
And John answering said, Master, we saw some one casting out demons in thy name, and we forbad him, because he follows not with us.
Even the dust of your city, which cleaves to us on the feet, do we shake off against you; but know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh.
And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us through thy name.
And it came to pass as he was in a certain place praying, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples.
and remit us our sins, for we also remit to every one indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation.
And one of the doctors of the law answering says to him, Teacher, in saying these things thou insultest us also.
And Peter said to him, Lord, sayest thou this parable to us, or also to all?
From the time that the master of the house shall have risen up and shall have shut the door, and ye shall begin to stand without and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he answering shall say to you, I know you not whence ye are:
and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry:
And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm is fixed, so that those who desire to pass hence to you cannot, nor do they who desire to cross from there pass over unto us.
And the apostles said to the Lord, Give more faith to us.
And they lifted up their voice saying, Jesus, Master, have compassion on us.
But his citizens hated him, and sent an embassy after him, saying, We will not that this man should reign over us.
and spoke to him saying, Tell us by what authority thou doest these things, or who is it who has given thee this authority?
but if we should say, Of men, the whole people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.
But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may become ours.
Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
demanded of him saying, Teacher, Moses wrote to us, If any one's brother, who has a wife, die, and he die childless, his brother shall take the wife and raise up seed to his brother.
And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare the passover for us, that we may eat it.
If thou art the Christ, tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, ye will not at all believe;
But they cried out in a mass saying, Away with this man and release Barabbas to us;
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall upon us; and to the hills, Cover us:
Now one of the malefactors who had been hanged spoke insultingly to him, saying, Art not thou the Christ? save thyself and us.
And withal, certain women from amongst us astonished us, having been very early at the sepulchre,
And some of those with us went to the sepulchre, and found it so, as the women also had said, but him they saw not.
And they constrained him, saying, Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is declining. And he entered in to stay with them.
And they said to one another, Was not our heart burning in us as he spoke to us on the way, and as he opened the scriptures to us?
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we have contemplated his glory, a glory as of an only-begotten with a father), full of grace and truth;
They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign shewest thou to us, that thou doest these things?
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his sons, and his cattle?
The woman says to him, I know that Messias is coming, who is called Christ; when he comes he will tell us all things.
The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can he give us this flesh to eat?
Now in the law Moses has commanded us to stone such; thou therefore, what sayest thou?
