'Us' in the Bible
"Look! The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Emmanuel," which means "God with us."
So Jesus replied to him, "Let it happen now, for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then John yielded to him.
and forgive us our debts, as we ourselves have forgiven our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
So they came and woke him up saying, "Lord, save us! We are about to die!"
They cried out, "Son of God, leave us alone! Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
Then the demons begged him, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, shouting, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
He said, 'An enemy has done this.' So the slaves replied, 'Do you want us to go and gather them?'
Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him saying, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field."
And aren't all his sisters here with us? Where did he get all this?"
But Peter said to him, "Explain this parable to us."
But he did not answer her a word. Then his disciples came and begged him, "Send her away, because she keeps on crying out after us."
So Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, I will make three shelters -- one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
They said to him, "Why then did Moses command us to give a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her?"
Then Peter said to him, "Look, we have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?"
They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You go and work in the vineyard too.'
saying, 'These last fellows worked one hour, and you have made them equal to us who bore the hardship and burning heat of the day.'
Two blind men were sitting by the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, "Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David!"
The crowd scolded them to get them to be quiet. But they shouted even more loudly, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"
Tell us then, what do you think? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children he left his wife to his brother.
As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came to him privately and said, "Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.'
No,' they replied. 'There won't be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.'
Later, the other virgins came too, saying, 'Lord, lord! Let us in!'
Now on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
Get up, let us go. Look! My betrayer is approaching!"
But Jesus was silent. The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God."
saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!" But they said, "What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!"
In reply all the people said, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"
"Leave us alone, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are -- the Holy One of God!"
He replied, "Let us go elsewhere, into the surrounding villages, so that I can preach there too. For that is what I came out here to do."
And the demonic spirits begged him, "Send us into the pigs. Let us enter them."
Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren't his sisters here with us?" And so they took offense at him.
So Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three shelters -- one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
It has often thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and help us."
John said to him, "Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he was not following us."
Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask."
They said to him, "Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory."
"Teacher, Moses wrote for us: 'If a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, that man must marry the widow and father children for his brother.'
"Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that all these things are about to take place?"
Now on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed, Jesus' disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there."
They had been asking each other, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?"
Now many have undertaken to compile an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,
like the accounts passed on to us by those who were eyewitnesses and servants of the word from the beginning.
For he has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,
that we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us.
Because of our God's tender mercy the dawn will break upon us from on high
When the angels left them and went back to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, that the Lord has made known to us."
When his parents saw him, they were overwhelmed. His mother said to him, "Child, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously."
Then some soldiers also asked him, "And as for us -- what should we do?" He told them, "Take money from no one by violence or by false accusation, and be content with your pay."
"Ha! Leave us alone, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are -- the Holy One of God."
Fear seized them all, and they began to glorify God, saying, "A great prophet has appeared among us!" and "God has come to help his people!"
When the men came to Jesus, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, 'Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?'"
Then as the men were starting to leave, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah" -- not knowing what he was saying.
John answered, "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he is not a disciple along with us."
Now when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven and consume them?"
Then the seventy-two returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name!"
Now Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he stopped, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."
and forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And do not lead us into temptation."
One of the experts in religious law answered him, "Teacher, when you say these things you insult us too."
Then Peter said, "Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone?"
Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, then you will stand outside and start to knock on the door and beg him, 'Lord, let us in!' But he will answer you, 'I don't know where you come from.'
Bring the fattened calf and kill it! Let us eat and celebrate,
Besides all this, a great chasm has been fixed between us, so that those who want to cross over from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.'
raised their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us."
But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to be king over us!'
and said to him, "Tell us: By what authority are you doing these things? Or who it is who gave you this authority?"
But if we say, 'From people,' all the people will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet."
Is it right for us to pay the tribute tax to Caesar or not?"
They asked him, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies leaving a wife but no children, that man must marry the widow and father children for his brother.
Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us to eat."
and said, "If you are the Christ, tell us." But he said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe,
They began to accuse him, saying, "We found this man subverting our nation, forbidding us to pay the tribute tax to Caesar and claiming that he himself is Christ, a king."
Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, he has done nothing deserving death.
But they all shouted out together, "Take this man away! Release Barabbas for us!"
Then they will begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us!' and to the hills, 'Cover us!'
One of the criminals who was hanging there railed at him, saying, "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
Furthermore, some women of our group amazed us. They were at the tomb early this morning,
Then some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see him."
but they urged him, "Stay with us, because it is getting toward evening and the day is almost done." So he went in to stay with them.
They said to each other, "Didn't our hearts burn within us while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining the scriptures to us?"
Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory -- the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father.
Then they said to him, "Who are you? Tell us so that we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?"
So then the Jewish leaders responded, "What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?"
Surely you're not greater than our ancestor Jacob, are you? For he gave us this well and drank from it himself, along with his sons and his livestock."
The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (the one called Christ); "whenever he comes, he will tell us everything."
Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus began to argue with one another, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
In the law Moses commanded us to stone to death such women. What then do you say?"
They replied, "You were born completely in sinfulness, and yet you presume to teach us?" So they threw him out.
The Jewish leaders surrounded him and asked, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly."
