Remember, LORD, the rebuke that the multitude of the people do unto thy servants, and how I have borne it in my bosom;

Let the Lord be praised for ever. So be it, So be it.

In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

For we consume away in thy displeasure, and are afraid at thy wrathful indignation.


For all our days pass away in Your wrath;
We have finished our years like a whispered sigh.


Who understands the power of Your anger? [Who connects this brevity of life among us with Your judgment of sin?]
And Your wrath, [who connects it] with the [reverent] fear that is due You?

Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

Satisfy us at morn with Thy kindness, And we sing and rejoice all our days.

He will take you out of the bird-net, and keep you safe from wasting disease.

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

You will only see it with your eyes
and witness the punishment of the wicked.

Because he has given me his love, I will take him out of danger: I will put him in a place of honour, because he has kept my name in his heart.
