'Own' in the Bible

Even if I were in the right, my own mouth would condemn me;if I were blameless, my mouth would declare me guilty.

then You dip me in a pit of mud,and my own clothes despise me!

Then I would speak and not fear Him.But that is not the case; I am on my own. >

Why do I put myself at riskand take my life in my own hands?

He feels only the pain of his own bodyand mourns only for himself.

Your own mouth condemns you, not I;your own lips testify against you.

His powerful stride is shortened,and his own schemes trip him up.

For his own feet lead him into a net,and he strays into its mesh.

I call for my servant, but he does not answer,even if I beg him with my own mouth.

My breath is offensive to my wife,and my own family finds me repulsive.

he will vanish forever like his own dung.Those who know him will ask, “Where is he?”

His children will beg from the poor,for his own hands must give back his wealth.

But their prosperity is not of their own doing.The counsel of the wicked is far from me!

Let his own eyes see his demise;let him drink from the Almighty’s wrath!

So I thought: I will die in my own nestand multiply my days as the sand.

let my own wife grind grain for another man,and let other men sleep with her.

if I have rejoiced because my wealth is greator because my own hand has acquired so much,

So these three men quit answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

Happy is the nation whose God is Yahweh—the people He has chosen to be His own possession!

for in his own eyes he flatters himself too muchto discover and hate his sin.

Their swords will enter their own hearts,and their bows will be broken.

They will be made to stumble;their own tongues work against them.All who see them will shake their heads.

For the Lord listens to the needyand does not despiseHis own who are prisoners.

Remember Your congregation,which You purchased long agoand redeemed as the tribe for Your own possession.Remember Mount Zion where You dwell.

So I gave them over to their stubborn heartsto follow their own plans.

Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against His people,and He abhorred His own inheritance.

Let the wicked fall into their own nets,while I pass by safely.

The righteousness of the upright rescues them,but the treacherous are trapped by their own desires.

A fool’s way is right in his own eyes,but whoever listens to counsel is wise.

The one who guards his mouth protects his life;the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.

Every wise woman builds her house,but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

The heart knows its own bitterness,and no outsider shares in its joy.

We all went astray like sheep;we all have turned to our own way;and the Lord has punished Himfor the iniquity of us all.

These dogs have fierce appetites;they never have enough.And they are shepherdswho have no discernment;all of them turn to their own way,every last one for his own gain.

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,to bring the poor and homeless into your house,to clothe the naked when you see him,and not to ignore your own flesh and blood?

“If you keep from desecrating the Sabbath,from doing whatever you want on My holy day;if you call the Sabbath a delight,and the holy day of the Lord honorable;if you honor it, not going your own ways,seeking your own pleasure, or talking too much;

He saw that there was no man—He was amazed that there was no one interceding;so His own arm brought salvation,and His own righteousness supported Him.

I spread out My hands all day longto a rebellious peoplewho walk in the wrong path,following their own thoughts.

“I will pronounce My judgments against them for all the evil they did when they abandoned Me to burn incense to other gods and to worship the works of their own hands.

I have struck down your children in vain;they would not accept discipline.Your own sword has devoured your prophetslike a ravaging lion.

The prophets prophesy falsely,and the priests rule by their own authority.My people love it like this.But what will you do at the end of it?

Shepherds and their flocks will come against her;they will pitch their tents all around her.Each will pasture his own portion.

Listen, earth!I am about to bring disaster on these people,the fruit of their own plotting,for they have paid no attention to My word.They have rejected My instruction.

Yet they didn’t listen or pay attention but followed their own advice and according to their own stubborn, evil heart. They went backward and not forward.

I know, Lord,that a man’s way of life is not his own;no one who walks determines his own steps.

Even your brothers—your own father’s household—even they were treacherous to you;even they have cried out loudly after you.Do not have confidence in them,though they speak well of you.

These evil people, who refuse to listen to Me, who follow the stubbornness of their own hearts, and who have followed other gods to serve and worship—they will be like this underwear, of no use at all.

But the Lord said to me, “These prophets are prophesying a lie in My name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a false vision, worthless divination, the deceit of their own minds.

The people they are prophesying to will be thrown into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. There will be no one to bury them—they, their wives, their sons, and their daughters. I will pour out their own evil on them.”

Are you a king because you excel in cedar?Didn’t your father eat and drinkand administer justice and righteousness?Then it went well with him.
