'Us' in the Bible
"Behold, the virgin {will become pregnant} and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Emmanuel," which is translated, "God with us."
But Jesus answered [and] said to him, "Permit [it] now, for in this way it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he permitted him.
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
And they came [and] woke him, saying, "Lord, save [us]! We are perishing!"
And behold, they cried out, saying, "{What do you have to do with us}, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
So the demons implored him, saying, "If you are going to expel us, send us into the herd of pigs."
And [as] Jesus was going away from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
And he said to them, 'An enemy has done this!' So the slaves said to him, 'Then do you want us to go [and] gather them?'
Then he left the crowds [and] came into the house, and his disciples came to him saying, "Explain the parable of the darnel in the field to us."
And are not all his sisters with us? From where then did this man [get] all these [things]?"
But Peter answered [and] said to him, "Explain this parable to us."
But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came up [and] asked him, saying, "Send her away, because she is crying out after us!"
They said to him, "Why then did Moses command [us] to give a document--a certificate of divorce--and to divorce her?"
Then Peter answered [and] said to him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed you. What then will there be for us?"
They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You go also into the vineyard.'
saying, 'These last [people] worked one hour and you made them equal to us who have endured the burden of the day and the burning heat!'
And behold, [there were] two blind men sitting beside the road. [When they] heard that Jesus was passing by, they called out, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"
And the crowd rebuked them so that they would be quiet. But they called out all the more, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"
From where was the baptism of John--from heaven or from men?" And they began to discuss [this] among themselves, saying, "If we say 'From heaven,' he will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'
But [when] the tenant farmers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance!'
Therefore tell us what you think. Is it permitted to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
Now there were seven brothers with us. And the first died [after] getting married, and [because he] did not have descendants, he left his wife to his brother.
And [as] he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came up to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these [things] happen, and what [will be] the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
And the foolish ones said to the wise ones, 'Give us [some] of your olive oil, because our lamps are going out!'
But the wise ones answered saying, "Certainly there will never be enough for us and for you! Go instead to those who sell [olive oil] and buy [some] for yourselves.'
And later the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, lord, open [the door] for us!'
Now on the first [day] of the feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came up to Jesus, saying, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
Get up, let us go! Behold, the one who is betraying me is approaching!"
But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, "I put you under oath by the living God, that you tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God!"
saying, "Prophesy for us, [you] Christ! Who is it who hit you?"
saying, "I have sinned [by] betraying innocent blood!" But they said, "What [is that] to us? You see to [it]!"
And all the people answered [and] said, "His blood [be] on us and on our children!"
But the others said, "Leave [him] alone! let us see if Elijah is coming to save him."
saying, "{Leave us alone}, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"
And he said to them, "Let us go elsewhere, into the neighboring rural towns, so that I can preach there also, because I have come out for this [very] reason."
And on that day, [when it] was evening, he said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side."
and they implored him, saying, "Send us to the pigs so that we may enter into them."
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?" And they were offended by him.
And Peter answered [and] said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good [that] we are here! And let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah."
And often it has thrown him both into fire and into water, in order that it could destroy him. But if you are able [to do] anything, have compassion on us [and] help us!"
John said to him, "Teacher, we saw someone expelling demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us."
And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him [and] said to him, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask you."
So they said to him, "Grant to us that we may sit one at your right hand and one at [your] left in your glory."
But those tenant farmers said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and the inheritance will be ours!'
"Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if someone's brother dies and he leaves behind a wife and does not leave a child, that his brother should take the wife and {father} descendants for his brother.
"Tell us, when will these [things] happen, and what [will be] the sign when all these [things] are about to be accomplished?"
And on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go [and] prepare, so that you can eat the Passover?"
And he will show you a large upstairs room furnished [and] ready, and prepare for us there."
Get up, let us go! Behold, the one who is betraying me is approaching!"
And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put [it] on a reed, [and] gave [it] to him to drink, saying, "Leave [him] alone! Let us see if Elijah is coming to take him down."
And they were saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?"
Since many have attempted to compile an account concerning the events that have been fulfilled among us,
just as those who were eyewitnesses and servants of the word from the beginning passed on to us,
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,
salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all those who hate us,
because of the merciful compassion of our God by which the dawn will visit to help us from on high,
And it happened that when the angels had departed from them into heaven, the shepherds began to say to one another, "Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has revealed to us!"
And [when they] saw him, they were astounded and his mother said to him, "Child, why have you done this to us? Look, your father and I have been searching for you anxiously!"
"Ha! {Leave us alone}, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"
because he loves our nation and he himself built the synagogue for us."
And fear seized [them] all, and they began to glorify God, saying, "A great prophet has appeared among us!" and "God has visited to help his people!"
And [when] the men came to him, they said, "John the Baptist sent us to you, saying, 'Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?'"
Now it happened that on one of the days both he and his disciples got into a boat, and he said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side of the lake." And they set sail,
And it happened that as they were going away from him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good [for] us to be here. And let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah," not knowing what he was saying.
And John answered [and] said, "Master, we saw someone expelling demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him, because he does not follow in company with us."
Now [when] the disciples James and John saw [it], they said, "Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven and consume them?"
And the seventy-two returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!"
And it happened that while he was in a certain place praying, when he stopped a certain one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples."
And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation."
And one of the legal experts answered [and] said to him, "Teacher, [when you] say these [things], you insult us also!"
And Peter said, "Lord, are you telling this parable for us, or also for everyone?"
when once the master of the house has gotten up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock [on] the door, saying, 'Lord, open [the door] for us!' And he will answer [and] say to you, 'I do not know where you are from!'
And bring the fattened calf--kill [it] and let us eat [and] celebrate,
And in [addition to] all these [things], a great chasm has been established between us and you, so that those who want to cross over from here to you are not able [to do so], nor can they cross over from there to us.'
And they raised [their] voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to be king over us!'
and said, saying to him, "Tell us, by what authority you are doing these [things], or who is the one who gave you this authority?
But if we say, 'From men,' all the people will stone us to death, because they are convinced [that] John was a prophet."
But [when] the tenant farmers saw him, they began to reason with one another, saying, 'This is the heir. Let us kill him so that the inheritance will become ours!'
Is it permitted [for] us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
saying, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us if someone's brother dies having a wife, and this man is childless, that his brother should take the wife and {father} descendants for his brother.
And he sent Peter and John, saying, "Go [and] prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat [it].
So they said to him, "Where do you want us to prepare [it]?"
saying, "If you are the Christ, tell us!" But he said to them, "If I tell you, you will never believe,
And they began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this man misleading our nation and forbidding [us] to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying [he] himself is Christ, a king!"
But neither [did] Herod, because he sent him back to us. And behold, nothing deserving death {has been done} by him.
But they all cried out in unison, saying, "Take this man away, and release for us Barabbas!"
Then they will begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us!' and to the hills, 'Cover us!'
And one of the criminals who were hanged there reviled him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself--and us!"
But also some women from among us astonished us, who were at the tomb early in the morning,
And some of those with us went out to the tomb and found [it] like this, just as the women had also said, but him they did not see."
And they urged him strongly, saying, "Stay with us, because it is [getting] toward evening, and by this time the day is far spent." And he went in to stay with them.
And they said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining the scriptures to us?"
And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Then they said to him, "Who are you, so that we can give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?"
