(for who was it, who, having heard, provoked? but was it not all who came out of Egypt by Moses?

And with whom was he displeased forty years? was it not with them that sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

And to whom did he make an oath that they might not come into his rest? was it not to those who went against his orders?

So, as long as God's promise of entering into a state of rest with Him [still] remains, we should fear that someone among you will appear [in the end] to have fallen short of [attaining] it.
