They caused confusion among the crowd and the city officials who heard these things.
These were the noblest of birth among them of Thessalonica, which received the word with all diligence of mind, and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were even so.
Therefore many from among them believed, and of Grecian women of the upper classes and men not a few.
But when the Jews of Thessalonica heard that Paul was proclaiming the word of God at Beroea as well, they came to create a disturbance and a riot among the crowds at Beroea too.
And Paul waiting for them among the Athenians, his spirit was excited in him, seeing the city being addicted to idol worship.
Among others, some Epicurean and Stoic Philosophers joined issue with him. Some would ask "What is this prater wanting to make out?", while others would say "He seems to be a Preacher of foreign Deities." (This was because he was telling the Good News about Jesus and the Resurrection).
(Now all the Athenians, and strangers sojourning among them, spent their time in nothing else, but to tell or to hear something new.)
For in him we live, and move, and are; as certain of the composers among you have said, For we also are his race.
because he has set a day in which he is going to judge the habitable earth in righteousness by the man whom he has appointed, giving the proof of it to all in having raised him from among the dead.
So Paul departed from among them.
However, some men joined him and believed, including Dionysius the Areopagite, a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

He immediately got some officers and men and hurried down among them, and when they saw the colonel and the soldiers they stopped beating Paul.
And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
There a man named Ananias, a man devout in strict accordance with the law, of good reputation among all the Jews who lived there,
Then He said to me, 'Go, because I am to send you out and far away among the heathen.'"
On the next day, he desiring to know with certainty why he was accused by the Jews, he freed him from his bonds, and commanded the chief priests and all their sanhedrin to appear. And bringing Paul down, he set him among them.
Noticing, however, that the Sanhedrin consisted partly of Sadducees and partly of Pharisees, he called out loudly among them, "Brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of Pharisees. It is because of my hope of a resurrection of the dead that I am on my trial."
As soon as he said this, a dispute arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and there was a sharp division of opinion among those present.
And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.
Thou, therefore, do not be persuaded by them, for there are lying in wait for him, from among them, more than forty men, - who, indeed, have bound themselves under a curse, neither to eat nor drink, till they have killed him; and, now, are they ready, awaiting the promise, from thee.
For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
They didn’t find me disputing with anyone or causing a disturbance among the crowd, either in the temple complex or in the synagogues or anywhere in the city.

unless concerning this one voice, wherewith I cried aloud among them, as I stood - Concerning the raising of the dead, am, I, to be judged, this day, by you.
And the high-priest and principal men among the Jews, appeared before him against Paul, and made application to him,
They, therefore, among you (saith he) who are in power, let them go down with me; and, if there is in the man, anything amiss, let them accuse him.

And, after retiring, discussed the case among themselves. "There is nothing," they said, "deserving death or imprisonment in this man's conduct";
Since many were going without food, Paul stood up among them and said, “You men should have followed my advice not to sail from Crete and sustain this damage and loss.
