Thematic Bible: Apostles

Thematic Bible

Go ye and disciple all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the world.

And he ordained twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal diseases and to cast out devils.

And he calleth to him the twelve, and sent them forth by two and two, and gave them power over unclean spirits; And commanded them to take nothing for the journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no mony in their purse; But be shod with sandals, and not to put on two coats. read more.
And he said to them, Wheresoever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place. And whosoever shall not receive you nor hear you, departing thence shake off the dust under your feet, for a testimony against them. Verily I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

And calling together the twelve, he gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the gospel of the kingdom, and to heal the sick. And said to them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, nor bread, nor money: neither have two coats apiece. read more.
And into whatsoever house ye enter, there abide and thence depart. And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

Ye are they who have continued with in me in my temptations. And I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father to me, That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

When they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me more than these do? He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again, the second time, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my sheep. He saith to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep. read more.
Verily, verily I say unto thee, when thou wast young, thou didst gird thyself, and walk whither thou wouldest: but when thou art old, thou shalt stretch out thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. This he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And having said this, he saith to him, Follow me.

Wherefore of these men who have been with us all the time that the Lord Jesus was going in and out over us, Beginning from the baptism of John, till the day that he was taken up from us, one must be ordained, to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom yet they slew and hanged on a tree. Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; (Not to all the people, but to witnesses, chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him) after he rose from the dead.

And he was seen many days by them who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.

And we being with him in the holy mountain, heard this voice coming from heaven:

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have beheld, and our hands have handled of the word of life: For the life was manifested, and we have seen, and testify and declare to you the eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested to us: That which we have seen and heard declare we to you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ:

And calling together the twelve, he gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the gospel of the kingdom, and to heal the sick. And said to them, Take nothing for your journey,

And many signs and wonders were wrought among the people by the hands of the apostles: (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's portico: And none of the rest durst join themselves to them; but the people magnified them, And multitudes both of men and women believing were the more added to the Lord:) read more.
So that they brought out the sick along the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that even the shadow of Peter coming by, might overshadow some of them. And multitudes also of the cities round about, came together to Jerusalem, bringing persons sick and troubled by unclean spirits; and they were all healed.

And taking him by the right-hand, he lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle-bones were strengthened,

And multitudes also of the cities round about, came together to Jerusalem, bringing persons sick and troubled by unclean spirits; and they were all healed.

And Peter said to him, Eneas, Jesus Christ healeth thee. Arise and make thy bed.

And this she did for many days. But Paul being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ, to go out of her. And he came out the same hour.

So that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits came out of them.

Now the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and bloody flux; to whom Paul went in, and having prayed, laid his hands on him and healed him.

casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers) And Jesus said to them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men.

And he called them; and immediately leaving their father Zebedee in the vessel with the hired servants, they went after him.

And when it was day, he called to him his disciples, and chose twelve of them, whom also he named Apostles:

The day following he was minded to depart into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith to him, Follow me.

The day following he was minded to depart into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith to him, Follow me.

And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers. And he saith to them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And straitway leaving the nets they followed him. read more.
And going on from thence, he saw two other brethren, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a vessel with Zebedee their father mending their nets; and he called them. And leaving the vessel and their father, they immediately followed him.

And as Jesus passed along from thence, he saw a man named Matthew, sitting at the receit of custom, and saith to him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. And as Jesus sat at table in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came, and sat down with him and his disciples.

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; the first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

And Simon he surnamed Peter: And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James (and he surnamed them Boanerges, that is, the sons of thunder) And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Canaanite, And Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

And when it was day, he called to him his disciples, and chose twelve of them, whom also he named Apostles: Simon (whom also he named Peter) and Andrew his brother: James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; Matthew and Thomas, read more.
James the son of Alpheus, and Simon called Zelotes, Jude the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, who also was the traitor.

And when they were come in, they went up into the upper-room, where both Peter and James, and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Jude the brother of James tarried.

And they gave forth their lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

And Simon he surnamed Peter: And James the son of Zebedee,

And Jesus answering said to him, Happy art thou, Simon Barjonah; for flesh and blood have not revealed this to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. And I say also to thee, Thou art Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Until the day he was taken up, after having thro' the Holy Ghost given commandment to the apostles, whom he had chosen:

But Jesus answering said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I am about to drink of, or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say to him, We are able.

And his disciples James and John seeing it said, Lord, Wilt thou that we bid fire come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did? But he turning rebuked them and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of:

And I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Verily I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven.

I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, that thou canst not bear evil men; and thou hast tried those who say they are apostles and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast patience,

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.

