And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
For a friend of mine in his journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?
I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give to him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needs.
For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he asks for a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
And others, testing him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.
Then he goes, and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman of the crowd lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which you have nursed.
And as he spoke, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to eat.
And the Lord said unto him, Now do you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.
Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Teacher, thus saying you reproach us also.
And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to oppose him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:
Lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.
But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear him, who after he has killed has power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven.
And one of the crowd said unto him, Teacher, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
But God said unto him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have prepared?
And you yourselves be like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocks, they may open unto him immediately.
Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speak you this parable unto us, or even to all?
Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he has.
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in pieces, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
When you go with your adversary to the magistrate, as you are in the way, give diligence that you may settle with him; lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer cast you into prison.
There were present at that time some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and fertilize it:
And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.
The Lord then answered him, and said, You hypocrite, does not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his donkey from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get out, and depart from here: for Herod will kill you.
And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
And, behold, there was a certain man before him who had dropsy.
And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;
And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have a donkey or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not immediately pull him out on the sabbath day?
And they could not answer him again about these things.
When you are bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest place; lest a more honorable man than you be bidden of him;
And he that bade you and him come and say to you, Give this man your place; and you begin with shame to take the lowest place.
Then said he also to him that bade him, When you give a dinner or a supper, call not your friends, nor your brethren, neither your kinsmen, nor your rich neighbors; lest they also bid you again, and a recompense be made you.
And when one of them that sat at table with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
Then said he unto him, A certain man gave a great supper, and bade many:
And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it: I pray you have me excused.
And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
Lest perhaps, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
Or what king, going to make war against another king, sits not down first, and consults whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand?
It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dung hill; but men cast it out. He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
Then drew near unto him all the tax collectors and sinners to hear him.
And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
And he would gladly have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before you,
And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight, and am no more worthy to be called your son.
But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and sandals on his feet:
And he said unto him, your brother has come; and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him safe and sound.
And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore his father came out, and entreated him.
But as soon as this your son came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you have killed for him the fatted calf.
And he said unto him, Son, you are ever with me, and all that I have is yours.
And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.
And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of you? give an account of your stewardship; for you may be no longer steward.
So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owe you unto my lord?
And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take your bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
Then said he to another, And how much owe you? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take your bill, and write fourscore.
And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
Then he said, I pray you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house:
Abraham said unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that temptations to sin will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
It would be better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he was cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.
Take heed to yourselves: If your brother trespasses against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
And if he trespasses against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turns again to you, saying, I repent; you shall forgive him.
But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to eat?
And will not rather say unto him, Make ready that I may eat, and gird yourself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward you shall eat and drink?
Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.
And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off:
And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
And he said unto him, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you whole.
In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wherever the body is, there will the vultures be gathered together.
And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary.
And shall not God avenge his own elect, who cry day and night unto him, though he bears long with them?
And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Allow little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
And Jesus said unto him, Why call me good? none is good, except one, that is, God.
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet you lack one thing: sell all that you have, and distribute unto the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passed by.
And they who went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, You son of David, have mercy on me.
And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he came near, he asked him,
And Jesus said unto him, Receive your sight: your faith has saved you.
And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
And he ran on ahead, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at your house.
And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
