For, when I think about this, I am terrified and my body feels a shudder.

This one dieth in his perfect strength, Wholly at ease and quiet.

And this one dieth with a bitter soul, And have not eaten with gladness.

“Have you not asked those who travel this way,
And do you not recognize their witness?

For this cause, round about thee, are snares, and a dread startleth thee suddenly;

The righteous see this and rejoice;
the innocent mock them, saying,

"Reconcile yourself with God, and be at peace with him; in this way your prosperity will be good.

"My saying is yet this day in bitterness, and my hand heavy among my groanings.

For this cause, from his presence, am I driven in fear, I diligently consider and am kept back from him in dread:

From the city, men groan;
the mortally wounded cry for help,
yet God pays no attention to this crime.

"If this is not so, who can prove me a liar and reduce my words to nothing?"

Who helped you say all of this? Who inspired you?"

This is now a short sum of his doings. But who is able sufficiently to rehearse his works? Who can perceive and understand the thunder of his power?"

“For what is the hope of the godless, even though he has gained [in this world],
When God takes his life?

Lo, ye -- all of you -- have seen, And why is this -- ye are altogether vain?

This is the portion of wicked man with God, And the inheritance of terrible ones From the Mighty they receive.

And the wisdom -- whence is it found? And where is this, the place of understanding?

And the wisdom -- whence doth it come? And where is this, the place of understanding?

When I laughed, they knew well it was not earnest; and this testimony of my countenance pleased them nothing at all.

They tear up my pathways; they profit from my destruction, and they need no help to do this!

For this is an infamy; yea, it is an iniquity to be judged by the judges:

this is also a sin that deserves to be judged, since I would have tried to deceive God above."

O that I had one which would hear me. Lo, this is my cause: Let the almighty give me answer, and let him that is my contrary party, sue me with libel.

may thorns spring up instead of wheat, and obnoxious weeds instead of barley." With this, Job's discourse with his friends is completed.

So then Elihu, son of Barachel, the Buzite, responded and said: - Young, am I, whereas, ye, are aged, For this cause, I faltered, and feared - to shew my knowledge unto you:

For this, I said, Hear to me; I also will show my knowledge.

Lo, in this thou hast not been righteous, I answer thee, that greater is God than man.

Hear this, Job, listen to me; be silent and I will speak.

Now this is Job's claim: "Even though I'm innocent, God has stopped treating me righteously.

For this, ye men of heart, hear to me: far be it to God from doing evil; and the Almighty from iniquity.

And if there is understanding, hear this, Give ear to the voice of my words.

For this he will know their work, and he turned the night, and they will be crushed.

When he giveth quietness, who then will disturb? and when he hideth his face, who shall behold him? and this towards a nation, or towards a man alike;

Is it your opinion that God should recompense it, because you reject this? But you must choose, and not I, so tell us what you know.

This hast thou reckoned for judgment: Thou hast said -- 'My righteousness is more than God's?'

And he reveals this for correction, and says that they must turn from evil.

Take heed -- do not turn unto iniquity, For on this thou hast fixed Rather than on affliction.

Also, at this my heart trembleth, And it moveth from its place.

And it goes this way and that, round about, turning itself by his guiding, to do whatever he gives orders to be done, on the face of his world of men,

He causes this to happen for punishment,
for His land, or for His faithful love.

Hear this, O Job, Stand and consider the wonders of God.

For this cause men go in fear of him; he has no respect for any who are wise in heart.

Who is this -- darkening counsel, By words without knowledge?

and said, "You may come only this far and no more. Your majestic waves will stop here.'?

“Have you understood the expanse of the earth?
Tell Me, if you know all this.

Where is this -- the way light dwelleth? And darkness, where is this -- its place?

Where is this, the way light is apportioned? It scattereth an east wind over the earth.

Who can count the thin clouds, in wisdom? And, the bottles of the heavens, who can empty out;

“Do you know the time when the wild goats of the rock give birth [to their young]?
Do you observe the calving of the deer?

“Will you have faith and depend on him to return your grain
And gather it from your threshing floor?

“[If you can do all this, Job, proving your divine power] then I [God] will also praise you and acknowledge
That your own right hand can save you.