Then they that were in the vessel, came and worshiped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Then they all forsook him and fled. And a certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body;

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with flesh and blood:

Even as they who were eye-witnesses and ministers of the word from the beginning, delivered them to us:

Beginning from the baptism of John, till the day that he was taken up from us, one must be ordained, to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord?

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have beheld, and our hands have handled of the word of life:

And I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Verily I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven.

But I suppose that I fall nothing short of the very chief apostles.

And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth to him whom he would, and they came to him.

And when the day of Pentecost was come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there was a sound from heaven, as of a rushing, violent wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them distinct tongues, as of fire; and it sat upon each of them. read more.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And Ananias went and entered into the house, and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord hath sent me, Jesus who appeared to thee in the way thou camest, that thou mayst recover thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the heathens.

And rising up the same hour, they returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven met together, and them that were with them, saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told the things done in the way, and how he was known by them in the breaking of the bread. read more.
And as they spake thus, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, Peace be unto you. But being terrified and affrighted, they thought they saw a spirit. And he said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do reasonings arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see me have. And having spoken this, he shewed them his hands and his feet. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said to them, Have ye here any meat?

But when they deliver you, take no thought, how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that very hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the spirit of the Father who speaketh in you.

What I tell you in darkness, speak ye in the light; and what ye hear in the ear, proclaim on the house-tops. And be not afraid of them who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather be afraid of him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall to the ground without your Father. read more.
Yea, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.

Go ye and disciple all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the world.

He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me, and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me; And he that taketh not his cross and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life, shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it. He that entertaineth you, entertaineth me;

It shall not be so among you; but whosoever desireth to be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever desireth to be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be served,

These twelve Jesus sent forth, having commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into a city of the Samaritans enter not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers.

And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers) And Jesus said to them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men.

And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and said to him, Follow me.

And when it was day, he called to him his disciples, and chose twelve of them, whom also he named Apostles: Simon (whom also he named Peter) and Andrew his brother: James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; Matthew and Thomas,

And Peter seeing it, answered the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? Or, why do ye fix your eyes on us, as if by our own power or piety, we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his son Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and renounced him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to release him. But ye renounced the holy one and the just, and desired a murderer to be granted you. read more.
But ye killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead, whereof we are witnesses. And his name, thro' faith in his name, hath strengthened this man, whom ye see and know; yea, the faith which is by him, hath given him this perfect soundness, in the presence of you all. And now, brethren, I know that thro' ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers. But God hath thus fulfilled the things which he foretold by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer. Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, that the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, And he may send to you Jesus Christ, who was before appointed, Whom heaven must receive, till the times of the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets. For Moses truly said to the fathers, The Lord your God shall raise you up a prophet of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things, whatsoever he shall say to you. And every soul who will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and them that followed, whosoever have spoken, have also foretold these days. Ye are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. God having raised up his Son, hath sent him to you first, to bless you, by turning every one of you from your iniquities.

If we are examined this day, of the benefit done to the impotent man, by what means he is healed, Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God hath raised from the dead, by him doth this man stand before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought by you builders, which is become the head of the corner. read more.
And there is salvation in no other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. And seeing the boldness of Peter and John, and understanding that they were illiterate and uneducated men, they marvelled, and took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

But Peter and John answering, said to them, Whether it be righteous in the sight of God, to obey you rather than God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things, which we have seen and heard.

And hearing this, they went into the temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest being come, and they that were with him, called together the council, even the whole senate of the children of Israel,

Then Peter and the other apostles answering said, We ought to obey God rather than man. The God of our fathers hath raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, hanging him on a tree. Him hath God exalted, a Prince and a Saviour with his right-hand, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. read more.
And we are witnesses of these things, and also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

And when it was day, he called to him his disciples, and chose twelve of them, whom also he named Apostles:

Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, and apostles, and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

