He [then] went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if this [cup of suffering] cannot pass away unless I drink it [i.e., experience the suffering], [then] let what You want be done."
Then the High Priest tore his robes. "This is blasphemy!" he exclaimed. "Why do we want any more witnesses? You have just heard his blasphemy!
So [after] they had assembled, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release for you--Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called Christ?"
So the governor answered [and] said to them, "Which of the two do you want me to release for you?" And they said, "Barabbas!"
they gave him wine mixed with gall to drink, and [when he] tasted [it] he did not want to drink [it].
He trusts in God; let him deliver him now if he wants to, because he said, 'I am the Son of God'!"
saying, "We want you to say, 'Jesus' disciples came at night and stole his body while we were asleep.'
"What do you want of us, Jesus, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, God's Holy One!"
There came to Him a leper, begging Him on his knees, saying to Him, "If you want to, you can cure me."
And His heart was moved with pity for him, so He stretched out His hand and touched him, and said, "I do want to! Be cured!"
But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"" Then he told the paralyzed man,
"Have you never read," answered Jesus, "what David did when he was in want and hungry, he and his companions--
For whoever will do what God wants, that person is my brother, and sister and mother."
some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth, and it soon sprang up, for want of a sufficient depth of earth.
but when the sun was up, it was scorched, and for want of root, withered away.
and screamed aloud, "What do you want of me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God's name, I beg you, do not torture me."
And he wondered at their want of faith. And he went about the surrounding villages teaching.

And she came in immediately with haste to the king [and] asked, saying, "I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter immediately."
And [although he] was deeply grieved, the king, because of his oaths and {dinner guests}, did not want to refuse her.
From there he arose, and went away into the region of Tyre and Sidon. He entered into a house, and did not want anyone to know it, but he could not escape notice.
But He was saying to her, "Let the children first eat all they want, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it out to the house dogs."
And summoning the crowd together with his disciples, he said to them, "If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life on account of me and of the gospel will save it.
Straightway crying out, the father of the child was saying - I have faith! help my, want, of faith.
And from there they went out [and] passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know,
And he sat down [and] called the twelve and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he will be last of all and servant of all."
Jesus looked at him and loved him. "There is one thing you want," he said; "go and sell all you have; give the money to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, take up the cross, and follow me."

And, if any one says to you 'Why are you doing that?', say 'The Master wants it, and will be sure to send it back here at once.'"

These women followed him when he was in Galilee, and supplied his wants; and many other women who went up with him to Jerusalem.
Still later he appeared to the Eleven themselves when they were at table, and reproached them for their obstinacy and want of faith, because they had not believed those who had seen him after he had been raised from the dead.
And the devil said to him, "I will give you all this domain and their glory, because it has been handed over to me, and I can give it to whomever I want.
"Ha! What do you want of us, Jesus, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are. You are God's Holy One."
And it happened while Jesus was in one of the towns [i.e., surrounding Lake Galilee], that a man covered with an infectious skin disease appeared and, when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face [to the ground] and begged Him, saying, "If you want to, you can heal me." [Note: Throughout this narrative the terms "heal/healing" are originally "clean/cleansing" because the Jews viewed a person with such a disease as ceremonially "unclean." See Lev. 13:1-3].
Then He reached out His hand and touched the man, saying, "I [do] want to; be healed." And immediately the infectious skin disease left him.
but Jesus replied, they that are in health don't want a physician: but they that are sick.
And no one [after] drinking old [wine] wants new, because he says, 'The old is [just] fine!'"
Jesus said to them, "I want to ask you, Is it allowable on the Sabbath to do people good or to do them harm? to save life or to destroy it?"

The Master answered, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and anxious about many things, but our wants are few,
I say to you, Although he will not get up and give them to him because he is his friend, because of his shamelessness, at any rate, he will rise and give him as many as he wants.
and thus he reason'd with himself, what shall I do for want of room to store up my crop?
for it is enough that the Gentiles are so concern'd about these things: as for you, your father is acquainted with all your wants.
At [that] same hour some Pharisees came up [and] said to him, "Go out and depart from here, because Herod wants to kill you!"
For which one of you who wants to build a [lookout] tower will not first sit down and calculate its cost, to see whether he has enough [money and materiel] to complete it?
And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
and he was reduced to want, which forc'd him to make his application to one of the inhabitants there, who sent him to his farm to look after his swine.
"But on coming to himself he said, "'How many of my father's hired men have more bread than they want, while I here am dying of hunger!
But he became angry and did not want to go in. So his father came out [and] began to implore him.
And in [addition to] all these [things], a great chasm has been established between us and you, so that those who want to cross over from here to you are not able [to do so], nor can they cross over from there to us.'
But the tax collector, standing far away, did not want even to raise his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!'
And Jesus hearing it, said to him, One thing you yet want; sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have a treasure in heaven, and come, follow me.
"What do you want me to do for you?" And he said, "Lord, that I may regain [my] sight.
But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to be king over us!'
But these enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring [them] here and slaughter them [in] my presence!'"
And, if anybody asks you 'Why are you untying it?,' you are to say this--'The Master wants it.'"
And the two disciples answered--"The Master wants it."
for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had.
So they said to him, "Where do you want us to prepare [it]?"
When I sent you, added Jesus, without either purse, or bag, or shoes, was you in any want? not at all, answer'd they.
saying, Father, if thou want, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless not my will, but thine be done.
And when [the rest of] the disciples, who were gathered around Jesus, saw what was about to happen, they said, "Lord, do you want us to strike them with a sword?"
At this they exclaimed: "Why do we want any more evidence? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!"
Jesus turned around and saw them following and said to them, "What do you want?" So they said to him, "Rabbi" (which is translated Teacher), "where are you staying?"
So, Jesus said to her, "[My dear] woman, what do you want me to do [about it]? My time [i.e., to be revealed to people as the Messiah] has not yet come."
and he did not want any information concerning man: for he knew of himself the secret of their hearts.