If a man will consider all high things, this same is a king over all the children of pride."

Who is this, hiding counsel without knowledge?' Therefore, I have declared, and understand not, Too wonderful for me, and I know not.

For this cause, I tremble and repent, on dust and ashes.

And Job liveth after this a hundred and forty years, and seeth his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations;

But this is not the case with the wicked. They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

For this cause, shall the lawless not stand in the judgment, - nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

I will declare the decree: Jehovah hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; I this day have begotten thee.

Of Jehovah is this salvation; On Thy people is Thy blessing! Selah.

But understand this: the LORD has set apart the godly for himself! The LORD will hear me when I cry out to him!

Be angry, yet do not sin. Think about this when upon your beds, and be silent. Interlude

I am absolutely terrified, and you, Lord -- how long will this continue?

LORD, my God, if I have done this thing, if there is injustice on my hands,

The wicked are turned back and sent to Sheol; this is the destiny of all the nations that ignore God,

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

You, LORD, will keep them safe, you will guard them from this generation forever.

He does not charge interest when he lends his money. He does not take bribes to testify against the innocent. The one who lives like this will never be upended.

Because of this my heart is glad, and my glory is full of joy: while my flesh takes its rest in hope.

Lord, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, from the murderers of this world! They enjoy prosperity; you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring.

But as for me, justified, I will behold your face; when I awake, your presence will satisfy me. To the Director: By the servant of the LORD, David, who spoke the words of this song to the LORD on the day when the LORD delivered him from the hands of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

For the music director; by the Lord's servant David, who sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord rescued him from the power of all his enemies, including Saul. He said: "I love you, Lord, my source of strength!

Because of this the Lord has given me the reward of my righteousness, because my hands are clean in his eyes.

This God--his way [is] blameless. The word of Yahweh [is] flawless. He [is] a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

For this cause, will I praise thee among the nations, O Yahweh, and, to thy Name, will I sweep the strings: -

They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

This person will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

This is the generation (description) of those who diligently seek Him and require Him as their greatest need,
Who seek Your face, even [as did] Jacob. Selah.

Who is this majestic king? The Lord who is strong and mighty! The Lord who is mighty in battle!

Who is [He then] this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory [who rules over all creation with His heavenly armies]. Selah.

Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O Lord, for you have always acted in this manner.

Good and upright, is Yahweh, For this cause, will he direct sinners into the way.

Who is this -- the man fearing Jehovah? He directeth him in the way He doth choose.

Though an army encamp against me,
My heart will not fear;
Though war arise against me,
Even in this I am confident.

One prayer have I made to the Lord, and this is my heart's desire; that I may have a place in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, looking on his glory, and getting wisdom in his Temple.

And now my head will be lifted up higher than my haters who are round me: because of this I will make offerings of joy in his tent; I will make a song, truly I will make a song of praise to the Lord.

I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

The Lord is my strength and my breastplate, my heart had faith in him and I am helped; for this cause my heart is full of rapture, and I will give him praise in my song.

Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You [for forgiveness] in a time when You [are near and] may be found;
Surely when the great waters [of trial and distressing times] overflow they will not reach [the spirit in] him.

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
And saved him from all his troubles.

O Lord, how long are you going to just stand there and watch this? Rescue me from their destructive attacks; guard my life from the young lions!

You have seen this, O Lord; do not keep silent.
O Lord, do not be far from me.

Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this:

He hath put a new song in my mouth, even a thanksgiving unto our God. Many men seeing this, shall fear the LORD, and put their trust in him.

I have told the great assembly about your justice. Look! I spare no words! O Lord, you know this is true.

My enemies ask this cruel question about me, 'When will he finally die and be forgotten?'

All mine enemies whisper together against me; even against me do they imagine this evil.

By this I know that You favor and delight in me,
Because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
From everlasting to everlasting [from this age to the next, and forever].
Amen and Amen (so be it).

I remember this as I pour out my heart:
how I walked with many,
leading the festive procession to the house of God,
with joyful and thankful shouts.

Why am I so depressed?
Why this turmoil within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him,
my Savior and my God.