But the high priest arising, and all that were with him, which was the sect of the Saducees, were filled with zeal, And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them into the common prison. But an angel of the Lord opened the prison-doors, by night, and bringing them forth, read more.
said, Go, stand and speak in the temple the words of this life. And hearing this, they went into the temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest being come, and they that were with him, called together the council, even the whole senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison, to have them brought, But when the officers came, they found them not in the prison; and returning they said, Truly we found the prison shut with all safety, and the keepers standing before the doors; but having opened them, we found no man within. When the high priest, and the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them, what this should be? Then came one and told them, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison, are standing in the temple, and teaching the people. Then the captain going with the officers brought them, not with violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned. And having brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, Did not we strictly command you, Not to teach in this name? And lo, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and would bring the blood of this man upon us. And we are witnesses of these things, and also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. When they heard this, they gnashed their teeth, and took counsel to slay them. But a certain Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in honour by all the people, rising up in the council, ordered, to put the apostles out a little space: And said to them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves, what ye are about to do, touching these men. For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody, to whom was joined a number of men, about four hundred, who was slain, and all who hearkened to him were scattered and came to nothing. After this man rose up Judas of Galilee, in the days of the inrolment, and drew away much people after him; he also perished, and all who had hearkened to him were dispersed. And now I say to you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone; for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought. But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it, and take heed lest ye be found even fighting against God. And to him they agreed. And having called the apostles, and scourged them, they charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ daily, in the temple, and from house to house.

But others mocking, said, They are full of sweet wine. Then Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, Men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you, and hearken to my words. These are not drunken as ye suppose for it is but the third hour of the day.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. And when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together and were confounded, because every man heard them speaking in his own language. And they were amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how hear we every one, in our own native language? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and dwellers in Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Africk about Cyrene, and Roman sojourners, (Jews and Proselytes) Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our tongues the wonderful works of God? And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What can this mean? But others mocking, said, They are full of sweet wine. Then Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, Men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you, and hearken to my words. These are not drunken as ye suppose for it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel, And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophecy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And in those days I will pour out of my Spirit upon my servants and upon my handmaids, and they shall prophecy. And I will shew prodigies in heaven above, and signs on earth beneath, blood and fire, and vapour of smoke, The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord, the great and illustrious day, come. But whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved. Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man pointed out to you of God, by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God wrought by him in the midst of you, as yourselves also know: Him being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands, have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death, as it was not possible that he should be held under it. For David speaketh concerning him, I have seen the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right-hand, that I may not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue exulteth; yea, and my flesh shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in Hades, neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt fill me with joy by thy countenance. Men and brethren, I may say to you freely of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is among us to this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, That of the fruit of his loins one should sit on his throne, He foreseeing this, spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, neither did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God hath raised up, whereof all we are witnesses. Being therefore exalted by the right-hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens; but he saith himself, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right-hand, Until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, That God hath made this Jesus whom ye crucified, both Lord and Christ. And hearing this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do? And Peter said, Repent, and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, whomsoever the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this perverse generation. Then they, gladly receiving his word, were baptized; and there were added to them that day about three thousand souls.

were filled with zeal, And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them into the common prison.

Then answered Peter and said to him, Behold we have forsaken all, and followed thee. What shall we have therefore?

And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God.

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings, and give thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness, While thou stretchest forth thy hand to heal, and signs and wonders are done thro' the name of thy holy child Jesus. And while they were praying, the place in which they were assembled was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and spake the word of God with boldness.

And they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ daily, in the temple, and from house to house.

casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers) And Jesus said to them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men.

And when they were come in, they went up into the upper-room, where both Peter and James, and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Jude the brother of James tarried.

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; the first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Simon (whom also he named Peter) and Andrew his brother:

And Simon he surnamed Peter: And James the son of Zebedee,

And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

But being terrified and affrighted, they thought they saw a spirit. And he said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do reasonings arise in your hearts?

And they went and told it to the rest, neither believed they them.

And returning from the sepulchre, told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

And behold two of them were going the same day to a village called Emmaus, which was sixty furlongs from Jerusalem. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And as they talked and argued together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. read more.
But their eyes were holden, so that they did not know him. And he said to them, What discourses are these that ye have one with another, and are sad? And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said to him, Dost thou alone even sojourn at Jerusalem, and hast not known the things, which are come to pass there in these days? And he said to them, What things? And they said to him, Those concerning Jesus of Nazareth (who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, ) How our chief priests and rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him, But we trusted that it had been he who should have redeemed Israel. And beside all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done. Yea, and certain women of our company astonished us, who were early at the sepulchre, And not finding his body, they came, saying, That they had seen also a vision of angels, who say, he is alive. And some of the men who were with us, went to the sepulchre, and found it so as the women had said; but him they saw not. Then he said to them, O foolish, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things in all the scriptures, concerning himself. And they drew nigh the village whither they were going, and he made as tho' he would go farther. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us; for it is toward evening, and the day declines. And he went in, to abide with them. And as he sat at table with them, he took the bread, and blessed it, and brake and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him, and he vanished out of their sight.

And behold Jesus met them and said, Hail. And they came, and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.

And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace be unto you.

saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; he manifested himself thus.
