O children of Abraham, God's servant, you descendants of Jacob, God's chosen ones!

But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God's house. I trust in God's loving kindness forever and ever.

I thirst for God, for the living God. I say, "When will I be able to go and appear in God's presence?"

We heard about God's mighty deeds, now we have seen them, in the city of the Lord, the invincible Warrior, in the city of our God. God makes it permanently secure. (Selah)

The earth has yielded its harvest [as evidence of His approval];
God, our God, blesses us.

But the king will rejoice in God;
Everyone who swears by Him [honoring the true God, acknowledging His authority and majesty] will glory,
For the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.

For the music director; by David; written to get God's attention. O God, please be willing to rescue me! O Lord, hurry and help me!

How blessed and favored by God are those whose way is blameless [those with personal integrity, the upright, the guileless],
Who walk in the law [and who are guided by the precepts and revealed will] of the Lord.

The rulers of the peoples have come together, with the people of the God of Abraham; because the powers of the earth are God's: he is lifted up on high.

Once has God said, twice has it come to my ears, that power is God's:

So that they might put their hope in God, and not let God's works go out of their minds, but keep his laws;

I will comfort myself in God's word; yea, I will hope in God, and not fear. What can flesh then do unto me?

But as for me, God’s presence is my good.
I have made the Lord God my refuge,
so I can tell about all You do.

In God's word will I rejoice, in the LORD's word will I comfort me.

God’s anger flared up against them,
and He killed some of their best men.
He struck down Israel’s choice young men.

They are planted in the LORD's house. They will flourish in our God's courts.

As for God's chosen people who are in the land, and the leading officials I admired so much --

Indeed, with your help I can charge against an army; by my God's power I can jump over a wall.

A psalm of David, written to get God's attention. O Lord, do not continue to rebuke me in your anger! Do not continue to punish me in your raging fury!

For the music director; a well-written song by David. It was written when Doeg the Edomite went and informed Saul: "David has arrived at the home of Ahimelech." Why do you boast about your evil plans, O powerful man? God's loyal love protects me all day long!

We would share personal thoughts with each other; in God's temple we would walk together among the crowd.

By God's power we will conquer; he will trample down our enemies.

Come and witness God's exploits! His acts on behalf of people are awesome!

Acknowledge God's power, his sovereignty over Israel, and the power he reveals in the skies!

I will sing praises to God's name! I will magnify him as I give him thanks!

Then I entered the precincts of God's temple, and understood the destiny of the wicked.

They said in their heart, “Let us completely subdue them.”
They have burned all the meeting places of God in the land.

For He established a testimony (a specific precept) in Jacob
And appointed a law in Israel,
Which He commanded our fathers
That they should teach to their children [the great facts of God’s transactions with Israel],

We do not see any signs of God's presence; there are no longer any prophets and we have no one to tell us how long this will last.

Therefore God's people return there and drink it all in like water until they're satiated.

They did not keep God's covenant, and refused to live by his Law.

Everyone was gripped with fear and acknowledged God's deeds, understanding what he had done.

God's chariots were many thousands. The Lord was there with them at Sinai in holiness.

He has remembered his gracious love; his faithfulness toward the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth saw our God's deliverance.

for a day in your Temple courts is better than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather stand at the entrance of God's house than live in the tent of wickedness.

God's foundation is in the holy mountains.

He sent [thick, oppressive] darkness and made the land dark;
And Moses and Aaron did not rebel against His words.

because they had rebelled against God's commands, and rejected the instructions of the sovereign king.

By God's power we will conquer; he will trample down our enemies.

Judah became His sanctuary,
And Israel His dominion.

Our soul is greatly filled
With the scoffing of those who are at ease,
And with the contempt of the proud [who disregard God’s law].

For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land of the righteous,
So that the righteous will not reach out their hands to do wrong.

O house of Israel, bless and praise the Lord [with gratitude];
O house of Aaron, bless the Lord;

To make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts
And the glorious majesty of Your kingdom.
